~Murder-Mystery, Small-Town, Ghosts, and more!~
Paws and Premonitions by Pamela McCord follows Erin Bailey, who, a couple of weeks ago, solved a murder, almost died, and gained the ability to talk to her cat and ghosts. Erin is ready to return to everyday life and enjoy time with her new boyfriend, Ryan, and best friend, Susie. All is going well until Erin's elderly neighbor, whose death was ruled as natural causes, comes to her and asks for help solving his murder. With her talking cat, best friend Susie, detective boyfriend Ryan, and private investigator friend DC, will Erin be able to solve the murder of her kind neighbor, or will it be chalked up as natural death?
3| This was a quick read with an interesting premise. I went into this as my first book in the series and was missing some context. That said, I think an incredible job was done explaining what happened in the last book without spoiling it. I could understand the character's relationships and lives without being completely lost, which is always impressive. Though the descriptions in this book were nice, I felt the plot was unfinished and a bit rushed. I do understand this book is a series, so I will not judge too harshly, but some parts were left unfinished, and it felt like an oversight, not an intentional decision—for example, the coins and Tim's entire estate. I do hope these points are mentioned in future books and that they weren't just simply overlooked and forgotten. I did find the characters in this book endearing. I liked seeing Erin and Susie's friendship and how their dynamic worked. I also enjoyed Ryan and DC and the introduction of Jordan. The characters had a lot of personality, which was fun to read about. I loved how we met Erin's family and saw their reactions to her recent escapades. The part in this book that fell flat for me was the plot. The whole storyline seemed a little rushed. There wasn't a leadup to the killer, and the language itself seemed to be causal for a life-or-death situation. The killer being revealed so early in the story ruined some of the buildup and suspense that I was looking for.
A couple of things frustrated me in this book. For starters, at the beginning where it is constantly mentioned Susie is Italian. This added nothing to the plot, and while I understand it was important to her character and description, it seemed redundant. I also found myself getting annoyed at how nonchalant Erin was about being in an extremely dangerous situation. A killer is potentially after her, and she still leaves her phone and goes places alone. She constantly put herself in bad situations that could have been easily avoided, which got frustrating. I also wasn't a fan of the cliffhanger at the end. I would have preferred if the storyline for the next book started in that book. I did enjoy the descriptions of the scenery, they were nicely placed and added a lot of context to the story. I enjoyed Peekaboo and how unique the whole situation is. It was unlike anything I had ever read, which was fun.
Overall, this was a fun and fast read. The plot itself wasn't my favorite, but the side characters were entertaining, and the book's premise is unique. I think this series has a lot of potential, but I do hope in the future, it leans more into the murder mystery aspect. I needed more suspense to stay engaged and keep reading. This wasn't a bad read by any means and I do think this series has a lot of potential.

I’ve been enjoying the heck out of paranormal cozies, and this is the second book in a new series. I adore this town and its inhabitants, and I enjoyed this latest installment in the series. Not only that, but we also get to know Erin’s parents and we get to know Ryan and DC a little bit better, too. The mystery in this wasn’t very complex or complicated, but that wasn’t too much of an issue because the fun and trouble these characters get into is a hoot. I’m ready for the next book in the series. A fun, well-written, cute cozy paranormal to sink your teeth into. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

If you like talking cats and ghosts and a heroine who manages, without really trying, to get herself into hair-raising dangerous situations, you will love this series. I must admit I am rather fond of it. Peekaboo, the kitty of Alice, who bequested her home and cat to Erin, trips Erin so she will see ghosts and be able to speak with her after a head injury. When they solve Alice’s murder, Erin thinks this is the last of her ghostly encounters. Wrong!
Her neighbour Timothy is found dead. Everyone thinks it was just old age but Timothy comes back to tell Erin it was murder. Timothy was fighting with his daughter and son in law who wanted him to sell his house and move into a retirement home. While none of the other neighbours think the daughter could be involved, there are still some unanswered questions. But then a piece of information solves the puzzle and that is bad news for Erin. The killer is now determined to end Erin’s questions by ending Erin. There are some exciting adventures as Erin and the killer go head to head. Guided by Peekaboo’s cryptic comments and the aide of a mysterious woman, Erin stands a small chance of staying alive.
It is all well structured and suspenseful even though the murderer is revealed about half way through the book. I wasn’t sure how well the rest would bear up but I am pleased to say, it was a thrilling read right to the end. Five purrs and two paws up.

very good storyline very good characterizations well written
My only gripe about this whole book, is the constant level of violence against Erin. The star of the story always manages to get out of the situation, but they’re complicated and I think having one issue is one thing but having multiple times with the same sort of kidnapping, violence and escape was just a little much for me. However, I do like every single one of the characters in the book. I’m happy to see young Jordan joining the group. And of course, I always love the fact that a cat can communicate, and a human can send a ghost to the light.

Unfortunately, I felt very little for this story and for our main character. The book started out a bit messy, and I wondered if I should have read the first book before this one, but that shouldn’t be necessary according to the author. After some time I got into the little quirks and I came to like the talking cat, but the overall vibe wasn’t as cozy and spooky as I’d hoped. The ending was action packed, which I did like, but also felt a little rushed.

Second book in the series. Just as good as the first. I'll be back for the next story.
Well developed story that is easy to follow along with. The characters are well thought out. And yes I love Peekaboo.
So many more opporitunities are coming to continue the series. Peekaboo did try to warn Erin.

I absolutely love the characters in Franklin, Tennessee! I really enjoy the fact that our heroine does not cook or bake, so she has great opportunities to expand her horizons. Please have more stories coming!

Super exciting adventure!
Erin, Peekaboo, Susie and friends have a lit more adventures in store for them as mysteries pop up. This was a fun and exciting adventure. Well written and interesting.

I loved the characters and their interaction helped the storyline. Story was creative, full of twists and the ending starts the next book. I'm ready for book 3 of 3 and hope there will be a book 4.
