As book 1 in the Edith F.B.I. thriller series, I expected it to pick up where Seattle Slayer, the prequel, ended, but in that expectation laid the first surprising twist. Homecoming picked the story up ten years after Seattle Slayer ended. Homecoming, like Seatlle Slayer, is an adrenaline fueled, action-packed, roller coaster thrill ride. Still, the way this book ends leaves the reader knowing that this is a series that needs to be read in the order in which they were written.
This is also a series where the reader must pay close attention at all times, because Fogerty slips into and out of flashbacks that can easily confuse and lose the reader. Flashbacks are an integral part of every thriller. Every thriller author uses them, but I have never read an author that uses them the way Annabelle Fogert uses them.
The way Homecoming ends leaves me feeling that this will be an episodic series, where each episode builds upon the preceding episode. Although each episode has a primary plot that comes to a definite conclusion, there is an overarching plot that carries over to the next book. I can't honestly write about that without dropping spoilers, so you will have to read these books to see what I mean. Personally, I can't wait for the next book in this unusual but exciting series.
