The best things in life come in threesIn a small island town where single women are rarer than a unicorn sighting, I've always been the odd woman out. As the town's go-to grease monkey, I’m more "bro" than "babe", which is great for finding friends and not-so-useful in my search for love.
In an effort to draw women to our small town, our matchmaker mayor decides to play Cupid with a singles weekend—only I'm left playing wallflower rather than bell of the ball.
That is until Aiden and Finn, the smokin' hot pub owners I've been crushing on, admit they don’t see me as the town’s perpetual little sister….
"Kink in the Road" is a steamy, romantic romp that'll have you believing in the power of love, laughter, and a well-oiled…machine. Afterall, the best things in life come in threes!

Kink island with a tiny population, where the ratio of men outweighs women, and polyamorous relationships are encouraged. Honestly, I didn't know whether to roll my eyes or just suspend belief to enjoy this novella for what it was. A modern day dream!
I’m never anyone’s choice. And I want to be.
When the mayor of the island plays matchmaker to encourage females from the mainland to come to Kink Island to find a man or a couple over the weekend, Riley can't help but feel disappointed by being overlooked once again. Riley seems to be everyone's little sister and nobody's lover. And it grates.
Look, Kink in the Road was cute and kind of too sweet. She's the local mechanic and Finn and Aiden own the town pub. And now that they realize that Riley has opened her eyes to the possibility of them, they're going to take their chance. The ending writes itself.
I’ve never read an Evie Mitchell book but a throuple with a MMF couple. With a sword cross and the two of them kissing 😽!!! Oh my, my, my goodness!! This was funny, sweet and so intensely sexy. I am so grateful I read this book in the car during my breaks because this was too smoking to read at home. Also, also the men cook, listen and they have big 🍆!! And she is a mechanic 👩🔧!! What a freaking awesome book 📖 !

This was the first book I read by this author, but I do have several of her books on my TBR some of which I own in eBook format. This is the first book in a new series, and it was a short quick read coming in at less than 100 pages. This was a fun quick read with some steam and cuteness thrown in. My biggest complaint is that it desperately needed another round or two of editing. I don't expect a book to be without some flaws but when the mistakes are happening so often and taking you out of the story and therefore messing with your enjoyment of the book, I have to mention it. Overall, I thought this was an ok book. While it wasn't a favorite, I will give this author another go.
An utterly delightful first book in the Men of Trinity Bay series, and just what I needed to read. It's low-angst, steamy fun in a small town on an island. Riley, Finn and Aiden were great characters. Things move quickly because it's a novella, but there's a history of friendship that makes it feel less like instalust and more like 'finally.' I can never go wrong with an Evie Mitchell book.
I love Evie Mitchell novella. Always short, sweet, and spicy! And the whole concept of Kink Island really does it for me. I love Finn, Aiden, and Riley 🥹
I absolutely loved this! It's super steamy and sweet. Riley, Finn and Aiden are so great together. And I adore the beautiful artwork featured throughout the book. Highly recommend!
A fun quick read. Lots of typos but we got through. Takes place on an island with its own culture that definitely has fantasy elements related to men in general (being safe and revering women) and society expectations (embracing triads and relationships of all kinds). No complaints about that, though. I’d move there tomorrow. Just a little flat to me because of the shorter length, and don’t think the characters will stick with me.
I guess I prefer those of Evie’s books with more emotionality to them over low-angst storylines. This felt very lukewarm and had some technical issues like spelling and not keeping up with where the characters were physically in specific scenes. Didn’t actively hate it but it was a struggle to get through.
The writing was pretty good. This author did a good job w/r/t the worldbuilding. I found the MCs v. likable. Despite being a tomboy, Riley didn't come across as a female character who does "I'm not like one of THOSE girly girls" that irritates me to no end. Kudos to the author for that. Also, all of the characters (including secondary and/or background ones) had distinct personalities.
As for the intimate scenes, there were mostly fun. One cute (?) detail is that there are drawings throughout the novella--which include some of the steamier moments. That was pretty cool!
What I didn't like
Unfortunately, my yays abt the intimate scenes were snuffed by the really bad dirty talk. Not only it was incredibly repetitive (with the male MCs using variations of good/bad/naughty/dirty/pretty girl BUT also calling her cunt "tight" every chance they got), but it was weak.
OTOH, I was happy that there wasn't a misunderstanding that'd lead to a 3rd act break-up (perhaps because of the space constraints. This novella is less than 100 pages long.)
OTOH, however, the author felt it necessary to insert some kind of conflict and so, Riley spends the morning after (she's been intimate with Finn and Aiden) angsting over sheer nonsense. She's worried abt two specific things:
1. How will the throuple work in order to make it last long-term? 2. What will ppl in town will think abt the throuple?
The first reason why I 🙄 is cuz that, back in the first third of the story, it's established that the town has legalized polygamy since who knows when. This is due to the male-to-female ratio on the island (50 men for every 1 woman). Riley has (aside from the 4-5 yrs she was away at university) grown up watching couples, throuples, and more types of polycules. Sexual orientation doesn't seem to be too much of an issue either?
So, seriously, WHY is she worrying abt something that is part of her immediate society? I found her worries to be silly and unnecessary.
Then, there's the fact that Riley's OMG HOW ARE WE GOING TO BE A COMMITTED THROUPLE freakout occurs the morning after the first time all three characters have been intimate. I wanted to tell Riley to take a deep breath, exhale, and slow down. Watching her run in circles abt the throuple's future financial and living arrangements felt like A LOT OF NOTHING.
Doubly so when, in the epilogue (which has a timejump into the future), Riley is not only getting married to Finn and Aiden but also 5 months pregnant. So...there's that. (As someone who doesn't like the "married and pregnant at the end" thing, I did a heavy sigh, hahah.)
Oh, and there was a sprinkle of magical realism for no reason at all? IDEK.
Trigger/Content warnings: An inebriated background character is sexually aggressive with Riley. He kisses her against her will. Aiden and Finn step in and kick the guy out of their pub. There's a brief discussion between Riley and her father abt her mother's passing and the grief that followed. One of the male MCs mentions that his family disapproves of his relationship with the other male MC and so he is now estranged from them. The MC is okay with that.
TL;DR: An M/M/F novella that started really fun only to turn lackluster once the throuple got together. Although I didn't dislike it enough to put me off the other 2 novellas by the same author, I've now adjusted my expectations of those other works. Hopefully, the conflict/angst/drama will be more believable.
I borrowed this from my library.

