Oh, if only you knew just how you taste / Oh, if only you'd seen you walk away / Oh I'd follow you into yesterday… then miles away (Again – Kehlani).

Whenever I’m asked what my favorite manga is, I always throw out a classic like Dragon Ball or Fullmetal Alchemist, but the truth is that I always silently Sasaki and Miyano in there at the end of the sentence. I don’t know what it is about this manga, but reading it is like coming across distilled magic in a bottle. And look, that might be a bit much considering the original premise being about a couple of bros who would queen out over gay manga and gay books and gay movies together long before they even even knew they had feelings for each other. And while that's actually pretty relatable, it's also like… dudes, come on now! They’re both like-minded in their dumbassery, and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. Besides, they confess their feelings for each other a lot sooner than most stories of its like, and I noticed that manga especially like to drag these things out, where the romance usually centers around characters with personalities so bland that the "will-they-won't-they" vibe is the only thing keeping the story going. Nonetheless, that's not how Sasaki and Miyano is, because this manga’s focus has always been on developing both characters alongside and separate from their love story, with aaa~all the sentimental feelings that go along with it being a bonus. In this volume, both Sasaki and Miyano have grown even closer since trading their "I love you's," but their relationship is tested by the natural distance that has grown in between them, as the former is busy finding his footing in the whole new world of college after graduating. You know how it is, “Off to college, yes, you went away, straight from high school, you up and left me. We were close friends, also lovers, did everything for one another” and all that. And while I can see why this volume might raise eyebrows at the fact that both our leads spend a good portion of it away from each other, I truly believe that it helped strengthen the story's foundation, as we get to see how these characters work as separate units instead of the eventuality of them combining into some kind of Alison Brie Together monster thing, all morphing together, "fusion-ha!" style. Metaphorically, of course. But yeah, that was the biggest issue I had with the later seasons of The Office, because both Jim and Pam, two characters who were already paper thin by design, somehow became even more boring after getting together, and rather than coming up with new and interesting ways to showcase their new dynamic, the writers instead settled for throwing in cliches like cheating plots and love-triangles to keep things going. It was lazy, and even though this volume of Sasaki and Miyano does dabble with new characters that fit into the “love-triangle” mold (Sasaki has a new Persona 5 looking bestie and Miyano causes a gaywakening for his blonde classmate), it never feels contrived in the way they usually do. Oh yeah, I also liked the big moment where Sasaki and Miyano do the John Green thing where they just take a nap together, and even though I hated that passage in Looking for Alaska for being "nice guy," "woe-is-me" nonsense, I thought it was really cute here. Okay then, I think that’s it! The more things I read, the more I feel like my main belief system centers around the fact that more LGBT+ stories should focus on the mundane day-to-day. There’s something comforting in the a story where queer folk don’t need to save the world or show how useful they can be just to be allowed to exist. Sure, that's a little corny, but this is the sweetest manga out there, so when will I get another opportunity to be this sappy! Reading a new Sasaki and Miyano volume is like listening to the gentlest love song, and even though some people are want to fill the world with silly love songs… what’s wrong with that?

Every time we drew our lines / They grew legs and walked themselves down the road / Boundaries is my middle name / I give respect where it's asked or it's shown.

ㅤ♡ I've been waiting to read volume 10 and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT ㅤ♡

It feels like I've grown up with them because what do you mean they look older and Sasaki is in college and Miyano is almost done too? It feels like it was yesterday when they met :') oh my god my babies! 🥺

This volume is about them just growing their relationship now that Sasaki is in college. It continues from vol 9 in that way. It's so amazing to see their relationship's development and easiness. While their relationship is going strong, they both are feeling left out in the other's life. This tends to develop into overthinking about stuff! But this just means that they really care about each other and want to be together for a very long time 😌 They even get a lil bit jealous of other people whenever they are with other people. I'm loving it!!! Miyano wants to make Sasaki happy himself, not anyone else *cue screaming*

I can't wait for Miyano to get accepted into Sasaki's college and hopefully, we will see them together going to school once again? I'm so excited! Also shoutout to their moms <3 I love that whenever they go to each other's house they are always welcomed there and they have such a good relationship with their families. Mama Sasaki and Mama Miyano now have a group chat too! *awww*

I miss Hirano-senpai- maybe I need to start Hirano and Kagiura ASAP.

4.5 / 5: I figured something out. I don’t just want him to be happy. I want him to be happy with me…After we started dating, I realized that for us to be together, it isn’t enough to just love him—

…miyano has to keep finding ways to reach out to sasaki, no matter the distance (and that includes getting new piercings!!) :’)

it honestly baffles me how much i’ve seen sasaki & miyano grow over the course of ten volumes. this one was just as chaotic as the others, mainly with miyano and his friends prepping their last cultural festival— tashiro will always be my favorite side character because of how hyperactive he is. we also continue to see miyano gushing over his favorite BL and him & sasaki bonding over different creators.

what feels different is a lot of things, really….miyano didn’t just shoot up in height (😭😭😭😭 he’s getting so much taller omg), but sasaki is also finding new potential paths in front of him that he never really considered before. i’ve always loved all the little details of him & his family’s small bakery business, so finding out that he’s genuinely considering majoring in econ to potentially become a tax accountant to help out even more…im just so proud 🤧.

he doesn’t have it all figured out and who can even say for certain if that’s the specific career he’ll have?? but he’s thinking about this stuff more seriously and he’s holding himself more accountable. as recounted in one of the previous volumes, sasaki was once very wayward and pretty listless in the years before he met miyano….im very happy to see him making new friends in college (one even going with him to a big BL event to make sure miyano didn’t miss out!!) and thinking about what he wants to do in the future.

the scenes between him & miyano will always remind me that i could read about them forever :’) they’re a big comfort ship to me. and they’re still learning a lot, both with & without each other.

from what i read in the afterword, there’ll still be more volumes coming so im really grateful to the author for that. this coming of age series could go on forever and i will never stop reading it 💚

Uf Shou Harusono me matas.

BOF NO PUEDO😭😭😭

I have a theory about Ugawa (Sasaki's college friend): I think he's either mangaka or somehow heavily involved in fandom the way cosplayers/content creators are.

Reasoning:
1. Wearing a mask to the event/con so he "won't be recognized"
2. Taking a picture of Sasaki and apologizing because "it was reflex" (collecting reference pictures?)
3. Wanting to visit Sasaki's school because "I'm extremely curious about your boys' school" (his was co-ed)
4. Wanting to take pictures (again) at the culture festival and the other known otaku (Shirahama) thinking he looks familiar multiple times
5. Make-up tips?? Idk if that means anything, but it seemed significant

I'm mostly putting this here so I can remember my theory and see if I was right once more volumes come out in English.

I love this series so much. My wife bought it for me, and I read it in one sitting the day it arrived in the mail. The story is just so sweet, and even the jealousy trope was handled well. I love the communication skills the characters model—as well as the patience and attentiveness. Sasaki is just so thoughtful!
The two boys are managing the semi-distanced relationship with grace and understanding. It’s so rare to see such a healthy romance in literature, and the series is such a feel-good for me.

Favorite character: Miyano. He’s just so adorablei

Sasaki is an absolute vibe!
I love how down to earth this volume is - the next stage of their lives and their relationship is portrayed in such a real way. Aaaand they're still adorable as ever! This volume really feels like it sets up the next, and a new chapter of their world - I can't wait for volume 11!!

[ps. not enough Hanzawa - honestly he deserves his own book atp 🙄🤣]
