I had the honor of getting an ARC copy of this book and I was so excited. The synopsis gave strong Twilight vibes and I’m solidly Team Edward for life. I crack this book open to start reading and what do I see? The dedication is for Twilight lovers?!? I’ve come to the right place, my friends.

Our MMC, Finn, gives Edward a run for his money in the hot stalker/touch her and die categories. I was feeling it and was dying for him to finally introduce himself to our FMC, Lillia. I wasn’t disappointed when that finally happened.

Loved the danger plot that was introduced early on and getting a resolution within this book. Also loved the set up for what is hopefully going to be book 2 featuring Flora. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Definitely recommend this one for all the other Twilight fans out there.

Ok this book was fantastic! I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC and I am so grateful. Finn and Lillia are everything! Lillia is the cutest, most sweet character ever, I fell in love with her! And the fact that Finn will do absolutely anything for Lillia… If you are a fan of Twilight or even The Vampire Diaries this book is for you!

Some tropes in this masterpiece:
- She’s mine
- Vampire x Mortal
- You touch her you die
- Cozy small town
- SPICE🌶️🌶️🌶️
- Dual POV

Also if Flora (Lillia’s best friend) isn’t the FMC of book 2 I will cry. I need more of Flora!!

I was kindly selected as an ARC reader for this book and can I say the timing was great. This felt like the perfect October almost Halloween read. The little homage to Twilight in the beginning had me to excited to read. The brooding vampire male, stalking and obsessed with the FMC. The sweet and fun relationship between the two girls, Flora and Lillia. Overall it was a really fun read with good plot and some spice.

Would definitely recommend for twilight fans! 🩸 I loved the gloomy small coastal town vibes. It was such an easy read; fast paced, captivating story and loveable characters. Also the story being set in the present world was super fun, and the female characters were funny and relatable. The spice was well done, not too over the top.

ARC Review
Midnight Whispers was a fun read, it reminded me of twilight. Lillia lives in a small town running a coffee shop. Finn is a vampire and drawn to her. The mutual attraction is undeniable. When someone from Finn's past comes to town and threatens Lillia, Finn does everything he can to protect her.

A great vampire romance! It was giving the perfect mix of interview with a vampire, twilight and the vampire diaries. The MMC was protective and the immediate bond he had with the FMC was addicting. The spice🌶️ was perfect😍

I was lucky enough to be a part of the ARC team for this book (though I'm horribly late in posting my review, sorry!)

I was super excited to get to read this book after reading the synopsis. I've always been a huge fan of fantasy, so vampires are always a "hell yeah!" for me.

Katarina beautifully created a love story, with twists and turns, some sexy tension, and some serious danger. I loved every second of it.

And to make it better, the friendships between Finn and Asher, and Lillia and Flora was incredible. You can feel the genuine friendship and love they have for each other.

I got some serious Twilight vibes from this story, with a slightly darker edge, and I pretty much demolished it. I read it in one sitting and I already look forward to mote the author

Katarina Martinez did it again! The dedication alone can make a whole fanbase read this book but also the way these characters are built and personalized is something that makes me want to know so much more! Finn and Lillia are such beautiful people individually but together they really have you falling in love! Let’s top that with side characters that have more sass than you even know and you all this combined will have you laughing, crying, and feeling all the love! A five star over here that just keeps giving!

From the very first page, Midnight Whispers had me hooked! As an ARC reader, I devoured every moment, even though it took me longer without an audiobook—if there had been one, I’d have finished it in a day! The story was fast-paced and absolutely captivating. I loved nearly every character, though I couldn’t stand Cedar and Parker. This was an exciting read, and I couldn’t put it down!

Edit: I may have been too busy with work to understand the plot apparently the book is very spicy which I definitely somehow missed.

CW: violence, gore, spice, some others

Thank you to the author for allowing me to be a part of the ARC team! “Midnight Whispers” is available now!

It’s giving cliff-notes adult Twilight, but with spice.

All Lillia wants to do is run the coffee shop her late father opened, enjoy spending time with her best friend, and move on past her failed engagement. When a stranger appears in her shop, the draw she feels towards him is like nothing she’s ever experienced. Vampire Finnian has no desire to turn another mortal, but Lillia’s blood sings to him like no other. Haunted by his past, Finn is helpless in the face of the growing attraction.

