Cursed Love

Rate this book
Poor. Barren. Unwanted.Regardless of how many Omega galas I attend or how many scent cards I flip through, no pack wants an Omega who can’t produce kids.
On the cusp of my 30th birthday, I have one last chance.
One last night to prove that I can be someone’s perfect Omega.
One last hope that I’ll find an Alpha willing to take me into their home.
Unfortunately, I catch the eye of not just one but two Valla, a designation more ruthless and powerful than an Alpha. Nightmarish stories follow the Valla, Omegas either terrified to be their mate or excited by the opportunity of absolute submission.
I’m horrified.
Valla don’t share.
I have no hope of surviving between these beasts, even when their third mate tries to intervene.
This can’t work, can it?
Am I just meat for the fodder or is this my happy ending?
Cursed Love is the first standalone installment in The Vallaverse, a new spin on the Omegaverse that includes a ruthless new designation - Valla. From an Omega who just wants love to an unconventional pack looking for their perfect fourth, comes a new, darker world. Welcome to the Vallaverse. MMMF, CW/TW in Author's Note.

A beautiful emotional story with the introduction of a new designation, the Valla. Koa was so sweet and suffered so much as an omega from her family. Hunter, Moses and Amelia were engaging characters and so protective and caring of their new omega. Loved the story and the Vallas. A fabulous read.

I love when authors can take such a well established subject and twist it up to make it their own. And that’s what this author has done. It’s so interesting to take something like OV & have something such as a new designation AND FOR IT TO WORK! Loved it! Can’t wait for more.

Koa deserves all the love and patience an omega strives for! She finds that with the St. Clair brothers and amel! This book was chefs kiss! I hate that she had to suffer at the hands of her brother to find her HEA but it all worked out for her in the end! Damien should’ve been put 6 foot under but beggars can’t be choosers! Overall Koa found her forever Pack and i love that for her! Can’t wait to read more in this series!

N. Slater’s books really know how to pull in and they don’t let go until the end! This one was another one for the shelf! I absolutely loved it!

I really loved learning about the valla designation it was different but I loved it! Each character was unique and something about them that I just couldn’t get enough of!

Overall, I really enjoyed and highly recommend if you love omegaverse! This one was so good and I couldn’t get enough of it!

New designation introduced - Valla which is bigger, more aggressive, scarier version of an Alpha.

Loved the idea, but it seemed that the Valla in this book did not make all those around quake in fear. I was thinking there would be more intimidation or visceral fear, but they get sneered at by the bad guy who doesn't show any respect or much fear.

I'll stick with it as I like the concept.

I had high hopes for this book and was disappointed in the execution. A new designation in the omegasphere sounds intriguing until you realize these guys don't even follow the "mold" of it. They're supposed to be bigger, badder, extra vicious, and they just.....are but aren't. Bigger, yes, but who could even tell? They were only described by their eye color. That's it. Amel has gray eyes, manicured beard and dark skin, but that is the extent of the imagery. Hunter has blue eyes and wears glasses,Moses has hazel eyes. Badder? They never defended her when her brother threatens her, like you would think unhinged mates from a super brutal caste would. The worse thing they did was break the fingers of a mid level employee and rough up her brother. I feel like I missed out on some world building because the world just....was? No real explanation of life or society, geography or time period. I'm completely confused as to how much power and influence her dad and brother wield vs her pack, because it SEEMS like her pack "runs the city" because of the valla and professional connections, but her brother isn't scared of them in the least, and needs money, yet her pack isn't seen as a source of money. . Heroine is vaguely described enough that one can conclude she is a WOC (dark skin, brown eyes, poofy hair. Those came straight from the book) but I feel like if the characters are POC,it was written in briefly so you miss it/skip it and build your own character descriptions. As for the plot- there was none. Traumatized,biology-despising omega reluctantly gets a mate pack. Koa whined and railed against her designation for literally 70% of the book. That is way to long to read bratty sulkiness about how unfair life is and how much she didn't want to be who she was. The guys practically tiptoed around her for the entirety of the book. They all irritated me. And don't get me started on the "safe, sweet girl, hurt, promise, got you, knuckles" word repetition. For such a short book, these each came into rotation at least once for every three pages, and that's honestly suspicious. Next to no spice -two tepid scenes, with an entire heat cycle glossed over. She's in heat! .....Now it's ended and we're all drinking water." Overall, could have been a fresh new take, but fell back into the same old cliches. My opinion only. Feel free to read and form your own. But so say you weren't warned.

What a beautiful and wholesome story.

We have Koa, who, even though she is an amazing Omega, feels extremely worthless no thanks to her family. She is fiesty through and through.

Our mmc's are Amel, Moses, and Hunter. Amel is our beautiful and clear-headed Alpha that keeps his Valla mates in line (most of the time). Moses is our kind of unhinged Valla. He's amazing and really funny, whereas his twin Hunter is more controlled in a sense.

The plot kind of broke my heart a little and put me back together. We see Koa seeing herself as worthless to finding mates that actually respect, love, and cherish her for her and not for her designation. It was so cute seeing Moses and Hunter fall over themselves for Koa. Amel is incredible. He is so good at anticipating everyone's needs, and he's just so selfless. There is family drama with Koa, but I love that she finds herself and proves how incredible she is.

What an amazing introduction into this new world. I'm excited to see who's next 😍😍😍

Thank you to N and your lovely team for the opportunity to read this story. It's a privilege to be a part of your ARC team. I am forever grateful 🙏

This is quite an easy read despite it’s slightly darker element.