Because it’s such a short book, the plot and everything moves very quickly. Which does me we don’t be a whole lot of character development but it’s a fun, rom com, smutty read. I had pictures in mine which was a bonus to me!
Riley had grown up in Kink (because of course that’s what it’s called) and has been known to all the men as the girl next door. Aiden and Finn, sort of outsiders to the place, are her crushes. They can’t possibly be into her…can they?
Of course, the stats for this place are 50 men to 1 woman so polyamory is legal here, and triads can be married. I liked the kink, the smut, but again, it’s so short, there’s not much there for plot or character development.
This book needed SO MUCH editing 😭 the errors were so bad and so present that it constantly took me out of the story and made it hard to understand what was being said. Also, I wish more was done with the island's culture, especially the spirits/fae. The plot was rushed as well and went way too fast. I did really like the illustrations sprinkled throughout and the positive representation of polyamorous relationships though
LOVES: - There is so SFW and NSFW art throughout, which is something different and fun! - Awesome that throuple marriages are common and legal on this island - I appreciate the practicality of Riley’s worries and the fact that they all talk about those things openly - The conversation about love with Riley and her dad 🥹 - It was nice to hear the story of how Aiden and Finn got together ♥️
This wasn’t too bad. Very short and a very minimal plot. The only things that confused me a little was where the location was, as well as the history of this island.
Otherwise it was an enjoyable read. Characters were nice, simple and straight to the point.
The smut was similar but not too incredibly in depth. Not bad overall.
Very short novella that occurs on an Island called Kink that allows polygamous marriages. I enjoyed the characters and their love for each other. The book includes illustrations, disability rep, poly rep, and pregnancy.
Short and spicy. MC was a little whiny. She bugged me some. Um there are PICTURES in this. So maybe don’t read at work like I did. This was fine. Not life changing but I enjoyed it and will continue reading this author.
This was absolutely adorable, spicy and perfectly balanced! I've been devouring Evie Mitchell's books since I found her as an author and she also is an incredibly kind person! What a brilliant spicy small town romance!
I absolutely loved Kink in the Road. The town, the mayor, and the triple romance. Love is love, it's that simple. If people are happy let them be happy. We need more love in this world. Great quick read. Ohhh... plenty of sex too.
The author did it again:a short tale of falling in love, finding acceptance for yourself and some good sex during all of it. I love these stories. Short reads with a lot of pleasure.
What a fun read! I loved the three main characters and the storyline. This is the first Evie Mitchell book I've read, but it won't be the last. I like her style.
This short audiobook book is hot and satisfying. It's my first Evie Mitchell book but it certainly won't be my last. Beautifully narrated by Kit Swann.
Kinky in the Road was a run, quick listen. I liked the little home town vibes mixed with a throuple. Riley, Finn and Aiden made for a fun and sexy listen. I haven't read any Evie Mitchell in a while and I forgot how much I love the fun of these reads.
