Psychological thriller author Chrystal Murphy is an Oregon Native who currently lives in the Midwest. With a love and passion for thriller novels, she decided to finally capitalize on a dream and write her own stories. Her first book has sold thousands of copies, and her second and third books are available now.
Chrystal lives in the suburbs with way too many kids, an extremely handsome husband, two dogs, (the newest of which she bought and brought home without consulting anyone, not that her husband is bitter about that) and the cutest hairless cat. She spends her days among all the chaos imagining the tawdry secrets and drama that takes place in her subdivision. She's sure there's someone having a rendezvous with the landscaper, perhaps a cleaning lady stealing priceless sentimental silver decorative bowls, and at least one jilted lover with a body buried below the garden shed.
I just finished this book and gave it three stars. While the story was decent overall, I found the plot to be quite predictable, and the characters felt more annoying than engaging. Unfortunately, I didn’t find them very likable, and there seemed to be little to no character development—even when Adam decided to get sober, it lacked depth or impact. It was an okay read, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression.
2.5 ⭐️- I went into this book super blind, and to be perfectly honest, I just thought it was okay. While I was reading this, I could see the authors vision for it, I just didn’t think that it was executed well. I’m not an author in any way shape or form though so take that with a grain of salt.
This book was basically split into two parts and throughout the first part I was really enjoy enjoying it. I loved the set up. A lot happened in the first part. It was fast paced. It was engaging. Then, in the second part, there was a significant time jump, and that’s where this book started to lose me. Things weren’t making sense and the actual conclusion of this book just didn’t feel fully fledged out to me. I was definitely left with questions, I didn’t quite understand the motives of the villain, and it really just didn’t make a whole lot of sense in my opinion because I felt like I was missing pieces of information.
I have recently been in a reading slump and needed the right book to get me out of it- this was it! Just Trust Me had me hooked from the get go, and it just kept getting better as I read. A great storyline that was not complex or overly complicated and kept me guessing the entire time. Highly recommend!!
The start of this story was amazing! Loved the first chapter but then it started to coast. The plot was pretty predictable based on clues throughout. I didn’t seem to connect to the main guy character and didn’t understand his mindset at all unfortunately. Super easy read and easy to keep up with.
,,"That awful voice keeps chirping in the back of my head: She was never here in the first place. This wouldn't be the first time that you imagined something happening when it didn't."
Just Trust Me by Chrystal Murphy, an Indie Author, is a psychological thriller, that is a page turner.
It had several plot twists, great characters, with an ending I couldn't quite figure out ahead of time. I was close, but there was a twist.
Available on KU and paperback!
I read this as an ARC and I gave this review voluntarily.
"Trust Me" by Chrystal Murphy is a captivating and suspenseful tale that hooks readers from the very beginning. The story revolves around Adam, a troubled protagonist seeking solace and redemption while house-sitting at his sister's lake house. The author crafts a compelling narrative that showcases Adam's internal struggles, creating a multifaceted character that readers can both relate to and sympathize with.
Adam’s life takes an intriguing turn when he encounters a beautiful and enigmatic neighbor, sparking an intense attraction that he knows is ill-advised. Despite his better judgment, Adam finds it almost impossible to resist Mia’s lure, leading him down a dangerous path where secrets and hidden motives lurk.
The author builds suspense and keeps readers on the edge of their seats throughout the book. Adam and his neighbors interactions are wild and captivating leaving him filled with tension, and leaving readers guessing about her true intentions.
One of the book's strengths lies in the author's ability to develop complex and relatable characters. Adam is portrayed as a flawed yet compelling protagonist, and readers can't help but become emotionally invested in his journey of self-discovery and redemption. The other characters, including the mysterious neighbor, are equally well-crafted, their motivations gradually unveiled as the plot progresses.
At certain points, readers may already have an inkling of what is to come, which can detract from the element of surprise. Nevertheless, the unpredictable nature of the characters and their motives compensates for this minor flaw, keeping readers engaged until the very end.
In conclusion, "Trust Me" is a gripping and well-crafted novel that combines elements of mystery, suspense, and self-discovery.

