Although well written, I was irritated by cigar-smoking millionaire Daniel of "For Now, Forever"--he was overbearing and believed he could railroad Anna into marriage. On the positive side, she would not be rushed and insisted on having her own career as a physician. The theme of having to fight for a career in addition to marriage was a lot more common in the late 1980s, but feels a bit dated now. 2 stars for this one.
"The Welcoming" was more to my taste--Roman and Charity seemed more down-to-earth. It also helped that their romance was set on Orcas Island, a Pacific Northwest place I've been to. I did notice a couple minor flaws in the story: 1) the real ferry to Orcas Island does not actually depart from Seattle, and 2) I question why Charity never ran into a problem when trying to spend the counterfeit Canadian dollars she accepted. Overall an enjoyable read, though. 4 stars for this one.
