4.5 stars. This was an elegant, classy, upscale, and downright nauseating affair. What I truly enjoyed most was how the author didn’t resort to the standard tropes that come along with cannibalism. Someone goes nuts and starts eating people, someone is lost and hunted by cannibals from a tribe or inbred family, etc. Kimberly Nicole really put a unique spin on this and dove into the mindsets of the characters, making it all very practical and realistic, which made it all that much more disturbing. Plenty of blood and gore, with a fantastic premise, this will make you want to entertain the idea of tasting the forbidden meat. No, not veal, folks. This was my first read from Kimberly Nicole, but she sure as hell has Peter Topside’s attention. Bravo!

This short jaunt into the author’s mind and prose was fantastic!

I definitely laughed out loud at the praise page with the quote from Kimberly’s mom.

The characters were interesting, and Thomas was refreshing- a cannibal with morals.

“I was hoping you would give me a piece of your thigh?”

Within these pages there’s a gory, bloody tale enlivened with unique twists and turns! I am invested in what happens next; readers, keep your eyes peeled for Book 2, “The Inconsiderate Cannibal”!

Screw it. I’m reviewing a book that I wrote! Why? Because it’s important to be your own biggest cheerleader and I think this book kicks butt! 🖤🥹

Grabs you from the get-go and doesn't let up till the end. Which is not really the end, since this story is too rich to find closure that early!

Kimberly Nicole's mind works in some really sick ways, and she gets great joy from shocking her readers with some terrific writing and a haunting story. This is a thrilling read, especially if you appreciate short novelettes of the kind that creep into your thoughts unawares and make you hugely uncomfortable by touching on taboo themes. The premise obviously revolves around cannibalism, though the way Nicole gets to it is quite unusual: the appetite for human flesh develops rather abruptly out of a dare among male friends, and grows into an obsession reminiscent of addiction; but the ending of the story goes into a totally different direction and redefines the point of what's gone before.

My single reservation is that expected this to be far more gory, far more challenging to my sensibilities. The awesome cover seemed to promise constant blood-dripping and non-stop skinning; instead Nicole pressed for a somewhat more psychological direction, playing with the reader's expectations about relationships and the vagaries of the human heart.

I am so looking forward to book two! Kudos to the author!

Well that was a fun wild little ride. Never thought a fame of truth or dare could ever turn you into being a cannibal. I truthfully don’t expect the ending at all, at first I was like ehhh I wish it would have turned out differently, but then when I finished the book I do have to say I liked how it ended. Very good read!! Can’t wait for the next book!!!

I’ve been seeing so many reviews of this book that I just had to check out the author’s debut. I chose the audiobook since it was a short listen—perfect for my drive—and it did not disappoint.

First of all, the only thing that really bothered me about this book is that I have to wait for the sequel. Second, it reminded me of finding a small burrito shack in North Carolina that made the best burritos I’d ever tasted. I had to go at least once a week, and I’d get pretty annoyed if I didn’t.

Also, points to the main character for being ethical. 10/10. And honestly, be careful who you get into a relationship with—just saying.

Fun and short read about a couple who are cannibals. Not as much gore or explicit violence like in other stories of this genre. Still bloody tho.

What started out as a truth or dare of someone eating some human flesh, this turns into something more sinister and wanting more and starts feeding it to his girlfriend thinking she is unaware,
Nice short, fast-paced novelette with a gruesome twist!

This book had an interesting concept but was just kind of okay for me. This is a great beginner level extreme horror for anyone new to the genre but those who have been around a while would like this too!

What a fun quick read! As soon as I saw the cover of this one knew I had to read it. A game of truth or dare leads to an obsession and addiction that leads down the wrong road. Loved it

When a game of truth or dare takes a turn for the gruesome, Thomas will have to reconcile who he was, with who he's becoming, and who he's taking along on the ride with him.

This story has been on my TBR since before it released. It's an entry in the short smack competition in Books of Horror on Facebook, so that pushed me to read it quick smart! And let me tell you, for such a short story, man does it punch you in the face. I haven't read many books that focus on cannibalism, so this was a foray into the unknown for me, and man, was it a fantastic starter. I don't get squeamish as such, so I was really surprised that the descriptions Nicole used in this book, did just that. It's like I wanted to look away, but I literally couldn't because it's a book and I need to read the words to continue the story. It played like a movie in my head, and I couldn't put it down even though I wanted to read the pages through covered eyes. This has made me salivate for the next instalment which I cannot WAIT for! It does end on a little bit of a cliff hanger, but that's okay, it sets you up for what's to come, and what's to come sounds bloody brilliant.

