I’ve never been someone’s fake girlfriend before. It was easy... at first. But then I put my foot in my mouth and turned this charade into a week-long affair. Which means going on the family honeymoon… to Jamaica.
Making matters worse, I kind of have a history with Theo, the best man. As in, we totally hooked up right before all of this. Avoiding his knowing smiles all week isn’t going to be easy.
Complicating matters is Austin, the bride’s ex. He found out I’m faking my relationship with Landon. Now he’s blackmailing If I don’t torpedo the wedding, he’s going to tell everyone the truth.
Juggling the demands of these three men is putting a serious damper on the honeymoon. Especially as everything begins to unravel. Can I keep it all together and survive this fake relationship? Or will it blow up in all of our faces?
PRETEND GIRLFRIEND is an extra spicy reverse harem romance. There’s no cheating, no cliffhangers—and a guaranteed HEA!

The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️ Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍 Character development: ☺️😊😁😉🥰
The heroine:Joanna - she is a paralegal, though she passed the bar exam. She currently works for an ambulance chaser and has been trying to get a job at DefTec (Defense Technologies) for a while now and they turned her down for the three jobs she has applied for. When her brother comes to her asking her for a favor, she immediately turns him down. He wants her to go to a family dinner with his friend Landon as his fake girlfriend. Though when her brother tells her that Landon is the in-house counsel for DefTec, she agrees.
The Heroes: Landon - his family likes to fix him up, since he recently got out of a long-standing relationship. When his brother Bradyn’s wedding is on horizon, he decides to preemptively prepare by bringing a fake girlfriend to a family dinner so he can get away with going to the wedding solo. Theo - he meets Joanna through a dating app, and he is much more muscular and handsome than the picture he posts on the site (the opposite of most guys). He also downplays his profession and has a terrific sense of humor. He also happens to be the best man at the family wedding Landon is attending. Austin - he is best friends with the bride, though he would have liked to have been more than friends with her. He is extremely handsome, has a Texas drawl and plays the guitar. He had plans to ruin the wedding because he didn’t want to see his friend Marissa married to a guy like Bradyn.
The story: This story was smart and funny from the get-go. I really liked Joanna’s sense of humor, and her personality was great. While on the “fake date” with Landon, her one job was to do anything she had to, in order to get his mother to like her so that the mother wouldn’t set him up with a co-worker for the wedding. So, when the mother wanted Joanna to be Landon’s plus one to the wedding, she readily agreed. I thought that was so funny. I also loved the fact that Joanna and Landon had no chemistry all night, they sort of disliked each other until they kissed and then it was explosive.
I have read quite a few of Cassie Cole’s reverse harem romances and I like the way she tells a story. She always has more to the story than just the romance. Her books are steamy, but also have fun storylines. This one was no different. The convoluted relationships Joanna had with her three men were quite fun to read about, and I really liked each of the guys in their own way. There was a lot of humor in this book as well. I was laughing out loud every few minutes.
Even knowing how much I have liked Cassie Cole books in the past, this one still came as a surprise to me. It was exceptionally good and though it was light and funny, it was pure enjoyment. The intimate scenes were so steamy, and I really loved how the main characters got to know each other and each of the guys had a different kind of bond with Joanna.
This why choose starts with the choice being easy. From Joanna Pullen's initial interactions with each of the men we get:
✔️... well, maybe - Theo "Teddy" Manafort, DDS - golden retriever vibes with a very talented tongue; ❌️ - Landon Cozart - grade-A jerk to Joanna; everyone else has sainted him; ❌️ - Austin Hedges - sleaze ball extraordinaire who wants the bride to really see him again.
I absolutely completely LOVE the banter between Theo and Joanna. It's hilarious and has me totally rooting for him to be the lead. Of course, this is a reverse harem, so I don't need to worry about that part. But if it wasn't, you know where my vote goes. 😉
“Here’s a secret, Joanna. There never was a spending limit. I was going to order every item off the menu, and eat half of them off your body.” -- Theo Manafort
As for Austin and Landon, they have to work hard to earn their spots. And work they do. Saving her from a predator, carrying and caring her after an injury, directing some bedroom activities (that scene is... WOW! 🥵), fantasy fulfillment, laughing when made the butt of a practical joke, and more earn them credit.
