Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an eARC. I am writing this review voluntarily.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Money Skills for Teens Made Simple is a fantastic resource for teaching teens and even yourself/grown-ups about all things money. Books like this should be used in schools to teach children/teens about finances and money management to help guide them and give them the tools to manage it wisely. The wording used is easy to understand, and the book is easy to navigate. I liked the use of examples within the book to help the reader/user understand what was being taught in an easier and more effective way to help them grasp the skills being provided. I'll be looking to get a physical copy of this for my daughters (age 12 and 24) as I feel it has benefits for them both and I even learned things as a 43 year old too.
Thank you to Netgallery, Kemi Emmanuel, and BooksGoSocial for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a MUST have for all those who are parents or considering becoming parents. I was looking for a book to aid in the financial discussions I have with my teenage son. When I began my search, I wanted something that tackled the basics and covered said basics in digestible language. This book by Emmanuel does just that. This book is a no-nonsense, quick read that is good for parents and teens alike. Even as an adult, I learned a lot from this book! I especially appreciated the use of modern-day examples to illustrate the concepts.
I will definitely be purchasing a physical copy of this book and will recommend to my friends, family, and colleagues. Who this book is for: Everyone!
This book gives a great overview of very important financial principles related to teen and adult life. It does a great job showing the importance of very proven financial principles
Kemi Emmanuel’s Money Skills for Teens Made Simple is a fantastic resource for equipping young people with the tools they need to build a secure financial future. As a high school teacher, I’ve seen firsthand how much students benefit from financial literacy, and this book delivers clear, actionable advice that teens can easily understand and apply to their lives.
The book covers all the essentials: saving, budgeting, financial planning, spending, and investing. Emmanuel explains these concepts in a straightforward and relatable way, making it accessible for teens who might not have any prior experience with managing money. I particularly appreciate how the author emphasizes the importance of developing good habits early and shows how small, consistent steps can lead to big financial successes down the road.
One of the book’s standout features is its focus on real-world application. From setting up a basic budget to understanding the power of compound interest, the book provides exercises and examples that make abstract concepts concrete. This makes it a great tool for teachers to integrate into personal finance or life skills courses, as well as for parents who want to start conversations about money at home.
Given that financial literacy is now a graduation requirement for high school students in Florida, this book would be an incredibly beneficial addition to the curriculum. It aligns perfectly with the goals of preparing students to manage their finances effectively, offering a strong foundation for success in adulthood.
That said, the book occasionally assumes a level of stability and privilege that not all teens may have. While it briefly touches on topics like financial struggles, it could benefit from more guidance tailored to teens from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, like my students, who may face systemic barriers to saving or investing. Including more examples of how teens with limited resources can still start building wealth would make the book even more inclusive and impactful.
Overall, Money Skills for Teens Made Simple is a valuable addition to any high school teacher’s bookshelf. It empowers teens to take charge of their financial futures and demystifies topics that many adults still struggle to understand. Highly recommend this book for educators, parents, and teens alike—it’s a simple but powerful guide to financial freedom!
