All It Took Was Your Spark

Rate this book
Eerie Levin is an incoming freshman with a violin case in hand and academic aspirations in the forefront of her mind. She has no interest in romance - not until an administration error places her as the dorm roommate of one Hunter Hyde.
Hunter Hyde, a smug rocker who does everything he can to fluster and enrage her on a daily basis.
Soon they finds that sparks may fly, despite all their best intentions... especially after Eerie walks into the bathroom when this insufferable (yet well endowed) roommate is taking a shower, while being, well, hard, and very, very naked.
While Hunter first has the upper hand in their un-named, oftentimes insane sexual battle, they soon find out that Eerie, too, can play that game.
And she doesn't like losing.

A slow burn college romance with forced proximity & grumpy/sunshine where she’s the grump? TAKE MY MONEY.

I’m not a third person narration girl, but when it’s written well, like this book is, i honestly can’t complain about it.

Our FMC was an all-black wearing introvert who gets paired with a cheeky male roommate, much to her disgust. But soon, through his sheer will and determination, he wins her over, and let me tell you… the spice… it’s spicy. 🥵

Not only is Hunter a shameless flirt, but he’s also in a band.. the LEAD singer in the band, nonetheless. He was hot as hell and I honestly take my hat off to Eerie for being able to hold to her own will so much because I would have fallen to my knees in an instant.

It comes in over 500 pages, which is my only critique.

The writing, the spice, the relationship and character development, it was all totally brilliant for a debut novel. I can’t wait to read more of what Ayelet has to write in the future ☺️🖤

Third person is not exactly my cup of tea, but somehow it worked here. 🥰 I loved the banter, the spicy scenes was chef’s kiss 🤌🏻 and you also get emotional at some point. I’m also a competitive person, so I loved be involved in this book’s dynamic!

Cute college romance with lotssss of spice. Rivals to lovers after accidentally being assigned as roommates, with grumpy/sunshines vibes but SHE’s the grumpy haha! Kind of a slow burn for the first half of the book with teasers of their feelings but neither wants to be the one to back down from their battle of wills. Written in third person which I normally hate but was written very well so we’ll allow it 😂💕

This fucking book! This fucking book killed me.
Okay, let's start with a full disclosure. I'm 27 years old, and I feel like I'm a little over the whole college romance kind of thing… give me fae alpha holes, my billionaires and men that have their shit together.
But I was intrigued nonetheless, especially when I saw the excerpts of the good stuff…
Meet Eerie. Just as her name suggests, she's "not like the other girls," and she is headed off to college. She wants only to study, and she never cares about the other gender, and boys are yucky. Until she meets the wonderful golden retriever Hunter Hyde, who is, for some reason, her roommate because of some mistake they made at the offices. They live together for a full year, fall in love but don't admit it, while Hunter works his ass off to win this band competition that could get him a record deal
So far so good? Well, no.
She sees his dick literally in the second chapter and it all goes downhill from there.
If you grew up during the Tumblr era like my old self, you would feel like you're back in time, all the way back to the 2012-2013 style of writing. When you find a really good fan fiction, the one where the author says "Oh god, I got hit by a car so sorry for not posting".
This book feels like a combination of any one direction-5sos- any band you ever liked fan fiction smushed with Wednesday Addams but Jewish. But like, the good ones.
The book is a fucking slow burn, I've found myself on multiple occasions screaming at the book "Kiss already you fools" and laughing at every single name of all the chapters. And when the smut gets there, oh honey, it is a 40-page top-tier smut-fast. (are all college guys like that? Cause I did not expect that one bit)
All In all, this book was a fucking roller-coaster ride, with wanting to punch everyone in the book, to squealing in the middle of the night.
But be aware, by the 300 page, I was getting a little bored. It is quite the exact plot line, especially if you've been reading for a long time, and it's not a light read under any circumstance. All in all, I give it 3.5/5