This steamy dramedy is so much fun. Between the overbearing mother that I can't help but respect to the three guys, this girl, and all their antics, I so enjoyed this!
Pretend girlfriend was a great read. It had humour, great story line and the spice 👌.
Joanna has wit throughout the book and I loved how she could think on her feet with each situation that was thrown her way. She is confident in herself and didn't back down.
She meets Theo on a dating app and decide to meet up again when he comes back into town. While on her date her brother asks her to help a friend out to keep his mum from setting him up with people she works with. Joanna agrees what's one date pretending she's a girlfriend.
Well 1 date turns in to several events/blackmail and she ends up on the honeymoon with the entire bridal party, which includes Theo!!
The storyline was good, building the relationships with the 3 men now in her life. I felt that they were just beginning to find themselves and their relationship and at the end of the book it could of lead on to another book.

I loved the drama. If this happened in real life, it would be highly entertaining. I even chuckled a few times, and all of the MMCs were very likeable. The mother-in-law was one of my favourite characters. I would have preferred a more drawn-out ending. It seemed a bit rushed towards the end. Still, it was a great standalone.
I enjoyed this story a lot. It’s made me laugh, smile, chuckle and roll my eyes so much. The only reason I’ve given it four stars is because 75% of this book is build up. So the last 25% feels like you’ve suddenly found the accelerator instead of coasting on cruise control.
The characters are really great… especially Theo/Teddy. I immediately warmed to him because he’s sweet, considerate, kind and caring. Perfect boyfriend material. And I suppose if the calamitous fake relationship agreement hadn’t come about, Theo and Joanna probably would have been together anyway… they are fantastic together… but then Joanna finds herself in a position that should have been a simple fake girlfriend scenario… one night, play the game, live the lie and then go their separate ways.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately)… one pre-wedding dinner turns into a rehearsal dinner, to wedding guest, to wedding party, to honeymoon gatecrasher. Clearly, one thing Joanne cannot do is say ‘no’. But then where’s the fun in that.
The story ends up being complication after complication and well, let’s just say, someone in the life planning department upstairs was having a good old giggle as Joanna’s love life spirals. And who can blame her. All three men that she discovers she has feelings for are certainly worthy of an adventure into polyamory. Theo continues to be the adorable sweetheart. Landon (the grooms brother and fake boyfriend) is broodingly beautiful and definitely changes when the pressure is off. Then there’s the slightly arrogant yet charming Texan brides-best-friend Austin who goes from scheming jilted ex-boyfriend to slightly creepy voyeur with a darkly dirty side. I mean, any one of them would be more than enough… but Joanna doesn’t need to decide. Not when all three men are happy to share.
Like I say, it’s a great read. And when everything comes out at the end, you do feel a lot of relief that Joanna isn’t going to be made to choose. The downside is that I wanted more of them all together because I love the RH dynamic. But overall, it’s a good read that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. And I shall be reading more by this author.
This book just landed a place in my top ten reads this year and given that I’m nearing my target of 700 books for this year should tell you just how fierce the competition is.
It’s outrageously funny, in a family friendly kind of way and the icing on the cake is some of the hottest sexy scenes around, without it being “in your face” about it.
Joanna is a paralegal at an ambulance chasing law firm. She hates it as much as she hates all the inappropriate chat up lines from her boss and other colleagues. The dating scene is like a shark pool at feeding time, that’s ok though she has a system. With a date set up already she’s ready to forget work for an evening, until she’s suddenly approached by her brother asking for a favour. One of his friends needs a fake girlfriend for a couple of hours, no big deal. Her brother is so confident that the wheels are already in motion. Potential fake boyfriend has her number.
She’s furious with her brother and the potential fake boyfriend, she’s a big girl she can handler her own dates. Right up until the fake boyfriend calls her and tells her where he works….only the place she thinks of as her dream job. No kidding, it’s not chasing ambulances so anything is better right?
