Dreadful news, Fearleading tryouts are upon us again—the time of year when every ghoul can be found practicing their tryout routines in the hallways. But the shouts of, “Go, Fright, Win!” have almost been drowned out by the sound of Cleo de Nile shaking in her Scaremes boots. Without her ghoul squad behind her, Cleo’s reign as queen bee is losing commoner support, and she needs a spot on the team to secure her dynasty for another scaremester. Every ghoul knows that the fearleaders run the school, and none know that better than our queen bee. Nothing will stop her from another year in the gore-geous uniform. But you know what they say... It’s lonely at the top of the pyramid. —XOXO CryptCrier
As a woman who suffers from depression and social anxiety, I’ve made it my mission to candidly share my experiences with the hopes of helping others dealing with the same. This extends into my fiction work, where I pen tales about woeful women trying their best, with a surrealist, magical touch. Inspired by surrealist authors like Haruki Murakami, Sayaka Murata, and Lemony Snicket, my stories are dark and humorous with a hint…well, a bunch…of absurdity.
Haha, still a bit confused that this is a sequel, but I am getting into it + I still wish I hadn't looked up how Drac died, because seriously, that is so bad, even fanfiction would have written it better. XD But in these two volumes we see our girls, in one focus on Cleo, and the other Draculaura. See how they are both doing. Cleo is a bitch, sorry, but she was just so rude and then expected Deuce to magically like her after what she did? Girl, what? But I did feel for her because all she wants is her parents to actually CARE about her, plus I love her fashion sense. Then there is Draculaura who is taking way too much things on her plate and while I love that she keeps going I just want her to relax a bit more and find a way to figure out the grief and loss part. Next to those we have mysterious disappearances, fun Frankie/Clawdeen moments, Fearsquad, lessons (with an explosion), great art, fun bonuses, and more. I am enjoying myself!
My overall review for this series is that it was really good. Had a good story line and some in between plots that were good but didn't take away from the main story too much. The artwork was fantastic and honestly made or broke some of the other comics I've read, I'm glad this artist did it justice. Also can we talk about the first 4 books with Cover A being connected!!
