I am leaving an honest review for this book.

I can’t even explain the journey this book takes you. This book truly encompasses love, grief, and sadness. I was definitely crying while reading. It is such a beautifully written story and I highly recommend everyone to read this book. It was truly an honor to read The Loss.

Not even sure what to say about this book. It certainly was not anything like I normally read and seriously thought numerous times that I wanted to stash it on my DNF shelf but was gifted the ebook to read and review so I carried on and finished it.

Given that, I found the storyline was very repetitive in certain sayings such as: “it’s ok, we will get through this together” or “you are not alone, we will get through it together” or “we’re in this together, always”. I just found these phrases overused.

I honestly didn’t even find that there was much of a storyline about the characters and Julian’s sickness which could have been played in a lot more throughout the book. I didn’t gravitate to any of the characters because of the lack of substance with any of them. In the end I felt for Julian being alone but I had a feeling that there would be a twist (if that’s what you want to call it).

I don’t see me reading the second book in the series.

Wow!!

This was a story I found while searching for heartfelt novels. But this captivated me, it pulled me in and I felt so much. To feel Laura’s anguish from having to watch her husband become sick, but also try love someone else as well. She didn’t have to choose, she got both. But how do you process loss when it happens? Sometimes you run. Logan, losing his twin. Knowing he loved both his brother and his wife, but losing both…hard! I knew his pain, i felt the heartache. I definitely recommend this.

This one will make you cry. The heartbreak is unbearable.
I’ll be honest and some of the writing is not my favorite , I feel some parts should have been written a little different. But the story itself is wholesome.
But the ending…… literally looked up and said WTF 🤬. After watching me cry while reading, my husband was like what’s wrong. Let me just say the ending pisssd me off. Like how TF could she do that. And then The author leaves you with

to be continued…… 🤬

Wow, what a roller coaster of emotions. Luisa Perez is a fantastic written. I felt all of the raw emotions her characters were going through. She put me in their skin so I could feel the fear; the joy, the pain, the suffering, the sorrow. This is a book about grief and loss, but it's also about life and how truly short it is, and how we should make the most of it. Laugh when you are hurting, live when you feel nothing, and most of all, to love truly love when you're scared.
The spice is right up there. This is a reverse harem book, so MFM.
The MFC has a one night stand with one twin, only to fall in love with his brother. Then, to find out his twin was her one-night stand, they both invited him into their relationship, so it became a polygamous relationship. Through the grief of losing one of them comes the united love for each other.

A whirlwind of emotions, one second the plot is "hot and heavy" and then the next it takes a devastating turn. I can't wait to read the next story.
I was given a complimentary copy of the book from the author via voracious readers only.

Such an emotional read

This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. There were plot twists that I was not expecting. My curiosity remained piqued throughout the storyline. For those who like their romances spicy, this is for you. A great read for sure. The second book in the series is on my tbr!

This book is full of emotions!
Let’s talk about the characters:
Laura- sometimes I really wanted to slap her, but in the other side I understand that people cope differently.
Julian- what can I say? He is the perfect man. From the way he reacts to his diagnosis to the way he copes with his final days. As Laura said in her eulogy he was a man with a good heart and he loved and protected everyone.
Logan- oh man! Logan has entered my collection of book boyfriends!! Give beard and tattoos everyday!
Shannon- she is so real and funny. Everything a best friend should be!
I cannot wait to read the Grief and see what happens next.

The Loss is an emotional rollercoaster than had me laughing, crying, and wanting with the characters.

There are lots of fun references through the story to other literary works were a good addition and super fun. It became like a game to find them while I was reading-bonus points if I was familiar with them.

This got a 3.75 from me that I rounded up to a nice even 4. Its pacing is a little inconsistent, and there are some formatting errors (I don’t rate based on those, just pointing them out). The story itself is raw and vulnerable, taking us along for the right of human emotion when dealing with loss.

Julian, Logan, and Laura had my heart from the beginning and that didn’t change the more I read. Overall the story is amazing and the characters are well rounded.

This is only the first part of the series and I’ll be checking out the next book for sure.

In questo libro i sentimenti dei personaggi sono così reali da farti sentire come se stessi vivendo tu stessa la storia.
L’ultima scena di Julian? Ho pianto a dirotto!!

Reading this book has been an emotional rollercoaster that had me hooked from the first page.
What I loved most is how the book describes the struggle of knowing your partner is going to die and Julian’s last scene?(IYKYK) I was bawling my eyes out. The last chapters were a whirlwind of emotions that left me heartbroken.
If you’re into stories that describe tough emotions with honesty and heart, "The Loss" is definitely worth the read. Just be ready for all the feels!

I love a good why choose book but this book isn’t a usual “why choose” it dives into life before, during and after losing a loved one. I really liked the characters in the book and how you could feel how much they loved each other. 4 ⭐️ because some of the dialogue felt dry. Overall great book, I recommend!

First off, I must thank the author, Luisa Perez, for gifting me a copy of her book. It is a privilege to receive books directly from authors and I'm always grateful.