Well maybe, she hasn’t met fake boyfriend’s family yet, that date? Yeah it’s a wedding rehearsal dinner.
If you like RH or fake boyfriend genres this is an absolute must read. I honestly don’t want to spoil it by saying more. Going to any wedding can be stressful, going to your fake boyfriend’s huge family wedding…ouch.
Damn it Cassie Cole!!!! We were so close to a 5 ⭐️ review! Grrrrrr This is the first book of hers that I really thought I was going to Love completely and give five stars to. Yet, unfortunately, she went ahead and fucked it all up so that didn’t happen. This book had everything or so I thought. It made me laugh out loud, it had great secondary characters , the story was very inventive and fresh, I like the leading lady, and I even liked the potential harem lovers.
So like I said, I really thought it could go to five stars.
But then Cassie did what she always does to ruin it, and I had hoped that she had graduated from that, but no.
She will string and string you along when it comes to the harem and relationships until like the last chapter and then cram everything you were yearning for throughout the book into a very long epilogue.
The leading lady only had sex with one of her three guys for up until like 65% of the book. And that was only one time by the way.
And then we had to wait till the absolute end of the book for her to have a single moment with the other two guys.
And that’s all we got when it came to the relationship in the book. Until the epilogue where everything that we were wanting throughout the book got crammed into it.
So fucking annoying!!
If she could’ve just given us more of their relationship and more of their sex throughout the book, and then an epilogue that skipped maybe a year or a couple of years. This book would’ve been a five star.
Defense Technologies or DefTec for short, is a huge defense contractor in Chicago. Joanna Pullen has been applying for jobs there but keeps being turned down. She is a lawyer and currently works for what she calls a firm of ambulance chasers.
Landon Cozart is a friend of Joanna’s younger brother Jack. Landon happens to the in-house council for DefTec. Landon and his girlfriend broke up about two months ago and he needs a pretend girlfriend for a family dinner. His brother is getting married next week, and Landon is afraid that his mother is going to throw every eligible woman at him. If Joanna agrees to go as his date, he will make sure her resume goes to the top of the pile at DefTec.
The same night Jack asks Joanna to go on the date with Landon, she has an actual date. His name is Theo and his is hotter than his picture on Bumble. They have a couple of drinks and ask each other the getting to know you questions. The only major difference of opinion they have is regarding having kids. He wants kids in the future, but Joanna is pretty sure she does not. However, there is definitely chemistry between them. Theo tells Joanna that he works at a dental office a few blocks from the restaurant. Joanna tells Theo how she is a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan. They end up going to a hotel nearby for some fun. Just as things are getting hot and heavy between them, Theo’s phone rings. There’s a dental emergency so he takes Joanna with him, so she knows he isn’t lying. Turns out Theo is Doctor Manafort, a dentist on retainer for the Blackhawks. The emergency is for Connor Bedard, the center for the Blackhawks. They agree to go on another date when Theo gets back in town in two weeks.
Joanna goes to the family dinner with Landon and ends up roped into attending the rehearsal dinner and wedding since she is Landon’s “girlfriend”. Landon is not happy that they have to continue pretending to be dating. His mother forces them to kiss goodbye after the dinner and both of them feel sparks. That is just the start of the charade.
What a mess. I loved the unexpected twists and turns this story took. Joanna being tangled up with Theo, Landon and the bride’s best friend, Austin, kept her busy.

Entertaining. This was a great story that I couldn't put down I was hooked from the start. Thanks to her brother she agreed to be his friend Landon's fake girlfriend to keep his mother from setting him up, however she was having her first date with Theo who'd she'd met on a dating app. Theo was hotter in real life their date was great & they went to a hotel giving in to the hot sexual chemistry unfortunately it was interrupted by a work emergency not wanting the date to end he took her with him she found out exactly what his job was. They were both busy with other work & arrangements so set to meet in a few weeks, however their meet came sooner & shocked them both. Explaining the reason for their unexpected meeting led to another secret which led to more secrets, lies & a new player in the secrets Austin. This was funny watching the secrets tangle trying to keep from who knows what, then real feelings came along then steam overload until the secrets & lies came to an explosive reveal & it seemed that she wasn't as good as a lier as she thought. I was desperate for the 4 of them to be together as all 3 guys were different in their own ways & she wouldn't have been able to live without all 3 of them.
