If the FMC cared about her job as much as her attraction triangle, she’d have the NHL GM role she thinks she’s got. Press conferences for a mid-tier league that pull in a scout? The metaphors were too much - I lost count after the 6th one about pucks. There wasn’t much depth to the story, characters, or their connections. You know it has nothing much going on if I of all people was hoping it would turn into a why choose just for the drama. This was not top shelf with grandma’s cookies.
As someone who knows nothing about Hockey I felt like the Hockey parts of the book were OK but the romance felt shallow and it felt like we were just told the characters were falling for each other rather than seeing them fall for each other.