Koa has a tragic history. The epitome of familial betrayal. Her brother truly is a heartless monster. How she spared him in the end...I don’t know.

I really liked the Valla element to this one. Adding a new designation/twist to a well established genre is always interesting to read and this is no different. You have a designation that have been made out to be the 'boogie men' of society, they're the things parents use to keep their kids in line.

In reality? They're kind of unhinged, psycho golden retrievers...at least, for their omegas.

For me, personally I wanted to see more of a relationship development. The first 70-75% of this Koa is in pre-heat or heat and then after we jump ahead a week and she's no longer scared of them, completely settled and they're all whispering the L bomb and ready for bonds.

The length of the book does account for that, so I'd say this ends on a HFN in the sense that their relationships are just beginning. The entire thing takes place in less than two weeks excluding the epilogue. But, they do get their HEA and Koa gets everything she deserves.

Cursed Love by N. Slater

I’ll admit, I usually don’t care for why choose stories, just not my trope, but I tried this randomly.
The new Valla designation adds a fresh twist to the omegaverse, and I ended up genuinely enjoying how it played out. Koa’s story is emotional and often painful, but it’s satisfying to watch her find people who truly value her after everything she’s been through.

Amel, Moses, and Hunter each bring something different to the dynamic, and while some parts leaned a bit over the top for my taste, the emotional payoff made it work. The writing is engaging, the worldbuilding is creative, and the chemistry definitely delivers.

A solid read overall, intense, heartfelt, and surprisingly sweet beneath all the chaos. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

New Valla Designation

Wasn’t too sure about a new designation but then I started reading the book. I couldn’t put it down.

To everyone else the Valla are monsters but to their mates they are big puppy dogs…lol. The love Hunter, Moses and Amel have for Koa is unbreakable even when circumstances try to tear them apart and make her believe they are monsters.

Koa was asked “you don’t see us as monsters?” She tells them “even if you were you’re my monsters.”

Read this it’s so worth it.

I devoured this. My heart broke for Koa and the crap that she has to deal with when it comes to her older brother. She doesn't have any allies in her corner and as fate would have it... she turns up at the gala to meet her mate. He just happens to come with 2 Vallas of his own. I love that N Slater and Avanne Michaels are entering this Vallaverse together and creating their own spin on omegaverse. I am so here for it.

I cannot get over this unique omegaverse! N Slaters take on the designation created by her and Avanne Micheals is amazing! I instantly fell in love with St. Claire pack and their precious Omega who refuses to be anything but her amazing self! This book at me kicking my feet at the fluff one moment and screaming in anger the next! The plot twists, the revenge, and over the top protective mates is just delicious and I devoured every word. Major praise for Vallaverse and I can’t wait for more!

Oh yes everyone needs a valla or 2

Loved loved loved this. Koa is an emotionally abused omega who is not looking for a pack but after being played by her family finds the most amazing kind and considerate threesome.

The vallas are an amazing addition to the world. Everything is amplified the violence but also the love and protection they show their mate.

Amel is the sweetest alpha breaking up the intensity of the vallas and been the voice of reason.

If you looking for a fun fast passed omegaverse finding your pack story this is for you.

Can’t wait to see more in this world.

This was a quick read - interesting to bring in a new designation (Valla). It was okay - quick read for me. Koa clearly comes from an emotionally abusive home and isn't hopeful when she attends an event in order to meet alphas/valla. However she does meet Amel - the alpha who is in a pack with two valla and he is immediately drawn to her. Unfortunately, she's pretty skittish but she's still drawn to him.

It's very insta-love on the part of the men to Koa. She obviously has issues and needs time to trust.

⭐️ Just perfect! I will read everything this author writes! The plot is so different from every book I have read! The FMC does not know her worth because she has been verbally harassed all her life by her brother, Damien, her father and sister-in-law. This author had me weeping, yelling “yes” and holding my breath for what’s to come!
⭐️ I encourage you to read this book. It is rare to find an author that surprises me!

Koa

Never read a vallaverse before, reminds me of shifters where they are bred different, stronger and scarier. Think I can def get on board with a valla now after reading this novel.

Cursed Love isn’t what I would have actually called this Novel but anyway it’s still amazing and love the fast pace, get to the point. Introducing Valla for the first time for me, has been everything. Excited to read more about the Valla☺️ Highly recommend

This ended up being sweet with a beautiful pack relationship

This was a quick OMV read. I really liked that there was no third act break-up and no miscommunication. The relationship between the Omega, the Alpha, and the Valla was sweet and all-encompassing.

I like this version of OMV, where there is another designation that is so OTT and protective of their Omega.

Love the new series and a new designation in OV. This story had a few inconsistencies in the FMC but for the most part a solid character. Valla sound like super Alphas for the most part. Not much extra about them expect they’re big and kinda scary. It was a quick wrap up but interesting in continuing in this shared world.

This book was amazing. The introduction to a whole new designation called Valla in an omegaverse story was refreshing. Koa, Moses, Amel and Hunter's chemistry was pure perfection. I loved the story and the spice, the characters and the romance. I can't wait to see more Vallaverse out there.

Loved the character dynamics in this. Hunter, Amel and Moses are so protective and caring of Koa, and it was heartwarming to see after all the trauma she's already endured from her toxic family. It had drama, twists, plenty of spice, and I loved the new designation of Valla in the Omegaverse.

ehhh I liked the concept.

I didn’t get enough character development. We didn’t delve into insecurities. We didn’t get to see more of the independence play out. I don’t know Koa is a cool name but there didn’t seem to be anything special