Once you start reading this you won't want to put it down.

First thing I have to say is that I didn’t like Joanna in the beginning. Just putting it out there! As time went on, I developed a friendship with her. Shes meets Theo online and they meet at the bar. He’s funny and flirty. They end the night agreeing to go to a hotel but their evening is cut short when Theo has a work emergency. The same night she meets Theo, her brother asks her to help his friend Landon out by being a plus one to a wedding dinner. In exchange for pretending to be Landon’s girlfriend, Landon will put in a good word for a job she wants. At one of the events, she runs into Theo and finds out he’s best friends with the groom. The plus-one turns into Joanna being included in all of wedding festivities including a week long “honeymoon” trip with the entire family where she has to keep up the fake relationship, and keep her hands off of Theo. Add in Austin, who’s best friends with the bride, and thinks he’s in love with her. Austin isn’t there to be supportive. Joanna finds herself caught in the middle, and falling for all three of the guys. What will Joanna lose if the truths about her relationships are revealed? This book was the right combination of spicy and literal laugh out loud!
This was an absolutely hilarious and fantastic story. Joanna has plans for a date she has been talking to on a dating app and her brother asked her to be a fake girlfriend for his friend. The night she meets Theo, everything is going great until after they spend some time in a motel room and he has to go to his office to deal with a medical emergency. The next day, she is going to be a fake girlfriend for Landon, they have come to an arrangement that for her to be a fake girlfriend he used to get her a job with his employer, the situation gets tricky when his mother invites her to the wedding, and then she becomes one of the bridesmaids and then ends up on the honeymoon with the rest of the family, she discovers that Theo is the best man, she has to pretend she doesn’t know him. The brides best friend, who is Austin, discovers that Joanna is in a relationship with Theo, and so uses that to his advantage in trying to break up the marriage. The old saying buy Shakespeare, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive, this certainly is the case in this story. It was absolutely hilarious and lots of sexy times and a great ending to a fantastic story.

Landon needs a date for his little sister’s dinner before her wedding. To get his mom off his back, he asks his buddy Jack to help him. Jack calls his sister, Joanna, to pretend to be his buddy’s girlfriend and he will put in a good word for a job at his security company, she has been rejected from already during the application process. This was suppose to be one dinner for Landon to get his family off his back. Joanna was a paralegal at a firm she hated because she was constantly getting sexually harassed all the time. She had her eye on a security company and with her brother calling her for a favor she decides this is her chance to get the job she wanted. But there was a problem she had a date with a dating app match. Joanna finds herself in unfamiliar territory, her dating app guy is super hot and has a secret life. The favor she is fulfilling to get a job has just turned complicated. This is a page turner, steamy scenes, spicy group, DP, back door play, one on one, but the family dilemma is the funniest part. We have a very hands on mother of the groom and is a manipulator. Getting ready to lose yourself in this book, of a woman who found herself in a real life fantasy in paradise. Hot, hot book Miss Cassie Cole.
My normal book review starts by giving a short synapsis of the plot with an introduction to each character. As I began writing this review, I realized that there's no way I could do that without containing a spoiler. This book is too dang fun to ruin for the next reader by giving away any spoilers. Just know this: if you're looking for a book with a gorgeous, spunky female and incredibly hot male leads, this is your book. Wanting some laugh out loud moments and crazy antics? This book will entertain you better than a show on Netflix. Adrenaline junky readers looking for a roller coaster ride of a plot with more twists, turns and valleys to cause whiplash? This book will keep your adrenaline spiked. Looking for filthy hot s*xual chemistry and s*xy romps from start to finish? Oh yeah, this is one "explosive" read! There was nothing, and I mean NOTHING, about this book I didn't love. It was the perfect read for hot and sultry summer days and nights. In fact, I just added this book to my "to be read again... and again" list. Read this book. Read it. Right. Now!.
