Leonidas de Wolfe is the son of a diplomat… but every inch the grandson of William de Wolfe.
Beware of the wolfe BITE in the ultimate enemies-to-lovers romantic tale!
As the son of Edward de Wolfe, Henry III and Edward I’s greatest diplomat, Leonidas has been in the heart of England’s politics since the beginning of his career. An elite knight, Blackchurch trained and Kenilworth-educated, he is the pinnacle of the de Wolfe stable of knights, sons and grandsons and great-grandsons of the greatest knight of his generation, William de Wolfe.
But what Leonidas is about to face will put that education and training to the test.
He has to keep a young French princess alive long enough to marry the next king of England.
The future queen comes with a nurse and governess in the fair Christelle de Lorrain, but the truth is that Christelle is a trained spy and bodyguard sent to protect the young royal. Leonidas may be tasked with guarding the queen, but Christelle has been tasked with the same thing – and what she says goes. It isn’t long before the battle of the wills begins.
So does the attraction.
Leonidas isn’t thrilled with the young princess’s nurse. The woman seems to have more involvement than a nurse should have, but she’s brilliant at pretending to be submissive when she’s really doing exactly what she wants to do. Leonidas is used to men obeying his commands without question, but the fair-haired Frenchwoman clearly never got that memo. Leonidas is so busy being irritated with her that he doesn’t even realize when he’s fallen in love with her.
That brings an entirely new set of problems.
Christelle, however, is a little harder to come around. She finds Leonidas quite handsome and virile, but she has no intention of falling for an English warlord. Her life has been carefully planned out by her de Lorrain family, one of the ruling families of France, and that life does not include a de Wolfe.
… does it?
Join Leonidas and Christelle in an enemies-to-sort of lovers trope that takes them from the dangers of Edward III’s early reign to the halls of Woodstock Palace where the young king and his young queen finally take their vows. Will their marriage finally separate the great Le Morsure and the French bodyguard known as the la protecteur de la reine?
It’s another exciting de Wolfe Pack Generations adventure!

Always with this series I love the story and the characters. I found the story to be so real. I was energizing. The entertainment was at an all time high throughout the book. I mean I don’t believe that there was a low point at all. The plot twist was simply amazing. It only made the ending better. I do wish the Catherine’s age would not have been addressed as the same with Talans. The love seen in the barn should have been listed as a trigger warning. I also believe that if the writer chooses to use younger characters, don’t address their age or gloss over their age or give a guesstimate age. Leave it up to the reader to come to an age guess. Other than that, the book was good. Read on!
This book is set very closely in the court of Edward III and his wife, Phillipa. It's well worth reading for the historical context alone. In addition to the plots against the royals, we have both a major and a minor love story building between the fictional characters. Leonidas de Wolfe is charged with protecting the queen, so he takes her to Ashendon, his castle in the north, along with her personal bodyguard, Christelle, a Blackchurch-trained young woman who is more than a match for any warrior. Also at Ashendon is Leo's nearly-grown stepdaughter, Catie, and Leo's cousin, Talan, who have been getting very close during Leo's absence.
I adore all the action and world-building. This author is amazing at researching and building on recorded history, bringing the tales of old alive with vibrant characters and compelling settings. This story's mix of fact and fiction is exquisitely blended into an amazing adventure that showcases all the romance and pageantry of the 14th century.
For the first time, however, I found myself not liking this author's male lead characters. Talan, though younger than Leo, is still old enough to know the consequences of his dalliance with Catie, and the way he responded so callously to her insistence on making things right was nearly villainous. Sure he eventually comes to his senses and they get their HEA, but the burden of groveling and capitulating was wrongly put on Catie, who had no reason not to expect everything that Talan had promised her.
Leo takes a similar approach to his romance with Christelle, falling short of his promises once he learns her secret. His faithlessness makes one wonder just how he would have handled the truth if it had come after they'd married - would he have so easily abandoned his vows? He does get the better grovel/repentance scene, but only after outside circumstances removed all his doubts about her. His lack of faith in her does not bode well for their HEA.
While I was disappointed in the romances, the rest of the story stands as strong as all the others in the KLV world, and for that reason alone I can recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
WolfeBite by Kathryn Le Veque is a romance featuring Leonidas de Wolfe, grandson of the great William. He finds himself in love with a woman who may not be appropriate, but lights a fire in him he’s never felt before. He had been married previously, an arranged marriage with a widow, but he had come to love her. She died giving birth to his child and he left their home to assist the young king in keeping his throne. Roger Mortimer is alleged to have fathered a child with the queen and wanted to rid himself of other heirs so his son could take the throne. The king and queen were teenagers and the king had really not come into his own yet. The queen had a guard sent with her from France. Christelle is her name and while she functions more is a companion she had attended Black Church and could hold her own with most knights. She was also a spy for her father and believed no one knew of her duel purpose. They separated the two and Leo brought the young queen to his home.