“All I know is that you should never underestimate a woman scorned.”
Just Trust me follows Adam, who agrees to house sit for his sister when his life falls apart. When he meets the beautiful and mysterious neighbour, he finds himself getting involved with her, despite all the alarm bells in his head warning him not to. But when Adam witnesses something horrifying next door, he soon learns that there’s no escape from the past or the present. Nothing is ever as it seems, just trust me…
Just Trust me is told from predominately Adam’s perspective. The first half is told from the present timeline, and the second half explores a year later. I thoroughly enjoyed Adam’s character, and I felt the unreliable narrator trope was executed perfectly.
The short chapters and unhinged characters made this book hard to put down, and some of the twists I did not see coming! The author’s ability to weave suspense with emotional depth ensures you’re kept on your toes, and as the plot unravels and Adam questions his fractured mind - you really begin to become immersed within the book.
The beauty of this book lies in the way it keeps you guessing - every clue and every interaction feels loaded with potential lies. This is my second book by Chrystal Murphy but it won’t be my last, and this is one I would definitely recommend.
Thank you so much to Chrystal Murphy for kindly sending me a copy of Just Trust Me to read and review. My opinions are my own.
This book was absolutely unhinged. Just Trust Me is a psychological thriller book that is both suspenseful and spicy. It was a super fast paced read and was full of twists.
This book was dual point of view, but the majority of the story follows the main character Adam, who is house sitting for his sister for a month after his life completely fell apart. Addicted to alcohol and not in the best place mentally, he finds himself getting involved with the beautiful and mysterious girl next door. Little does he know that his life will be completely changed when he witnesses something absolutely horrific at the neighbors house.
This book keeps you guessing the whole way through. It’s full of lies making you question what is real or not. Nothing is as it seems.
With short chapters and suspense woven throughout, I was completely immersed in the story which made this book hard to put down. Like literally I was walking around reading this book while trying to do other things in my life. I was invested in this story.
I would have loved it if this story had more from the female character’s point of view and some more backstory about her, but I think this may have been an intentional decision by the author to keep this character mysterious.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I’d love to read more books by this author.
I received a gifted copy of this book from the author. I am voluntarily giving my honest review.
Adam is house sitting for his sister since his sister and her family is going on a month long trip. Originally he’s from D.C. and his sister’s house is in Virginia. He’s currently out of a job, no where to live and has a drinking problem. So this was a perfect opportunity to reset and start fixing his problems. While he’s house sitting he comes across a beautiful girl, his neighbor for the next month. She is currently visiting her dad during her college break. He is intrigued by her and wants to explore things with her but something happened that took a turn on him.
This has two pov’s. One belongs to the girl, his neighbor and the other is Adam. I liked how this book mostly focused on his pov. The girl had some chapters here and there but it was mostly on him. I did however wish to see more of what happened in the beginning situation with her school and professor. I felt like it was just super quick and went on to the next thing. But I did enjoy the rest of the book. Loved the twists and turns. It was fast paced for me captured my attention. This was my first book from Chrystal Murphy and I’d like to read more of her books. So it was a 3.5 but very high close to 4.

The blurb is what got me, but like Chrystal Murphey's other book (Bodies in the Sand) this was a bit underwhelming and a bit predictable.
Adam has lost everything - his job, his fiance and his home. He is now housesitting for his sister and while housesitting, he meets charismatic Mia. She's the daughter of his sister's neighbor and they fall into a very FAST (and I mean fast) whirlwind romance until Adam sees the unthinkable.
This is not a slowburn, but it felt like a lot going on. The romance between Adam and Mia was a bit annoying. This is a dual POV novel (with chapters from Adam and an unnamed woman), and the beginning really gives a lot away. I figured it out within 30% of the book. While my theory wasn't spot on, I was pretty close to the twist.
The ending felt like the author was on a deadline and had to come up with something. I would have liked to have more POVs from the woman's view, because the ending was just ehh.
If you want a really quick predictable read, this is for you.
This is a book that suffers from revealing far too much at the start of the story. I want more show and less tell. Because of the opening chapters, there really weren't any shocking twists or reveals. It is a straight-forward story that is somehow too long while being told too fast. I think this could have been better if it was condensed into a novella, and the identities were better concealed at the start between Mia and Seville. There was potential to write the story in such a way that we could be questioning which girl was where rather than the author showing us exactly what is happening in Seville's head throughout. Adam is also a very weak main character who acts less like a 30-year-old man and more like a high school boy with his first girlfriend. There's also a lot more time spent on smut sprinkled throughout than what I was expecting. Overall a predictable story with unlikable shallow characters.

