He isn't allergic to felines per se...but this catgirl makes him feverish.
Mark McGuiness has been working hard. As the number one firefighter on the Hot Shot Heroes calendar, he's always had his pick when it came to the dating scene, too. But there comes a time in every man's life where the allure of casual encounters starts to dim.
Enter Zuzu, quirky catgirl on the run, bamboozled, sort of, into a contract with Maid For You. She's a whole bag of nerves and cuteness and questionable competency when it comes to maid duties--and now she's Mark's problem. However, something unexpected happens...they get along quite well. More than that, after a few early hiccups, a quick bond of trust and affection forms between them.
But it's not all sunshine and roses. Dark figures from Mark and Zuzu's pasts are looking for them both, and the pair of new lovers find out that they have more common enemies than they'd expect.
Virgil and Peter delivered another well written, thought out and realistic story with a cat girl this time. Honestly, Zuzu is one of the most realistic cat girls that I've had the pleasure of reading. The interactions between her and Mark were heartfelt and also nail biting. I found myself cheering their relationship on more and more. Overall, the story was well written, the characters were heartfelt and realistic and the way the plot plays out is intriguing and sets up the framework for the next book. I am looking forward to the next book and definitely recommend picking this one up and reading it, you won't be let down!
So first off: I loved the first book. I loved it to bits. So I had some high hopes for this book.
The Good:
Great characters and a little more fast-paced than the first book. Also, the stakes are a lot higher, which really keeps you with the story. Having some moments of calm where we see familiar characters of the previous book was a really nice touch and they even had some character development if you have read the previous book you'll get what I mean.
There aren't really any "empty" moments. If you are looking for slice of life, it has it but sparingly.
The Bad:
I didn't really 'get' the ending. The final confrontation in the book while heartwrenching did not make sense to me unless the author wants to spoil us and do a proper villain introduction in a third installment? Like our main MC gets beaten nearly an inch of his life just for it to be an experiment? The whole 'respect' thing could have been used a bit more explanation or just some fleshing out.
One thing I was concerned about was about the main male lead. I was concerned that it was kind of difficult to differentiate him from the male lead in the previous books in the beginning since they are on paper quite similar. But as the story progressed it makes its clear that while they are similar in certain regards they do differentiate quite a bit.
The epilogue in this book was much shorter and modest in comparison with the previous book. Its fitting don't get me wrong and it probably is good we don't see any children from our couple since they aren't ready for that yet but I felt like it lacked that punch..The engagement is nice but I guess it didn't hit as hard as I wanted it too.
Despite my minor gripes, I did really enjoy myself with this sequel and I hope and pray there is perhaps a third installment? Not sure how it would work but we kind of have some groundwork for a new book??
This book takes place between the ending and epilogue of the last, and oh boy do I love it. I was a bit apehensive at first, with Zuzu's introduction giving me a feeling of dread directed at what the outcome would be for her. I am pleased to say that my aprehension was misplaced and Virgil has written yet another banger of a book (pun intended). My only complaint is that there isn't more to read.
I liked this one a lot better than the last, but at the same time. Not much actually happened. Or at least for me, it seemed like not much happened.
It feels like the antagonist in this story was almost thrown in so there would be one. Like it wasn’t poorly done, but it didn’t feel integral.
I wasn’t sure I’d get this after the first one, and again I’m not sure if I’ll get the next. This is an in between book series for me. No strong need to read the next, but I did enjoy the book.
This second story is a great continuation of the series, picking up with a character from the previous as the main character and seeing all of the world building makes me want to start the third one now, especially with the tease at the end on what might be next. Definitely read this story about 2 people that need saving in one way or another finding family in each other.
I hoped they were going to write a series and I am sooooo happy that they are. I can definitely see some parallels to WYLAMG but in the best ways
I loved the dynamic between this couple and tbh it makes me wanna go back and read the first one again. This is definitely climbing to be one of my favorite series
Normally, I don’t bother writing out reviews but for this one, I will gladly do so. This was just as good, if not better than the first! I was surprised how invested I was in this story. it made me laugh. It made me sad and it made me happy all at the same time. I highly recommend this, and I can’t wait for more!
Virgil’s name is on it but the writing didn’t match earlier works. Not sure whats off but maybe chatgpt a romance harlequin template on top of a sci fi book?
Touchy feely perhaps appealing to women readers.
Too slow and couldn’t engage.
Apparently didn’t do too well and that’s understandable based on his earlier books
I did not know what to expect from this second Maid For You. But I really liked it! Very riveting and a twisted plot. This book was a enjoyable trip into two deep characters. The erotic scenes were very well crafted. Two thumbs up! Hoping for a third.
This is a wonderful fantasy of love and the trials it brings. It will tickle all your emotions, even the erotic ones. I really enjoyed this novel and look forward to the next one.
It just keeps getting better. I wasn’t sure that they can get it any better than the first book but they have. I’m really can’t wait to book 3. Keep it coming guys.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. I sincerely hope that the rest of you out there enjoy it as much as I did. In the end family whether blood or chosen is all we have.
