This book had potential and had me hooked at the beginning but there were some areas I got confused because the scenes jumped around with no indication of a new chapter/scene
✒️There were a lot of dropped pieces of the story, while some plot points were overdetailed.
✒️It's also an extra convoluted story for a pretty straightforward plan. Twists that pop up, although scandalous, dont add anything to the bigger mystery. Some of the twists and turns were interesting, but a couple of character moments I wish were flushed out better so it ends anticlimactic.
✒️Forrester was a complicated character. Wish we had a better throughline for him. He ends up being an emphatic character despite soke serious and heavy flaws, but his moments left me intrigued for the final one on one with his wife. Same with Vance's friend, a brief inteufing respite. We know she has a young child and is tied to the mafia in some way, but she's interesting and shines in her brief spot.
✒️Also, the timeline felt really off. Were certain actions days, weeks, or months apart? I couldn't tell. The formatting was a little odd on my Kindle app.
✒️My biggest issue....this book is classified as a romance. It is NOT a romance. It is suspense.
✒️I'm struggling with the "understood the assignment" theme in regards to the revenge plan. Reading the blurb, I thought the hubby was going to be a child sexual predator or maybe having an affair with a teen.
Ultimately, the real twist seemed to come but with little real meat to it. I enjoyed it as a quiet Sunday afternoon read but I wish there was just a little bit more meat on the bone.
Yo, have you ever read a book, and at the end, we're left chuckling out loud at the absurdity of it all?? Like, was I the one that flew over the cuckoo's nest?
First of all, let's talk about this author, as the title said, "they understood the assignment." This was a quick read at 112 pages. they did not waste a single one on fluff. There was no catalog, no publications, Prolog, or epilogs. Just a cover and straight drama!
This book is not for everyone as the MMC was on the DL 😉. Much like his wife, I did not see that coming, but it was interesting to see that even side ninjas don't lack audacity. All MM activities were implied for the prude readers like myself.
It was just the dummy activities surrounding the situation that had me screaming... cause whett??
In the end was the last man or woman standing really the winner? You be the judge.
Wow!! Neena finally gets pregnant and finds out her husband is having an affair with a guy!! Vance’s wife is already in the know and wants to kill her husband! Vance was arrogant and entitled! He practically made Forrester do it against his will! In the end Neena got away with killing her husband and was 3 million dollars richer! I guess you can get away with murder!!