This was my first time diving into a book by this author, and I really loved it! I was so hooked that I finished it in just one day. It had the perfect mix of thrills, excitement, and all the good stuff. The ending totally caught me off guard with its twist. Adam gets invited to house-sit at his sister’s lake house, which seems like the ideal chance to get away from the city and the awful rumors about him. When he meets a stunning and enigmatic neighbor, he knows he should steer clear, but he just can’t resist her. There’s something about her that draws him in, and he feels like she might help him deal with his troubled past. But then he sees something creepy happening next door, and he realizes there’s no escaping the truth. Now, Adam is left haunted by what he’s discovered and clueless about what’s coming next.

My second psychological suspense thriller from Chrystal Murphy, Just Trust Me, was just as intricately woven with misleading clues and horrifying scene-stoppers. Murphy has such a deft hand at writing twisted plots.
Just Trust Me works brilliantly because the main character has a vulnerable personality replete with addictions and obsessive thinking. When he encounters the villain in the story, he is ripe for the picking.
Once again, I was held in thrall until the last few minutes of the book. The outcome looked to have gone one way only to swerve entirely in a different direction. I was so invested in the success of my favorite character, I kept panicking when I thought he was a goner.
I'm so glad I found Chrystal Murphy, I am enjoying her books immensely. I highly recommend them to any reader who loves completely unpredictable endings.

So first off, I want to say I really did enjoy this book. The action was pretty fast paced and the characters were very colorful. I felt so bad for Adam and Mia but there was just so much more coming. I was a bit put off by the ending because it really leaves a lot to the reader to decide how to take it. No spoilers but definitely worth the read. Side note to independent authors: please please spell check and grammar check! There were numerous errors in the writing that could've easily been caught by any free Windows program.
Just trust me...read the book! The story wasn't always fast-paced and thrilling, Adam would spiral in his thoughts a bit too long, but it was full of "what in the world is going on!?" and I loved that. It kept me turning the pages, looking for answers. The suspense was high and exhilarating. The dual POV was a nice touch to provide just the right amount of mystery. Highly recommend
Many thanks to the author and BookSirens for providing me with a copy for an honest review. I will definitely read more books by the author!
I got a free copy of this book and finished it in 2 days. It’s a fast paced suspense thriller that messes with you just as much as it’s messing with the main character. I enjoyed it and even tho some bits were predictable (maybe I read too much) it was a good read and well written. Maybe I would’ve liked a bit more of a back story on Seville and how she came to be this way. Would recommend!
Just Trust Me was a great way to change up my reading. The main character Adam is a complex person with many struggles that many of us can relate to. While house sitting beautiful neighbor catches his eye. Meeting this woman turns out to be more than he bargained for. He can’t resist her and they BOTH know it.
So many twists and turns in this story but the author keeps you engaged and on your toes. I will definitely read this one again.
This was like chewing gum. The experience in the beginning has flavor and possibilities, but then it just grinds on to an inevitable finish that doesn’t offer much at all. I really wanted a great story from this, and the elements are there for it. Unfortunately, for me, it was just formula writing.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I have mixed feelings about this book. It definitely kept me interested and want to keep reading to find out what happened next however, the whole premise was a little unbelievable. I mean how do you not notice that they were different people?!? Also Adam kind of got on my nerves.

An absolute page-turner. I couldn't put it down. It has the perfect mix of suspense, excitement, and unexpected twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. The main character, Adam, is so well-written I was totally absorbed in his journey. The ending left me completely shocked. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, this book is a must-read.
A very good read! It’s very fast paced but still manages to keep you on your toes! I loved the creepiness and the twist but I would’ve like a little bit more to pull the ending together :) there’s stalking, murder, and some spice! If you’re looking for a quick thriller I definitely recommend giving this a read!
This book was good but nothing out of the ordinary. We have the typical sociopath and a mentally unstable protagonist, there’s a lot of lies, twists and turns. To be perfectly honest, the MMC annoyed me during the whole book (there was times where I wanted to hit him) and the plot was a little predictable for my liking, but overall I would qualify it as a decent read.
Brilliantly put together psychological thriller, intensely suspenseful and entertaining. Impossibly unpredictable with surprising twists and craziness that can’t be put down and keeps building throughout to a shocking conclusion. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
I didn't like how the college juspt dropped by the wayside after investing that much time in the book. I kept thinking the professor was the murderer. Would have tied the story together better. I didn't like the look alike part of the story.
