Lionel knew his boss was evil...but an actual demon hellbent on claiming him? Yikes.
When I'm promoted to working with the CEO, I expect a little extra work. After all, I've sacrificed girlfriends, personal time, and sleep to get to this point. But the boss is secretive and aloof—and way more demanding than I ever imagined.
In a fit of desperation, I get on my knees to beg him to tell me what he wants. Turns out, that's exactly where he wants my straight ass. Everything I've believed is torn to shreds when he reveals his true form.
He's a demon in disguise, and he's determined to make me his.
The Devil's in the Details is an explicit story (~8,000 words) featuring first-time, straight-to-gay, demon-on-man action. It's also the beginning of the 5-book Demonic Boss Series, which follows Lionel and Finneth over several years of encounters, leading to mpreg (though it is only mentioned in this book). 18+ only.
The book ends with a cliffhanger, and the story continues with Burning the Midnight Oil.
'This isn’t some desperate attempt to win my boss’s approval. This is a fight for my life. For the first time ever, I feel close to some kind of truth about what I actually want.'
I really enjoyed this book. Good world building despite being very short. I loved both Lionel and Finneth. I liked the way it is paced with time passing. When they finally come together their chemistry is hot. I will definitely be continuing the next four books. Though as short as this is, they could all be combined into one. lol 5 stars
Lionel grew up poor and worked hard to be able to get a 4yr degree. He started working at a firm and he worked harder than everybody else there just to prove that he was Worthy because he didn't have as much education as everyone else. Finneth is the head boss but unbeknownst to Lionel he's also a demon and his mate. You see Lionel is straight. Or at least he thought he was. This ends on a cliffhanger.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an interesting premise. It was definitely a very short novella, and I would have preferred a longer story, but I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Ok, this may be short but it has a lot going for it. I would suggest a little work around with the attraction but it’s otherwise love at first sight even though the straight man doesn’t understand that.