I love the way Cassie Cole brings her characters together. First Theo on a blind date where Joanna clicks with him immediately. You can see the wheels spinning and the sparks flying after the first few questions. When she finds out his true profession, she's flabbergasted.
The pretend girlfriend part is Landon. A guy who wants to impress his mother and doesn't want her to meddle in his love life any longer. You can tell this relationship was set up by all parties involved. And I loved the turns each part of their fake relationship took.
Then there is Austin. The guy who was in love with the Bride, but fell for Joanna instead. When Theo and Austin propose a threesome with her, her head is spinning.
I could read this story over and over again. It was fun, steamy, witty, and did I say steamy? Yeah. Tons of steam to get you through the night!.
Loved this one. Joanna meets Theo on a blind date. He’s great, but also going out of town so they decide to meet back up once he gets back. In the meantime, her brother begs her to help out a friend of his by pretending to be his fake date and a dinner with his parents. His mom is super involved and won’t get off his back about dating.
She meets Landon who is pretty crabby, but she pulls off tricking his family. She does such a good job that she ends up invited to his brother’s wedding in Jamaica.
At the rehearsal dinner, the best man is late and when he finally makes an appearance, it throws her for a giant loop.
Loved the characters and the storyline. It was hilarious watching them try to navigate their fake relationship and all the obstacles that popped up during the wedding and honeymoon.
Joanna is unhappy in her current job and has been trying to get a position at DefTec. After a blind date with Theo, Joanna's brother asks her to pretend to be his friends girlfriend for a family event. In exchange, Joanna negotiates with Landon that if she pretends to date him, he will help her get a job at DefTec, since he works there and has some pull. One date turns into several when Joanna wow's the family and they invite her not only to the wedding, but on the family honeymoon. Things take a turn when Theo shows up. Now Joanna is trying to keep up the charade, plus figure out her feelings not only for Theo, but the growing feelings for Landon. This was a fun read with many funny moments. Especially when the secrets start coming out!
I enjoyed Joanna’s story. She’s never been someone’s fake girlfriend before. It was easy... at first. But then puts her foot in her mouth and turned this charade into a week-long affair. Which means going on the family honeymoon… to Jamaica. She has a bit of a history with Theo, the best man. As in, they hooked up right before all of this. Avoiding his knowing smiles all week isn’t going to be easy. Complicating matters is Austin, the bride’s ex. He found out I’m faking my relationship with Landon. And is now blackmailing her: If she doesn’t torpedo the wedding, he’s going to tell everyone the truth. Can she keep it together and survive this fake relationship? Or will it blow up in all of our faces? It was a fun, entertaining read. And am voluntarily leaving this review.
This was such a great book. Totally not what I was expecting so a really nice surprise.
It was at a friend's wedding that poor Joanna getting into trouble with three guys, Landon, Austin and Theo. Fake dating one, another an ex and blackmailed by another.
So much happening in this book and three different guys that all have a place in the story. Joanna had an interesting dynamic with each of them.
Very well written, and a read that kept me going to the very end. Couldn't wait to see how she worked it all out. Great book!!.

This was such a fun and hot read. This author does a great job sucking me in with her characters, plot, drama and steam, and this story is no different. We take a hook up, a fake date and a blackmailer and let the drama spin. With family nosing into their business, Joanna, Landon, Theo and Austin have a lot to balance...and to keep straight ;) When their complicated situation gets exposed, they quickly devise a plan to sort out the family, only to find that they all have genuine feelings. I really enjoyed how this story unfolded and, while I got an advanced copy, I had to buy one so it can be on my re-read shelf ;D
This was an enjoyable story about Joanna and her three men: Theo, Landon, and Austin hat I'd loved reading. The characters were personal and interesting, and the story was engaging. Another wonderful story by Cassie Cole I'd devoured. Joanna is waiting for her date that night to show up when she gets asked by her brother Jack to pretend to be Landon's girlfriend for the night. Landon works for DefTec a place that Joanna trying to get a job at. Joanna agrees and meets Landon for the date. What occurs as she meets each of the men and then goes on a trip to Jamaica to a wedding was an enjoyable story I'd received a copy and volunteer to read and review.
