I keep saying that I'm not a big short story/Anthology fan, yet I've been reading an excessive amount of them. This was also a short story collection and even though I would've preferred a single story this was a fun, easy read. 3.25/5
I love it when authors do books like this with short stories of quiet time in between the books full of action. It's a nice breathing break before going back to fighting, specially with all the goblins around in these books. I loved seeing the little every day to day life of several of our secondary characters, just going about their business on lazy days, or even pairing up with other people for different adventures, which is a really nice change of setting. I would've loved reading a story about Priestess too, but we get to see her really often in the story so following Guild Girl, Cow Girl, and even Spearman was nice for a change. And this has also helped me prepare for the next volume, which I already know has a huge horde of goblins waiting.
An enjoyable anthology - WITH A GLARING FORMATTING ISSUE IN CHAPTER 8
Knocking off a star for a big formatting error in chapter 8 where about a page's worth of text repeats itself. Please mend this!
Still different from the first two, but more enjoyable than the 3rd novel, if I may say. This is a collection of single chapter stories focusing on a cast of characters, all wonderfully tied together in the final chapter.
There's a lot of perspective in this volume, and seeing the world from so many new angles and characters was a treat. Typically we see from a group's perspective, but this volume felt much more individual based and it was pleasant to learn more about char and their impact on the Goblin Slayer world.
For those looking for the main story arc, this is not a necessary read. But for those wanting to read more of this world and the characters within it, this is a solid volume.
This is a short stories book that fills in a bit of what happened between volumes 1 & 2 and 2 & 3. While I thought “here we go, milking the series already”,the fact is the whole tone of the book is carefree and ends up working quite well. If feels like Goblin Slayer went slice of life/comedy. There’s a bit of its usual goblin related drama, but just a little bit and felt thrown in to appease the fans. It’s got some moments that were Konosuba like :) Book 5 is going to be decisive in breaking or making this series... we really need some progress on the main story.
Me gusta que vayan mechando las novelas con otros tomos de relatos cortos que sirvan de nexo entre distintas historias y den un pantallazo general al mundo de Goblin Slayer.
A bunch of random stories that doesn’t really add nothing interesting to this serie. If you are reading this books you can skip this one and wait for the next one.
This was quite average, not a lot of action, a lot of the book felt like... lul, dull moments, which is fine if you're into that but what I am saying is that it just didn't feel like a lot was happening. The author explains at the end of the book that this was done like a collection of short stories and didn't have much Goblin Slayer in it and that's why I guess it felt like it wasn't really a new addition to the series... what I'm saying is, it didn't quite feel like Vol 4, the party was also split up and was saw a lot of flashbacks.
Not awful, just not all that great. Mildly interesting to see these little slices into other people's lives and what they do during some of their downtime. But it was somewhat disjointed and didn't really add much to the world, at least for me. If you like the world I wouldn't go so far as to say skip it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say be sure to read this one. If you somehow missed it I doubt you'd notice anything missing later.
Verdict: A book of filler episodes that is neither good nor bad. You'll have to decide if that interests you.
Me gustó bastante. Este volumen podría parecer extraño para quienes no lean mangas, al tratarse de varias historias cortas y no de una sola historia larga que continúe dónde se quedó el volumen anterior. Incluso habrá quien piense que ésto es relleno, pero es un muy buen libro.
This volume was good and I liked it. I just feel it should have come before vol 3. That said, it had several cute moments I just liked them in manga form more.
This book was to the Goblin Slayer series what a filler episode is to a television show: we got to enjoy the characters, but nothing really profound regarding the plot took place.
Vol. 4 stepped back a bit with a few short stories that revolved around the various people and adventurers around Goblin Slayers, as well as a few other adventures Goblin Slayer got himself into that may or may not involve goblins in general. To be fair, it was quite a change of pace compared to the earlier three volumes but it was still nice to read about the other tales involving other characters besides Goblin Slayer. I especially loved the few tales that revolved around the things that happened prior to the Harvest festival. It felt like a nice addition to what we've already read in volume 3.
This one was very chill volume , even more so than the last. We get more insight of most characters. And the events were not chronologically after prior volume.
I enjoy the world and I imagine if you're reading one volume after the other, it is nice to take a break and delve deeper into the characters with some side stories.
I mostly just want the goblin slaying though.
