Shy continues to mean well and that’s my biggest praise for the series as a whole. This wraps up the latest big battle while, indeed, promising another big battle and throwing more characters into the mix.

And, if you like that sort of thing, it’s fine. This is the sort of manga that spends an entire chapter on somebody’s death throes and doesn’t blink twice. Not that it actually has much by way of emotional resonance, unless you’re especially attached to ninjas.

The attempted rehabilitation of Keheheh continues, which I generally chalk up to the character being popular with… somebody? I do think her relationship with Spirit, who is functioning as a mother figure of sorts, is actually nice.

It’s one of those stories where nothing is defined enough so anything can happen and it will be exactly as dramatic as the scenario requires it. There’s a fun costume change at the end, furthering my belief that this is secretly a magical girl story with a superhero filter on it.

Watching love and hope win the day is hard to do without feeling corny, even in these lousy times, and this doesn’t quite have the chops for it. This isn’t the most exciting volume, everything seems to take ages to finish, although seeing Shy get her due is nice.

As always, I think Teru is the reason to keep reading this - her determination to do the right thing feels great, even if the Care Bear-adjacent story falls flat (although they admittedly acknowledge that life is hard for everybody, which I appreciated).

3 stars - Shy keeps me reading Shy and will seemingly do so for the continuing future. If you need something earnest where good triumphs with niceness, this does the job.

Vuoto prima ha liberato l'oscurità contenuta nella bolla dove sono intrappolati Shy e gli altri eroi, ed ora tornata in se vuole assorbire tutta l'oscurità uccidendosi, ma Shy non è d'accordo e vuole trovare un modo di dissolvere l'oscurità senza che a pagarne il prezzo sia Vuoto, quindi fa della sua abilita del fuoco, luce di speranza che spazza via le tenebre esattamente come il sole. Tutto sembra risolto ma qualcosa non va, Mai ( vero nome di Vuoto) si inizia a dissolvere, perché il potere di Amararilk consuma l'utilizzatore che sia vivo o morto, quindi quando si viene liberato si dissolve anche il potere che teneva in vita il burattino, con una scena strappalacrime Mai racconta a Shy che durante una delle sue missione un villaggio vicino prese fuoco e che in quell'inferno di fiamme vide la precedente eroina giapponese. Mentre Pesha è riuscita, con un escamotage a catturare un altro Amararilk Uhuh, che portata nel covo degli eroi ci dice che Stigma riesce a legare l'anima ad un corpo tramite anelli collocati nel cuore che poi dopo la sconfitta rilasciano. Questo volume è pieno di informazioni sia su chi sono gli Amararilk e cosa vogliono, La scena delle dipartita di Mai come Tsibeta è Agrodolce, non è la disperazione pura ma commozione, per la scena, adesso sappiamo molto di più sul mondo di Shy e un cenno di chi era la precedente eroina del Giappone, tutto ciò che che sento quando leggo Shy è purezza sia nei personaggi anche quelli Malvagi e sugli eroi che nella storia in se. L'autore/autrice non è mai rude nelle sue tavole anche nelle fasi più concitate, che un volume nonostante i temi trattati sia molto scorrevole e leggibile in una decina di minuti. Shy continua a evolvere come personaggio restando comunque incline a se stessa, nel prendere decisioni nell'aiutare, il concetto tra timidezza e rovente adolescenza che non riesce a farla star calma e posata sia durante la vita di tutti i giorni, che nel suo ruolo da eroe.