I loved the way that this was written too. I really sympathised with the characters, and I funnily enough empathised with Thomas' plight. This was written in such a way that it feels like something that could ACTUALLY happen. And now I have so many questions and I want to talk to a cannibal and get some hard facts because I am not about to try this myself, so I need answers, hahahahahaha!

This was an absolutely page turner that is small enough to read in one sitting, and trust me, when you pick it up, you'll finish it in one sitting because the story is that engaging. Watching Thomas make terrible choices and feeling bad for him, that was a new on for me. Normally I'm the "Well, play stupid games, win stupid prizes" mentality, but I actually felt for this guy.

This was a short one, but it really hits it out of the park. It's a wonderful short read that was the perfect length, fast pacing and well written, perfect to round out those end of year reading goals!

Normally not a cannibal girl, but after seeing what Ben Young had to say about this, how could I not trust it to chance?

I had to read the synopsis before starting and the game of truth or dare, peaked my interest, I love semi normal games going absolutely wrong, and that's accurate here, to say the least.

I don't want to say too much but, absolutely a must read for anyone that loves horror and needs a little breathe of fresh air for something like this.

I love this cover, and this is very considerate, very mmmhm demure ✨✨

When Truth or Dare goes wrong. So VERY wrong. 😳😵‍💫

Thomas gets a new acquired hunger for human flesh after a truth or dare challenge involving cutting off a slice of his friend’s thigh and cooking it up to eat. He can’t stop thinking about it. He decides he’s going to get some more and even get his girlfriend to try some. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, they do.

This was quite the debut. I’ll be thinking about this one for quite some time. I’m looking forward to reading The Inconsiderate Cannibal whenever it releases!

This book was utterly revolting … in a good way! … it made me want to vomit in some parts about how casually they discussed cannibalism and described the taste 🤮

But the ending was 😍 I loved the decision the author made with the characters! Excited to read the next part!

"Roger felt a rush of adrenaline as he quickly grabbed a plate and headed back to where Jeff was waiting. He never thought this would actually happen. He had been curious about cannibalism since watching Cannibal Holocaust all those years ago. Wondered what it tasted like… what it would feel like against his tongue… how tenderly it would rip apart between his incisors…"

Thomas becomes obsessed with the taste of human flesh after a ridiculous game of truth or dare - going to extreme lengths to find willing participants to buy from - getting his girlfriend addicted in the process, will she be able to control her cravings when the meat begins to diminish?

This is a short, humorous debut, and I really enjoyed it. It's very fast-paced, well written, and although it's not as gruesome as my usual reads, it has its moments. I loved the ending and can't wait for the sequel!

This is a fantastic short horror story! It is so original and grossly entertaining! This book has an amazing storyline and excellent writing! For a short story, I was still able to learn about the characters and dive deep into this creepy and scary world of human flesh consumption!
The author is very descriptive throughout, so I really pictured the special dinners being served on a plate.
I couldn’t put this book down until I was finished reading! I can’t wait for what will come next!

Thank you to Kimberly Nicole for an arc copy of this delicious book! 🥩

This novelette grabs your attention from the get go and doesn't let go. What could possibly go wrong with a classic alcohol fueled game?! Read this and find out! I was stunned at the waves of emotions this book brought me through, from not sure if I can finish the book to wanting more! The description was on point through the whole thing and made me question myself even.

How far would you go?!

What a ride this book was! As a former addict myself the entire time I kept thinking, well it only takes one time lol! I mean, you can get addicted to just about anything right?

But, this was a great story and Kimberly knows just the way to tell it! Even being as short as it was, which is not a bad thing, there was still a great twist. I can’t wait for book 2 to see how the INconsiderate cannibal operates.

Reading the summary of this little novelette, I was ready for a cannibal story with a twist and this delivered.

The descriptions were so vivid that several times I found myself wincing, imagining what the characters were feeling. The slow and steady decline of their mental health was well done too making for a very suspense plot.

I never saw that ending coming. Can’t wait for more!

I found the story fascinating! It made me howl with laughter one minute and then squirm the next. I really wanted our main character to find a way out of the situation. He found himself in. This story ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I really need to see how everything turns out. Bring on the next part!

A very short story. A very solid read. Kimberly Nicole brings you in with the promises of cannibalism and, in short order, hooks you with emotion, intensity, and a bonkers story. It's gross, it's sexy, it's heartbreaking, and it's tense.

This is the first of a series, and I'm excited to read the next installment.

This fast paced story packs a punch. It starts with a dare but delves so much deeper. This is not your typical cannibal story that will leave you guessing. It asks the question; how far will one go to give into their desires?