I'll start this review by saying I will be recommending this book, the synopsis of which is what caught my attention. I'm always willing to explore grief, loss and love in any story to see how authors treat it. It is not an easy subject to read and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to write.

I was expecting the story to focus more on Laura and her husband Julian and how they were preparing to, and navigating, his pending death. What I got was a lot of spice, too much if I'm being honest, that I found distracting from the plot. Yes, I know that Julian was intent on Laura being happy, enjoying her time with him, and that he understood he was leaving her with their unfulfilled dreams.
He was also concerned about his twin brother Logan and how he would handle his death and try as I might, I couldn't understand why he gave them his blessing to be together in the name of love and ensuring they would have each other when he was gone. I had a problem with that. Was Laura his property?
I mean, Julian could only hope his wife and brother would stay together after his death. It was not guaranteed which was borne out later in the story.
I do understand and sympathize with both men, the love they had for Laura was good but too much emphasis was placed on Laura and Logan's relationship and not enough on the married couple. Perhaps I missed the point.

I was okay with some of their activities but it was too much at some points. If I'm being honest, I would figure a terminally ill person would want to spend as much time with his/her spouse because he/she doesn't know realistically how much time he has to live despite what the doctors said.

What upset me most was when Logan got into an accident and Laura opted to stay with him. I mean, her husband is the one dying and he has to return home alone? How? Why? And just as I imagined would happen, he died alone. So much for being there for him. Laura knew he didn't want to die alone. She should have gone home with Julian and leave Logan in the care of the nurses and doctors. He was not in imminent danger of dying.

I think Laura was selfish wanting both brothers. I really do. I didn't feel any sympathy for her at all. And I know how grief can skew your actions, thoughts and beliefs. She was selfish all along while they constantly went out of their way to please her and make her happy. Were her promises, those she made to the brothers especially the commitment at the vow renewal, empty? Or did she genuinely feel she could keep them?

The final straw for me was the text message she sent to Logan on the plane. I was already over her and wished her well. Why did she not share she was pregnant knowing this could be the light in Logan's dark world after he lost his twin brother and best friend? He was grieving too. Perhaps she was consumed by her guilt.

The plot apart, the pacing of the book was off. It was too slow in the beginning and I kept hoping that we would hurry up and get to Julian's end days or learn lots more about him and how he was truly feeling instead of all the trysts. Then, when we got there, the pace picked up, and it all felt rushed to get the story finished.
Another aspect I was hoping to read more off was the scenery of their neighbourhood, the places they went to, really more of Dublin and Waterford. I was trying to picture places the characters ventured to when mentioned but there was nothing specific that allowed me to travel there.

Buy the book or read it in Kindle Unlimited.

Would I read other books by the author? Yes. I like and appreciated how much information she provided on palliative care, end of life procedures, grief counselling, coping with death and grief.

And, in case you're wondering, no, I didn't shed one tear. It didn't make me bawl at no point. Don't let me stop you from reading this story which offers another perspective on dying and the challenges people, both those who are terminally ill and the loved ones they'll leave behind to mourn, face.

Have tissues and be prepared to use them.

Tucked within these pages are such a roller coaster ride of emotions that it makes your head go in a tailspin. You're brought full frontal to the fact that grief is a living, breathing thing that you need to deal with and you have to deal with it in your own ways. Everyone is different, even if there is a slight pattern for it, if covertly so.

At the same time, there's a forbidden relationship within, one that makes you feel guilty for wanting it while at the same time, wondering if there's a blessing in disguise for the people who are going through such grief, and praying that they can work through all their emotions in order to allow themselves to sink into the loving arms of someone who truly will understand what each other is going through.

In the author's comments, she stated that she didn't think this novel could be a best seller. I, for one, fully disagree!
You are such a compelling author. Every character was written with so much thought. I felt I could have been friends with Laura. Her relationship with Julian, and then Logan, was so special. She really got the best of both worlds!
The writing in regards to end of life care was so thoughtful and showed how compassionate the end of life team is to the terminal patient and the family. The nurses, doctors, social workers, volunteers, etc., are such selfless, compassionate people & the author really showed that in her writing.
I would definitely recommend this book. It was fun, loving, and a tearjerker all in one. I CAN'T WAIT for the continuation of this great story.

The book had a beautiful romantic story at its core. It takes you on an emotional rollercoaster from page one to the major cliffhanger, making you want to pick up the next book.

I was hoping Laura would spend more time with Julian and Logan.

End-of-life care seemed to be a theme of significant importance to the author.

The book had engaging parts, but overall, it didn’t fully capture my interest.

The Loss is one of those books that completely catch you by surprise in the very best way. This is my first read by this author and her ability to put words to paper in this book completely consumed every second of my time from start to finish. It evoked emotions from deep in my soul and kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. This is a story that needed to be told and definitely needs to be read.

This is my kind of book! A book that makes you laugh, cry, and hot.:) The complex relationships with love at their core kept me hooked, showing that love can really get us through anything - even loss. If you're looking for an emotionally charged story, with spicy romance and an exploration of grief, this is definitely a must-read.