Leo fell hard. He had never felt this way before and it took him awhile to admit his feelings. He was not a man who used a lot of words. Christelle had fallen hard as well, had grown to love the queen, and had matured beyond being her father’s minion. Sadly she did not have the chance to share that change of heart before her deception was made known. This was a frantic love affair, with both parties out of the elements. Danger was everywhere and no one knew who to trust. Additionally Leo discovered he had left his children in the wrong hands and they had been abused and he had been stolen from. It was an exciting ride, protecting the queen, trying to protect his children, and honor his dead wife. As always, Le Veque has not let us down and this a a passionate and amazing story, as well as navigate a new love..
I was invited to read WolfeBite by Dragonblade. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #Netgalley #Dragonblade #KathrynLeVeque #WolfeBite
WolfeBite is the tenth book in the de Wolfe Pack Generations series. Each book is meant to be a stand-alone read. There are often crossovers, and characters that are seen in other books. There is a lot of history that is referred to keep the reader up to date when necessary.
This book is set in the court of Edward III and his wife, Phillipa. I love reading stories that are tied to the historical past with the plots against the royal family.
A plot that threatens Edward III and Phillipa motivates Leonidas de Wolfe to separate them in order to protect them Leo is charged with protecting the queen and takes her to Ashendon, his castle in the north, with her personal bodyguard, Christelle, a Blackchurch-trained young woman who is more than a match for any warrior. The sparks fly between Leo and Christelle from the beginning, but Leo is still in mourning after his wife died.
The story has a wonderful blend of fact and fiction woven into an adventure that gives the reader romance and pageantry of the 14th century. It is truly well written.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for an unbiased review.
As always with this author, the plot is fast-paced adventure, and romance set against a well-researched historical background. I loved the main characters, especially Leo and his fellow knights, but felt sad for Christelle in that all her womanly attributes had been squashed, leaving a young woman who did not know how to handle the secrets of her heart. Despite betrayal and the plots that abound, Leo and Christelle are kindred spirits, and perhaps she is missing part of Leo's heart, especially as she is equally able to take up her sword alongside him. I was so glad that their enemy finally received his just deserts. This exciting book is part of a series, but is a standalone and comes to a lovely conclusion. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
This is a story of adventure and romance, but no huge battle with several armies involved like many of Kathryn's stories. Leonidas de Wolfe is another of William de Wolfe's grandsons. He has been tasked with protecting the Queen, who also had a female protector/bodyguard, Christelle. Leo and Christelle take us on a fast paced adventure. There are misunderstandings and heartache along the way, as well as some betrayal and plots abound. Kathryn's great writing will draw us completely into the story. Christelle has been trained for one purpose by her father. She has never had an opportunity to be other than what she was trained to do, not even the usual female attributes or desires. I loved this story, and as always to read about many of the individuals Kathryn has written about over the years!
Ŵe are back with the descendents of our favourite family in the medieval romance.
Our hero this time has faced tragedy and will face more in this book. Tissues are needed for the unexpected loss.
Our brave and very fiesty heroine has a tendency to strike first and think later. That makes for a few giggles. Sorry, but I like it when a tiny woman can do so much damage.
We get some fighting but no huge battle, and we get an unusual romance.
How this author manages to take the same families in a similar timeline and write stories that are all so very different is what makes her so talented. I will always buy whatever she writes because I know i will enjoy it.
Secrets, Politics, Knights, Discovering Love: Protecting his future king and queen is his utmost priority and we follow the heroic blunt speaking knight Leonidas as he faces many challenges. One of those challenges is dealing with the unruly, disheveled haired unknown spy Christelle the nurse and companion to the queen. We follow their relationship and watch it slowly progress from angst to desirous attraction to a gripping intense love affair, that takes us into an emotional confrontation like no other. This is a wonderfully dynamic love story that is filled with love, friends, family dynamics and tragedy, cruelty, heartfelt courting, plus forgiveness.
I loved everything about this story. The writing is so detailed that I could picture, in my mind, what was happening. There are so many relevant characters, besides Leonidas and Christelle, who added greatly to the story. I also found individuals that have appeared in previous works and as usual, they added to this story. The de Wolfe family is one of my favorites. I am amazed with this author and her ability to keep up with all of the different players and their relationship to each other. It’s a great story that is worth reading. I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and are voluntarily leaving a review.
I have never read anything from this author that wasn't spectacular and this story isn't any different. Leonidas is the grandson of William de Wolf. If you don't have a guide to all the related parties, she provides one and if this is your first journey with this author, you have plenty of stories to thrill you! Christelle is a protector for the Queen, a lovely woman who has never ever been treated as a woman and was trained like one of the boys. The chemistry between the two is riveting. The detail in the story is fantastic with great attention to detail and research. Filled with everything imaginable and with fabulous additional characters. Don't miss this one ever!