Cassie is the queen of RH and does it again! This was a fun good read doing a favor for your bother to become a pretend girlfriend. By doing this Joanna has finagled her way to getting her dream job. But pretending has turned into more than she excepted and now is attending the wedding, in the wedding and joining the family honeymoon. And to top it off she had a date with one guy, pretending to be with the other and getting caught about her deception by another. Could this get any more complicated? Great character building, steam and always a HEA!.

Joanna gets talked into being Landon's fake girlfriend in exchange for a job recommendation. She also meets Theo at the same time through a dating app and they hit it off. When she gets talked into attending the rehearsal dinner, then the wedding and then the family vacation / honeymoon things start to go off the rails. When Austin, a friend of the bride, blackmails her into helping him out things get really complicated. This is a LOL rom-com of a book, plenty of steam and lots of shenanigan's that keep this book very entertaining.

In this book we meet Joanna, Landon, Theo, & Austin. Joanna goes out on a date with Theo and can't wait to see him again. He has to be out of town for the next week so Joanna agrees to do a favor for her brother's boss. The thing is the man she wants her to help is the same man whose company she wants to work for. Little did she know it would all blow up in her face when being a pretend girlfriend his mother ropes her into even more. Can they all find a HEA or will this blow up in all their faces?
Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I meet this hot DOCTOR, who made me scream in pleasure, only for him to leave for an emergency. Meanwhile I agree to pretend to be my brothers friends girlfriend for a family engagement dinner. His family won’t bug him about being single and he’ll put in a good word at his job for a position I want. I’m winning over the family playing the good girlfriend, as requested. Then the late to the dinner Best Man finally shows. Oh no…… it’s the hot doctor who made me scream. We look at each other as I’m introduced as the other guys girlfriend. Then there’s the hot guy with the sexy Texas accent…
I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary review.
This story amused me in the many different situations that Joanna put herself in. I liked the way she and Theo fit and the progressive romance building between her and Landon. I loved the fact that Austin seemed to be the level-headed one who got Joanna to do what she needed to do to get out of a job she hated. Landon’s mother was the do all and see all of the story. This story had great vibes and great interaction between the main characters.
★”Pretend to be Landon’s girlfriend for a night. Two hours tops.”★
If only things HAD worked out like that…Granting her brother a favor suddenly snowballs into a situation of epic proportions, something Joanna never could have imagined…especially when she had no chance of revealing her deception in hopes of landing THE dream job promised to her in return. Does it matter if they score big on her foolproof point system? But is seems that the other players in this ruse have secrets of their own…Entertaining read!
Things started off great, a little slow, but still great. I enjoyed getting to see Theo and Joanna's relationship develop, but I felt like Landon and Austin got the short end of the stick. Things with Austin seemed artificial, and everything with Landon was faked. There was no time to grow either of those relationships. I only read books that have a HEA, and the description definitely said there was a HEA, but unfortunately, this book ended with an HFN. The end was extremely rushed and left ne wanting more.
I think Landon's mother needs to working at the Pentagon as a strategist, she was so manipulating, lol! Seriously, the book had great character quirks. I liked the fact that Austin realized that Marisa was meant for Landon's brother. Landon's character needed to be explored. I wish the author had expounded more of what happened after they chose to be together. I did read the bonus chapter. It answered some of my questions. I did love the book. It is well worth reading again.
This book was an absolute hoot to read. I laughed out loud so many times that my family must think I've lost it by now. There were also so many sexy scenes in this story. There was also so many falsehoods flying around that keeping them all straight seemed impossible and when it all broke, holy cow did it really break. But in the end all works out and everyone gets a happy ending (some more than once).
