Just when she thought her dreams couldn't get any weirder, Ariel Donovan begins having vivid nightmares of a dog that she must follow. It leads her to find an item from her past that she must use to aid her in figuring out the Thornhill Society...but she's not the only one looking for it.
Luminosity (Gravity, #3) This series of book is fabulous! I found Abigail while looking for free books on Amazon and bought book 2, will buy book three even though I have read the "beta" version. She draws you in with her characters and jump starts the book with mystery. I can't say enough! I highly encourage anyone who like YA books and paranormal/ghost stories to buy the set and enjoy a great read!
This has been my favorite book of the series. Ariel is wonderful, and I find her to be a very strong heroine. I love Henry, I forgave him in the last book, but really came to love him in this book. Their relationship grows, and that is a good thing. There is no "insta-love" here, and I admit I totally love that. Ariel grows as a character, and, to be a bit cliche, the plot thickens. Abigail answers questions in this book, but leaves you asking even more. She's also left me wanting book 4 more than I already was!
This series sucks you in; you won't want to stop reading them until your done. In this book there's more action, more mystery. You get a better understanding of the characters and their motives. The wait for this book has been killing me but the wait is almost over & i cant wait!! So excited to see what happens to Ariel, Henry, Theo & Alex. I sure do hope get back together in the fourth book; it was sad seeing them break up. Cant wait to see how it all goes down in the last book of the series :)
As much as I'd loved the first two books, I was apprehensive about this one, just because it's third in a four-part series. The "middle" of a trilogy or four-part series can get bogged down and boring. I was very happy to discover that this was not the case here! There was plenty of action, several twists, and a deepening of the characters. This series is excellent - definitely a combination of Stephen King and Veronica Mars!
I just finished reading the Gravity Series. I had concerns, initially, that it was going to end up like some weird ESP-laden version of Twilight. Fortunately, Ms. Boyd appears to have far more imagination than Myers.
The books focus on kids at the local high school, so there's a bit of teen-angst. And characters come from both genders, so there's a bit of romance. The kids find themselves trying to sort out a huge conspiracy theory threatening their town, so there's a bit of detective/mystery thrown in, too. And, since one of the main characters sees ghosts, I suppose it'll get labeled as horror, too. I think it's much more action/adventure than horror, myself.
This is pretty good junk food for the brain. It took me a weekend to read all four books (plus book 3.5, comprised of short stories about some secondary characters), but I enjoyed it. I got the first one, Gravity, as a freebie for my Kindle. The others, Uncertainty, Luminosity and Velocity were all $2.99, and book 3.5, Inertia, was $0.99. Frankly $10 for five pretty decent books seems like a fair price.
I finished UNCERTAINTY earlier this morning and went ahead with LUMINOSITY. If I thought I could put down a book, this wouldn't be that book. I was pressing the Kindle buttons like a madwoman trying to get to the end. What I love about this one, is that all Hell breaks loose.
Best one yet! Really leaves you wanting more. Love a book that keeps you guessing and I keep thinking there is no one you can trust in this! GREAT series! A Must Read.
Wow wow wow wow! These books are not your typical YA paranormal romance. They're dark and absolutely exhilarating. The plot line is great. I highly recommend these books.
This series just keeps getting better and better. No way can I stop reading now! So much drama and suspense and horror and insanity. I absolutely love it!
I am not going to go into a big, long and drawn-out review of all of the reasons that you should read this series. Good Golly Miss Molly, just go read it!
There are ghosts, and demons, and Limbo and Dark and creepy crows and even creepier people. Ghost Grandma, Lady in the Red Dress with the Red, Red Eyes. There are truly great friends, and once in a lifetime loves. There are murders, seances, cults and chanting and magical rocks, and pretty ugly magical necklaces. There is a IMPENETRABLE black fog over a town, and crazed folk running around in cloaks with light shooting out of their fingers. MEAN girls that give mean girls their name.
There is so much goodness in this series, I don't even know where to begin. Don't let the fact that this is a self-published story scare you away. Yes, there are some editing issues, but the story is so good, the characters are so well written and believable and the world-building is so spot on, that you can look past it and have a great time. Ariel, Henry, Theo, Alex, Ariel's dad and Theo's mom. Just give it a shot! Be warned, for people who don't like horror, go into this one lightly. It isn't too scary but there are definitely some spooky and creepy scenes. Otherwise, jump on in and have a great time!
