Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
After reading and enjoying A Murky Murder, I was ready to spend some more time in Vermont with Bobbie Walkers. In A Perilous Package, she is now a freelance journalist for the Newfield News. The new owner and editor-in-chief, Abigail Dale, is proving to be difficult to work with. While working on a story, Bobbie witnesses Colton, the owner of ChemTree, open a package that explodes and kills him. Colton's chemical company was polluting the local lake. He had many enemies who could have wanted to see him dead. Bobbie won't rest until she solves his murder. The plot of this book flows smoothly from where the first book left off. The people who have become a part of Bobbie's new life, Rachael West, Kate West, Kyle, Matt Smith, and Bailey the dog, all appear in this book. I enjoyed reading this story (in one sitting) and I look forward to future books in the series.
This is the second book in this series; I also read and enjoyed the first book, but this one stands alone well. I love the setting of the lakeside town, and Bobbie is a great protagonist. She’s full of spunk and daring as she investigates crimes alongside her job at the local newspaper. She’s remembering little things from her young childhood as she is still curious about her past of living in that town in the same cottage, with her now-deceased parents. The main mystery in this book is fun to try to solve alongside Bobbie—it’s well-written and intriguing. There are interesting secondary characters also, and I look forward to reading more in this series. I can definitely recommend this book and series; I was provided an ARC, but these opinions are my own.
By this second book, I know I've learned enough about the two possible guys in Bobbie's life to say I'm Team Kyle all the way. His cousin, Bobbie's new friend Rachael hinted at something in his past and I'm super curious to find out since I have my guesses ready lol.
The mystery was a good one and seemed to show Bobbie that she can still be a tough ol’ reporter (even though she gets kinda irritating when she goes rogue) but also have help from those who care about her. And her sweet foster pup Bailey who's not a guard dog definitely helped in the showdown. I'm guessing everyone was about to sleep lots better and enjoy an awesome Christmas now the perp was caught. Can't wait for the next book
Since I didn’t read book #1, I felt a little lost on some of the backstory. That being said, it was easy enough to pick up the story and go forward with this new murder mystery and Bobbie’s journey on trying to find out her and her parents story. A bombing victim, who was not a sympathetic person, is now dead, and Bobbie is hot on the trail of finding the killer. Follow her and her friends as she interviews all the suspects and gets the killer in the end. A nice mystery and very easy to follow.
Cindy Bell once again presents an excellent mystery, set in a small town, Bobbie has several mysteries to solve, starting with who killed the local scuzzy business man... Lots of leads, but Ms Bell managed to keep me guessing up to the end, she is one of few authors that can keep me guessing and not figuring it out!
I got this as a Giveaway wins and I am very thankful for that. I love these short stories that are wrapped up nicely but leave room for more to be added if desired. I'm not sure why this didn't hit at 4 or 5 stars for me, but it just seemed okay. That said, I will probably read the rest of the series, as I've read the first two. I can just see me finishing it. Nice cosy mystery.
Another great story. A business polluting the water with chemical waste. An activist making his actions know. Is the Mayor clean or dirty. You will be wondering about that and much more up to the very end.
Pretty decent story but why bother naming where this takes place when you've got no descriptions about Vermont at all? It might as all be Anytown, USA!!! Just doesn't give a good feel. Disappointed to say the least.
So tired females “I can take care of myself” then proceed to make stupid dumb decisions and have to get recused by a male. Also, not a fan of triangles. I skipped a few chapters and read the last two. No need to go back...IDC (I don’t care)
The second book was as good as the first. I enjoyed it thoroughly and looking forward to the next book. I thought telling of Bobbie's life when she was young was intriguing. Recommend reading.
Too much backstory crammed into the first chapter. Lots of characters thrown in all at once. Maybe because it is part of a series? Definitely cannot be read as a stand alone.
Book two in this series but just as enjoyable as the first book. This is a good quick evening read. Very fast paced and keeps you interested guessing whodunit!
Just like the first book I don’t fully trust these characters. I don’t think they fully tell everything they know. Makes you wonder what side they may be on in this little town mystery.
Oddly written, always using first names which just was awkward. Plot was not creative. And for a story about a woman and dog, the dog was nowhere to be seen. TBH, the animal was neglected throughout the book, with the protagonist gone for full days and the poor dog mostly left alone.
