Ruthless Guardian is the first steamy story in the fiery Ruthless Heirs series. Each book is a standalone novel complete with a HEA, of course, because even villains deserve a happy ending. This series is the next generation of the Kings of Temptation, but it is not necessary to read those stories first. Please this is a dark romance novel with scenes that may be triggering and sexually explicit in nature.

I love mafia romances, and this book has all the elements I love! This was my first time reading anything by this author, and I had a great time. It’s the beginning of a new series featuring the next generation, and after diving into this one, I'm eager to check out the parent's books! The story revolves around Isabella, a mafia princess, the daughter of a powerful mafia leader, and the heir of the Kings empire. Months after she loses her bodyguard, her parents ask her to select a new one. Once she meets the candidates, she picks Raffaele as her new protector.
Rafa is very serious about his rules for keeping his clients safe, making him one of the best in the business. However, his strictness leads to some bickering between him and Isabella, creating a lot of tension from the start. Isabella is such a smart and independent young woman—she’s studying to become a doctor while preparing to take over the family business! One day, her professor offers her an internship in Italy. At first, Rafa doesn't want to go because of his complicated past there, but he eventually gives in to Isabella's wish.
Rafa is grumpy and a perfectionist, but I like his loyalty and protectiveness towards Isabella. His obsession with her is sweet, and you can tell he’d do anything to keep her safe. His dark and sad past tugs at my heartstrings, but I have to admit that sometimes his wishy-washy attitude can be a tad frustrating. He gets jealous about other guys being around Isa, yet he keeps holding back his feelings for her.
On another note, for a mafia romance, this book is quite slow. There were moments in the middle when I felt a bit bored and found myself skimming some pages. I also wish I could connect with the characters on a deeper level, which is a bit of a letdown. That said, I’m still curious about the next book! I liked Serena and can't wait to learn more about Antonio. Plus, I’m interested in Isabella’s cousins, so I hope to discover more about them too!
“I love that you want to protect me, but I’m kind of a badass myself.”
I'm so excited that we get to return to the world of the Kings with the next generation series: Ruthless Heirs. Ruthless Guardian brings in the new wave with the daughter of Stella and Luca; Isabella.
Tropes: 👑Bodyguard = forbidden 👑V-Card Mafia Princess 👑Forced Proximity 👑"Good Girl." 👑Grumpy x Sunshine 👑Possessive Obsessed MMC 👑Mafia World
Isabella is the oldest child of Luca and Stella, and even though she is the daughter, Luca has plans to have her be the next head of the family and run the family business. However, Isabella doesn't want that life, she wants to be a doctor and is working hard in her studies to reach her goal - even though she knows she will most likely have to follow in her father's footsteps. During a night out with her cousins, Isabella's long-time bodyguard is shot and killed, which opens a new bodyguard spot. Enter the delicious, serious, sexy, strict, drool worthy, Raffaele. With a resume and a body she can't say "no" to, Isabella hires Raf for the open position.
With school, Isabella has an opportunity to travel to Rome for the summer. The only way her overprotective father will approve the travel is with her new strict bodyguard to accompany her. However, with a troubled and secret past, Raf refuses to return to his Homeland... but being the Principessa that she is, Isabella is able to get him to agree to go with her with her own ways of persuasion.
With the sexual tension already in place, it is only heightened traveling to Rome and being roomed together and having very close proximity. Raf knew from the beginning with the position that his attraction to Isabella should be reason enough to not take the job, but he just can't stay away. The tension between the two seriously is off the charts, and I'm surprised my Kindle didn't catch fire.
With drama, tension, a shoot out here and a shoot out there, secrets coming to light, the two just can't deny their feelings for each other and you just can't not cheer for them.
I think Isabella was the perfect balance of a Mafia Princess. Yes, she wants her own life, but she also knows her expectations. She's attracted to Raf, even she knows that she shouldn't and really can't have him. But, she's also a strong female who knows what she wants and goes for it anyway. I applaud her. I thought I would have been annoyed with the spoiled Principessa, but no, she was so wholesome, sweet, and good. I just loved her. Then with Raf... *sigh* *drool* Sorry, brain is mush, and I have no words. He can tell me what to do anytime!