Listen, the Twilight books were a huge thing in my middle school years. I read them, I loved them, I watched all the movies. I think I even attended one of the midnight releases. It was a good time. So this book should have been a really fun read. Even the dedication points readers in the Twilight direction. Unfortunately, it seemed to just take some of the key components and deliver them at a much faster pace, so the whole thing was a bit of a miss for me.

I think one of my biggest issues here was that a lot of it was insta-[pick a trope]. Insta-love, insta-acceptance of the whole vampire thing, and so on. I can get down with a good insta-love or insta-lust story, but this just didn’t hit. Maybe it was that so much of it just felt like an aged-up version of the Twilight series, so it never really had a chance to establish its own ground in my mind. The characters never really got to make themselves feel unique or different, and the dynamic between the FMC and MMC didn’t resonate particularly strongly.

That brings me to my next issue. While some of the elements felt unique, a lot of the main plot just felt like a direct pull from the other series. Sleepy town in the middle of nowhere, a human girl just doing her thing, damaged vamp in immense need of therapy and some lessons about invasion of privacy. Even the watching her sleep, stalking behaviors ‘for her own good,’ issues with changing her into a vampire, an entire council of older-than-dirt vampires acting as the government. So much of this was just Twilight repackaged that it felt like I’d already seen it all before. I was really hoping this would be more an ‘inspired by’ thing and less of a direct reimagining.

All in all, it’s an easy read, especially if you’ve read the other series. There are some subtle (and not so subtle) nods to Meyer’s work included, which made for some fun Easter eggs, but it mostly just came off a little cringe for me. If you’re a major Twi-hard and love anything written in that same vein, this book could probably go either way for you. If you’ve never read or watched them but you enjoy a vampire story, you might really like this one. It just didn’t do a lot for me personally.

“ℋ𝑒𝓇 𝒷𝓁𝑜𝑜𝒹 𝒸𝒶𝓁𝓁𝓈 𝓉𝑜 𝓂𝑒, 𝒷𝑒𝒸𝓀𝑜𝓃𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓉𝑜 𝒸𝑜𝓂𝑒 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓉𝒶𝓈𝓉𝑒 𝒽𝑒𝓇.”⁣

If you love all things Twilight, read this book! In a small coastal Oregon town called Emolyn Cove, a broody and lonesome vampire named Finnian falls for his beautiful next-door neighbor Lillia. The only catch is that Lillia is a human with the most delicious blood he’s ever come across in all his hundreds of years as a vampire. He emotionally struggles with the monster he believes he has become, yet Lillia’s pull awakens many emotions in him and he can’t stay away! ⁣

This book seriously gave me all of the Twilight vibes.✨ Finn is exceptional. His sad past made me want to wrap him in a giant hug. He deserves the world. 🥺 Lillia starts as a sweet soft bookish girl working in her late father’s coffee shop, but once she succumbs to her mysterious stalker vampire crush, her inner freak shines as bright as the full moon! Go girl! 😈 I was surprised at how fast Lillia fell for Finn. My only critique is that I wished their relationship was more of a prolonged slow burn, rather than insta-lust/love. It felt somewhat rushed here, but overall I loved their dynamic and chemistry.🔥 Lillia’s best friend Flora gave major black cat energy and was just as protective of Lillia as Finn. I loved their friendship so much. Asher was such a vibe—the best golden retriever vampire! After that epilogue, the next book has me so curious! 👀 Midnight Whispers was a quick read with some fun twists and I really enjoyed it! 4 ⭐️ 2 🌶️⁣

I’m not going to lie-I went in a little biased and concerned when I read the dedication. I Loved the Twilight books. Hated the movies. I didn’t know what to expect. But I did know that if there was anything -for the love of all -Do not Sparkle!!! Buffy’s vampires do not sparkle. Dracula -didn’t sparkle. But I’m getting off track. And thank you for not making him sit using his fingers to help him into literally any chair.

The story here-I enjoyed it. Be prepared-It moves fast. One minute we are in the coffee shop with no face but handsome back of head. And the next -well you get the idea. But I’ve noticed that with Katarina’s writing and I have nothing against it. Sometimes a slow burn isn’t needed. This one-it wasn’t. But with drawing some stuff out-I think some feelings could’ve been questioned. Especially after that one scene! Close to the end (if you’ve read it -I hope you know which one I am speaking of because I HAVE QUESTIONS!). Although I am curious to see how long that other thing will take.