I really, really wanted to like this series. I tried. However, I just couldn't. At first, I was drawn in and able to ignore the grammatical issues, but as the books progressed... Oi. By the end of the last book I just wanted it to be over.
On a positive note, the author did an excellent job with the characters. I could picture them vividly and each one had strengths and weaknesses which made them very relatable. It made me care. Which is why I kept reading all the way to the end. I wanted to see how the characters ended up. I also LOVE ghost stories and there were some genuinely spooky scenes and interesting concepts.
Onto the negatives... The writing was just plain rough. This entire series, especially book #4, felt more like a first draft than a final copy. There were loads of grammatical errors, run-on sentences, inconsistencies, and some repetitive writing. Overall, I would give the author another shot. She definitely has potential. In my opinion, she just needs a professional editor. Badly. Self publishing? Awesome. Self editing? A big nope.
Boyd has done it again! From the very first page of the novel, the reader gets sucked in. The story starts right where the second book ends, so the reader feels like they haven't missed a beat. We see our old familiar characters and learn a lot more about newer faces. There are twist and turns that will leave you literally gripping the book with all your might. The ending is the perfect cliffhanger that almost causes pain because the final book has not been released. I am very much looking forward to seeing how Boyd ties up any lose ends in the book and where we will find our main character Ariel. Again, I highly recommend this book, but the first two need to be read to understand the story line.
OMG... I cannot put into words how much I enjoyed this book. I've read many since but continue to think of these series often. And are most definitely going into my re read pile! A young girl, lost, trying to find out how her best friend has disappeared while everyone else seems to have moved on... Until her best friend comes to her, as a spirit caught in limbo. And the series continue to go on and on and on into two more books you just end up wanting more and more, as I have been hoping the author would come out with more. It's always so disappointing to have your favorite books come to an end.
So yeah. Lots of typos, and other flaws, but that is no different than the first two books. Airel is just a boring main character when she isn't seeing ghosts, or, you know, running head first into trouble without thinking things through. All in all, it's an ok story so far.
I will say, I am completely suckered into this by the mystery alone. Damn that mystery and my weakness for unanswered questions, ghost stories, and cliff-hanger endings. It also sucks that the author has no idea when this last book will come out. I HATE waiting for the next book in an unfinished series. HATE. IT.
So much stuff happens in this book that I'm going crazy just writing this review because I want to keep on reading!!! I can't wait to read the short novella which has some background info on the characters ! And then finally the fourth book! Hopefully all my questions are answered! But I gave the last two books five stars and this one four because I felt all the action was left at the end and went way too fast! The story kept building on anticipation and then bam it's over! But I can't believe what does happen!!! This series is just so good!!!
I think this was my favorite book so far in the series, not that I didn’t love them all. I just feel that Ms. Boyd really dug deep here, this one made me laugh and cry, and cheer. I am gobbling these books up and I believe Ms. Boyd is a very gifted author and cannot wait for what’s to come. She definitely knows how to end a book and leave you pining for more! Like my other reviews, the only reason for it not being a five is the few typos that were over-looked.
Not as devine as the first one or full of adventures like the second one the third book of the series gives us at last all the information needed to understand what the Hell is happening in this town. The truth is set free!!!Hopefully the fun is not ruinned....Interesting well written as always and very creepy at times...
why!?!?!? why every time you have to end with a freakong CLIFF HANGER !!!!!??????? Thank the Gods I have the 4th book!!! . .. . . . . . . This book was so simply amazing! !! Creepy and Exciting and Mysterious. ... I loved with. Mixed with the romance of Henry and Ariel ... UGH !!!!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥
idk. i was in for the first two books, but this one lost me. i guess im just not a secret society kinda girl. if you know these bad dudes are after you- wtf are you still doing in that town!?!?!? and your parents are OK with said bad dudes being after you!?!?!?!?!?
It's actually a good book, if you like murder mystery. It got a little detailed for my liking, I'm not one to like the details of gruesome things. I kept wanting to know what happened, which is a good indicator to me of a good book!
I continue to love this series! Great character growth for Ariel here, as more pieces of the puzzle click into place. Can't wait to start the next (and last) installment...
Well, this series is really good. The story line just gets better and better. The only problem I have is that the 4th book isn't published yet. I do hate waiting...but I will.
