Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Winnie the Pooh - The Little Things in Life: Simple reflections from the Hunderd-Acre Wood is a sweet and cozy book! The drawings are super cute, and they make the story even more enjoyable. I love how Pooh and his friends remind us to enjoy the simple things, like sharing honey or watching the clouds and the book made me feel warm inside. I recommend it to anyone who likes books about the little lovely things in life... and who doesn't love Winnie the Pooh?
A beautiful book reminding the reader of the little things in life- stunning illustrations, lovely little story. I ate it up, it's adorable and definitely one I'm going to keep to re-read during those tough moments.
I got this the other day when I went on a book tour of Sheffield and I've read it with my morning cuppa today.
It's a really quick read took me less than half hour because it is simple reflections based on a story about Pooh and his friends searching the Hundred-Acre Wood for Christopher Robins lucky stone. Even though this is Winnie the Pooh it's not really a children's book it's classed as "Health and Lifestyle" because it's more about the symbolism of the story and appreciating "the little things in life". I love Winnie the Pooh ... especially Tigger so for me this was a really cute read. I loved the page with Tigger dancing in the rain symbolising positivity even in difficult times ♥️... Tigger is such a guru for life 😂. A lovely book and one to cherish from my little bookshop tour with my sister -in-law Chan. 🫶🏻
Cute, sweet and filled with little reflections, delivered so beautifully, they have the potential to manifest extensive outcomes in one’s life.
I love Pooh bear and his friends. The art in this book is as heart warming and adorable as ever. It will be a book that stays on my shelf and comforts me and my inner child anytime I choose to pick it up.
Is there anything better than snuggling up under a blanket on a rainy day with old friends that have been there since childhood. Ironically this was bought for me by my best friend that I have been friends with since childhood, so it was cosy in every way imaginable.
This is such a fun and cute read with a beautiful story and stunning illustrations. Whenever I think of Disney but especially about Winnie The Pooh it is about learning a lesson in the most wholesome way, and that is exactly what happens in this book. Christopher Robin loses his favourite stone as things don't need to be valuable to be important. Pooh then decides to help him and in doing so ropes in the whole crew to help and learn little lessons along the way.
This is such a quick, easy yet inspiring read that reminded me so much of The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse, I will definitely dip into whenever I just need to hear something affirmative or wholesome. I loved it
Such a unique, delightful and wholesome read!!! I absolutely love that there was a main narrative arc, complemented by affirmations and reflections (as opposed to just a collection of random quotes). Our beloved iconic characters were all in their element. This is a simple yet meaningful and super sweet book that everyone should pick up ❤️
This book was an enjoyable read, it didn't take long to get through but the illustrations and the affirmations and sentiments behind each page were beautiful. I will cherish this book and I'm glad I had a chance to read it
It is a nice book with the author putting little life lesons after every scene of the story. However the little ones dont need this explanation, they should figure it themselves
What a beautiful book. I loved the story, the characters and the messages they really touched me and I'm a huge lover of Winnie The Pooh so I'm happy I picked this book up.
The illustrations are stunning but I found the words and morals a little lacking as they were too obvious and didn’t leave any room for actual reflection.