I was lucky to receive this as an ARC (and questioned some areas). But aside from that it was a quick read.

~Touch her and ☠️.
~Love at first sight/Mine.
~Vampires (hot).
~Small-Town Romance (dark-ish).

We have the Main -Main Characters. And then the main Side Characters. If that isn’t a thing -I’m making it one. Even though we see it from Dual POVs. I felt like we were entering into the BFFS/makers world as well. Finn, Asher, Flora, and Lillia. This story is focused on Lillia and Finn. It was straight forward for me. Although that twist at the end -I think I was waiting for another twist (book 2 it has to happen…right?).

What did I want more of though-the revenge scenes to be something more. I felt like it could have been (I’m sorry it was a little anticlimactic (🫣)).

Also-I do NOT trust Griffith.

But I’m here for a majority of that song list ~Bad Omens~ yes please.

Midnight Whispers by Katarina Martinez 3⭐️

Everything changes for Lillia when her father dies unexpectedly in a car crash. She ends her engagement, sells her dad’s house and moves to a cottage in the woods with her no nonsense best friend, Flora. She takes over running her father’s coffee shop in their coastal town and tries to cope with her loss.

Finnian and his vampire sire, Asher have returned to Emolyn Cove after years of being away. They live in a recently renovated manor in the middle of the woods. When Finn happens across Lillian’s cottage one day and catches her scent, he can’t get her out of his head.

This book gives major Twilight vibes but without them being teenagers. Some parts struck a little to close to home though. We follow Finnian and Lillia as they are magnetically drawn together. I was throughly entertained with this book. I do feel it was a little rushed especially for the more important moments. We got a lot of day to day life from both points of view that lead to the major plot points feeling rushed.

The tension between these two was intense and immediate. Finnian was obsessed the moment he saw her. Lillia couldn’t get her “mysterious stranger” out of her head.

I loved the relationship between Flora and Lillia. I loved the fact that they complemented each other’s differing personalities without invalidating the other. I look forward to reading the sequel and seeing how things progress for this coven.

Thank you to Katarina Martinez for an early copy in exchange for my honest review!

This book is so cute, it reminds me of twilight meets fated mates. I really enjoyed the beginning of this book and the visuals it created for the. It kept giving hints to what it meant to kill another vampire and it finally comes out with the full story/consequences later. I enjoyed that it kept you guessing. The romance between the characters is great and I loved how slow it was and the mystery surrounding it. I loved the stalking vibes because it gave a great dark romance vibe. I will admit when it came time for the characters to actually meet their romance took off incredibly quick, it went from 0 to 100 so fast I got whiplash. Them being in love also happened very fast which made me think of fated mate novels. I wish that part would have been drug out more, however i understand this isn’t a super large novel to begin with. I enjoyed side character romances as they came to light and almost all the characters personalities are enjoyable. Also the betrayal theme in this book really helps you understand the character dynamics and what to expect. I thought the kidnapping scenes could have been longer and more detailed, was thrilled when the female lead started fighting back. Overall I enjoyed this novel and the twist at the end. I can’t decide if I want to read more about the two original love interests or their friends. Has a little bit of spice but doesn’t go overboard.

Lillia is the sweet coffee shop owner and a transplant to a small, secluded town. She lives in a cottage with her best friend Flora and is healing from her fathers death unseen abusive ex.
Finnian is quite the opposite. He is angry, dark, and feels like a monster. He is not a monster but a vampire. Once he sees Lillia, he quickly becomes obsessed with everything about her.
This is a spicy Twilight-esque vampire romance. I liked this more than I thought I would. I was obsessed with the Twilight novels, but the movies ruined it for me. This fixed some of the problems that are now so obvious with Twilight and was not centered around moody teenagers.
Flora and Asher really played vital roles in making me love our main characters.
This quickly got to the vampire point and let the suspense fall into other areas of the plot, which was great.
I do wish we would've seen more interaction between Fin and Lillia. I felt like they didn't get a chance to really talk and get to know one another. It was all more assumed rather than detailed. The book also left me with lots of questions, which I need answers to!! So I will be desperately waiting for book 2.