Beware of the Wolfe bite, for it could be deadly. Both Leonidas and Christelle vowed to protect the young queen, and they would often find themselves at odds. Christelle had a dangerous secret. What happened when Leonidas discovered the truth about her mission?
This story is full of treachery, intrigue, and adventure. There are some moments of pain and sadness. Can love triumph in the end? For the answer, you will want to read this entertaining, Medieval romantic adventure.
I have read almost all of author Kathryn Le Veque's books and loved every one. Maybe because I'm a history buff, or maybe because my ancestors lived back in those times in Wales and England coming to this new land in the 1600's. They were the Anglo Saxons that almost got wiped out. I love that the author does the research and spins a great tale including so many families, although not our Eldred and Davis lot. Maybe too common, or in one case their castle was washed away. I look forward to more great reading,
Leonidas has met his match with Christelle! He thinks that she is the nurse to a young French princess, but she's actually a spy. They butt heads continually. One particularly funny scene was when she attacked him and his retinue and then sewed up his forehead with red thread.
There's notable children and pets (a chicken). Eventually these two loveable mcs realize that they can't live without each other. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC. Opinions are my own.
Another winner from Kathryn. Great characters all around and old friends from other books! Leo and Christelle were amazing together. I had to stop reading at a certain point to blow my nose because of all the crying I was doing. The epilogue was not my favorite. It seemed unfinished to me but it did fit the story. It could be just me not wanting the story to end because it was that awesome. I always recommend a Le Veque book.
She's a French spy assigned to guard Queen Phillipa. He's a Knight also assigned to guard the Queen. The decision is made to separate the Queen from her husband, King Edward, to keep them safe from their enemies. The Queen is sent to Leonides' castle and from there Kathryn Le Veque weaves a story of passion, lies, death and love that will keep you enthralled. Spoiler alert: get the tissues.
I got on a historic romance kick, so immediately signed up for an ARC of this. I was happy to find out there are more books related to this one, so they are in my TBR. I really loved this book, it was a nice quick read for me, and I enjoyed the romance. I definitely recommend if you enjoy this genre!
I have been in love with this family since Christopher and Dustin!!! You make these adventures seem very real. The excitement and intrigue is amazing. The characters are brave and courageous. Keep on writing about this family and the others who I have come to absolutely love!!! Thanks for another incredible adventure!!!
After so many adventures that I've taken with Katherine, you'd think she'd run out of great love stories. Wrong, this one may be in my top favorites! The good guy gets the girl, the evil villain gets his due, and the world is once again in harmony....until next time! Thank you Kathren Leverage for not disappointing me!!!
This was a real page turner! Leonidas de Wolf is part of the fight to remove Roger Mortimer as de facto head of England. This backdrop adds the thrills to Leonidas and Christelle’s story. There’s also moments which literally had me in tears! Well done, Ms. Le Veque!
I am in complete awe with this author, her stories are ones I always look forward to reading. Kathryn Le Veque never disappoints. Christelle and Leonidas' story is filled with danger, loss, loyalty, deception, hope and love. The characters are strong and fully developed, the story itself is full of intrigue and with the historical background, it's thoroughly worth the read.
This is a wonderfully dynamic and well written love story set closely in the court of King Edward III and Queen Phillipa. The plots, historical context, drama, action, espionage, intrigue, and so much more excitement kept me entertained. I enjoyed this passionate romance.i recommend reading!
Love reading another link in the descriptive Wolfe saga. I have to check the family lists to keep them all straight, but each new story shows the courage through the blood of William! Good read!
What a great read. As always KLV delivers !! It's always a joy to read a book by this author. KLV you put many authors to shame, your books are always a joy to read. Thank you.
Such a great story to read and good to see Tate, Kenneth and Stephen in it too, Toby as well. Love the dragon blade trilogy. I highly recommend all this authors books, best stories ever.
Another awesome book of knights serving Edward. A story of treachery, love, spy's and vengeance. All of this has been woven into a great story that will pull you right into their lives!
Another fantastic adventure by the amazing Queen of Medieval Romance, Kathryn LeVeque who always delivers an adventure that pulls you directly into a time long past with unforgettable characters and chaos. Don’t miss this one! ❤️
I loved this live story with Leo & Christie. I just the Wolf family. Its my favorite of all the series. Leo dedication to all his fami!y. It was so sad when Georgia drowned. I cannot wait for your next book. I love that theses families generations continue!
Loved it !!! It was exciting humorous and romantic. And as always Kathryn delivers great stories. I would recommend all De Wolfe pac series the original and the generations.
I loved this story of the unlikely love of Cristelle & Leonides. Lots of intrigue and interesting characters, and of course, there are Philippa & Edward - nothing like hanging out with a king & his queen. Very good story with great historical content.