Midnight Whispers by Katarina Martinez was a bit of a slow burn at first, but by the middle of the book, I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. The male lead, Finn, is the perfect embodiment of an angsty, morally grey vampire with a troubled past that continues to haunt him.

Lillia’s life has been drastically changed after the death of her father and the end of her engagement with her fiancé. Now, she’s running her late father’s coffee shop in a small town, trying to move on and live her life the way that she wants with the companionship of her best friend.
From the moment Finn lays eyes on Lillia, I found myself rooting for their romance as they are drawn together. I loved watching their fated mates love story unravel, and their chemistry kept me turning the pages. They certainly complimented each other.

Overall, this book delivered as a perfect fall read, especially for fans of vampire/human romance with a fated mate trope and some spice.

This was my first ARC read and I was really excited to be chosen for it! The book seemed very similar to Twilight and The Vampire Diaries and in some aspects which made it enjoyable for me to read because I grew up on those franchises. You have Finn the broody, quiet “touch her you die” thing going for him, and I love that. Lillia is a small-town girl who is grieving over the lost of her father. Her best friend, Flora, is the one who grounds her and keeps her afloat.

The book itself was pretty good. It was a quick, easy read to get through and the concept was easy to follow. I think I enjoyed it getter once I stopped trying to think about how this book has other vampire story influence and started thinking and taking it in as it’s own vampire story. I think this world could be expanded into a second book because it definitely hints at there being a second one. I would read the second one for sure, if there is one. If you’re looking for a romance vampire read, this one is a good one to choose.

Thank you to Katarina for the ARC!!!!

If Twilight saga had (or still has) a chokehold on you…like it does me….but you just wish it was a little better written then you are going to devour Midnight Whispers, a vampire, slight stalker romance between Finnian and Lillia.

This will be a duology and while there were some similarities that felt inspired by our well known saga I still felt it was different enough that I truly enjoyed this. The nods to Twilight and inside jokes of how we all feel about the franchise had me rolling.

I like that we have a good understanding of Finn right off the bat as to why he is so fierce and protective of Lillia. I always appreciate well rounded characters and those side conversations to help build up the plot and their personalities. Even if they are a little stalker-ish. lol I’m a sucker for found family and I love the support between both the friendships of Lillian and Flora as well as Finn and Asher. You’ve got my attention Kat and I look forward to the sequel!

ARC REVIEW

Imagine if Twilight, True Blood, and The Vampire Diaries had a baby. This book had elements from all these great books/shows/movies. The dedication doesn't not give justice of how good this book is going to be...it's so much better! I'm so glad the FMC Lillia is not annoying and has a good personality plus her BFF Flo, is such a great attribute to the storyline. I really loved that Fin is darker, more possessive, has stalker tendencies, morally gray, but still keeps his humanity. Also can we talk about Asher!? I'm glad Fin's maker has golden retriever vibes. It definitely added to the story in terms of humor. The plot is fast paced and could have used more world building/more time for tension/chemistry between the MCs but was still a very well written read. Thoroughly enjoyed this book that reminded me that I still really like vampires and dark romance. I will be patiently waiting for book 2

I thought this was such a good, quick read! I didn't want to put it down! I loved the dual POVs, as well as our beloved side characters.

There was a *slight* stalker aspect to Finnian, and I'm not going to lie....I didn't hate it. How did he make it not creepy? Unsure, but I'm not going to question it too much. Just going to let it happen.

Lillia was such an interesting character and I can't wait to get more from her. There is definitely going to be more than what meets the eye with her given the end of the book and I'm excited to see how she continues to grow.

This plot was fast and you have to pay attention! The action happens when you aren't exactly expecting it and so it kept me on my toes on what to expect next.

There is that semi-insta love angle. Once again, I found this working. If there is a connection, let's not fight it!

I'm excited for the next book!

Overall: recommend!

listen. if you read twilight & wished it had more spice with a touch of darker themes, you need to read this. there are a lot of twilight parallels that happen but this is for the twilight girlies, hands down. that’s literally the only requirement you need for this. jk, it’s a crazy fun ride whether you’ve read (or watched) them or not.

in typical katarina fashion, this is the author you want to read if you want to dip your toes into fantasy. this is set in modern times; it was fast paced; and had a captivating storyline. even though spooky season is over keep the ambiance rolling with this one, plus it’s a state of mind anyways. the set up for book two was exceptionally executed & anxiously awaiting to see how well this temporary resolution works out !

i received an eARC of this buttttt this is OUT NOW ! so run, don’t walk & let’s keep the spooky vibes going 😋

happy reading 🖤

Too Much in Not Enough Time

Where do I begin here? The book is short, I'm not sure if it's considered a novella. So everything happens so fast once the main characters meet. She falls for him too fast for it to be not cringe worthy. Their interactions literally made me cringe at my phone. I did like the spicy scenes. The author did well writing those. It just didn't need to be so fast. She accepted what he is in literal seconds. Be a little afraid, damn!
The FMC is kinda treated like a precious little child by everyone. I felt bad for her, but she accepted the treatment happily!
There are too many things that are too close to Twilight. I ended up not connecting with the lore because I was reminded of Twilight so many times.
I feel bad for leaving such a bad review, but I read the entire book and failed to make a connection to any of it. I love paranormal romance, and I really hate when I find one that doesn't live up to what it could be.

If you’re a “Twilight “ fan you will enjoy this book that has a lot of comparisons to it, with some added Spice 🌶️, It also had a little “Vampire Diaries “ vibes.

MFC Lillia is a small town girl running a coffee shop trying to find her way and avoid her abusive Ex.

MMC “Finn” a vampire who resides in his mountaintop mansion with his maker “Asher” who I loved so much!! He really added a lot of flair and humor to the story!

The storyline was good, it was a little slow in the beginning but it did pick up towards the middle.
Overall I really enjoyed this fated mates, Mortal/ Vampire love story!! And I’m curious to see what happens in the next book!
Thank you author Katarina Martinez for the opportunity to arc read your book!

If you love a fast paced vampire romance, then look no further!

Lillia and Finn were so fun to read. I loved reading their love story. It was nice to read a MFC that didn’t freak out over finding out vampires exist in their hometown. I blame it on her obsession with the Dracula books and Twilight movies. Also her dad always talked to her about stuff like that, so it was in her bones to believe.

I just loved Finn. Yes he was a little stalker ish with her but nothing creepy and only to make sure she was always safe. The way he just was drawn to Lillia and how he was with her was so sweet.

I hope we get more of Asher and Flora in the next book as I just KNOW their book is going to be hot!

This book is exactly what the dedication says, Twilight with spice. There are so many Edward/Bella parallels, and I ate it up. It is, however, a unique story in itself and doesn't feel like fan fiction or a copy and paste version. It plays on the best vampire tropes: touch her and die, fated mates, the tension, the slight stalking, it's Edward meets Spike meets Angel meets Eric (and probably some other hot vamps that I'm not thinking of immediately).

Lillia was a great FMC and as always, I was here for the friendship between her and Flora. A romance will always suck me in but a strong female friendship/BFF soul mates scenario will sell me on a book in a heartbeat.

A great read for Halloween time, for those who love vampires, and those looking for a steamy romance.

It’s a quick, thrilling ride set in a small town, featuring a swoon-worthy vampire who falls hard first. As a self-proclaimed vampire enthusiast, I was thrilled by how this story merges all the best elements from our favorite vampire tales with irresistible dark romance tropes. Katarina has truly captured my heart with her new vampire hero, and I can’t wait for the next installment! Get ready to fall in love!

This was my first read by Katarina Martinez and I'm in love! Finn's a vampire who seems to be looking for his other half. Lillia is human and just bought a cottage in the forest. She lives there with her best friend. When Finn and Lillia meet they have an instant attraction to each other. As they get to know each other she starts to put things together and figures out who he really is. She's always believed in vampires. Someone dark from his past starts to follow her. For her safety he tries to stay away but it's too late. This person knows who she is to Finn. He does everything he has to save her. This was a really great read and can't wait for the next book.

If you like vampires in the modern world, found family, Twilight, a man who watches you sleep - to make sure that your safe, leaves a drawing of you so that you know how he sees you ... This book is for you!

This story is fast-paced, under 300 pages, but it doesn't take away from the storyline. It was easy to follow, and I got to know the world and characters enough to appreciate the story.

Lillia owns a coffee shop, but one day, a man walks into her shop, eager to know more about her, and her life is never the same again.