Highly recommend and can't wait to read the next books and how the rest of the cousins and Isabella's brother fair!
Well I can most certainly say that Sienna Cross most certainly pulled out all the stops when it Isabella and Raffaele’s book. I was obsessed, and I refused to put it down✨
Now this book has one of my favourite tropes of all time when it comes to mafia romance and that is the bodyguard trope. There’s just something about the forbidden element that hooks me in real good.
Now this book is a second generation from the characters of the Kings of Temptation series but it is not necessary to read the parents books before reading the second generation but I would recommend as it is nice to know the parents stories👏🏼
Now our FMC in this book is Isabella and she is the daughter of Luca Valentino from Ruthless Kings. Isabella lost her bodyguard Frankie in an ambush a month prior and now her parents are urging her to find a replacement for her safety. It is understandable why Isabella was holding off as she considered Frankie a close friend as he was her bodyguard since she was a child. This is how we meet our MMC Raffaele who applies for the bodyguard position.
Now the tension between our MMCs is absolutely delicious, you can practically cut it with a spoon. They are constantly at each others throats as Raffaele is most certainly pulling out all the stops to protect his client Isabella but it definitely goes further than a boss/client relationship if you catch my drift👀
Anywho, Isabella is studying to be a doctor and has been offered an amazing opportunity to study in Rome for the summer. Raffaele doesn’t want to return to Rome as he doesn’t want to come face to face with the past he left behind there, nor did he want to put Isabella in any unnecessary danger. But of course our determined Isabella wins out in the form of blackmail to convince Raffaele to accompany her👀.
I absolutely adored Isabella, she is most certainly not your typical mafia princess. She is the heir to her father’s empire, sassy and strong willed and she challenges Raffaele, which he likes more than he cares to admit. Raffaele is absolutely swoon worthy, he was protective is Isabella, and he put her above all else.
This story was action packed and definitely kept me on my toes. The plot, the tension between our two main characters was absolute perfection and we got a perfect balance of sweet moments and spice. Sienna really started the second generation of the series off to a great start. I am oh so looking forward to the next book that is in store and we get a glimpse of who our main characters will be in the epilogue. I had a hunch who it would be based off the final few chapters and I was thrilled when it was confirmed 👏🏼
Thank you so much to the author and Valentine PR who provided this e-arc for my honest thoughts 💭
This was my first ARC buddy read, which was with @Chiara^•^ since she was the one who brought the ARC signup to my attention, and I had a great time.
Isabella is the daughter of Luca Valentino, and her life has been confined to her gilded cage, even if it's a luxurious one. All she wants is her freedom and her parents to see her as a grown-up who can experience life like others. The opportunity comes in the form of a 3-month summer internship for pre-med students in Rome. There's a lot of back and forth between Isa and Raf with how he handles her security. However, with the attacks on her, she soon realizes he's right to be vigilant and there's more going on that they aren't aware of.
Raffaele knew that taking on Isabella as a client might not be the smartest decision for him, but he feels this pull towards her and, against all reasoning, agrees to become her bodyguard. He doesn't understand this connection and the protectiveness he feels for her, but he wants to make sure she's safe. He's adamant about not returning to Rome at first when Isa gets accepted to the internship program; however, he eventually relents, but this only raises his hackles, and he is even more mindful of the security arrangements for her. He was a bit overbearing and controlling when it came to her safety. However, when we learn more about his past, we realize the reason for it.
The romance between Raf and Isa has a lot of push and pull, especially from Raf's side, which gave Isa whiplash keeping up with his emotions. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stop himself from wanting Isa or acting on his feelings. He does try to resist, but it is futile. Isa brings him a sense of calm, and her presence grounded him. I did love their banter and arguments, which only fueled the tension simmering between them. Isa was patient with him and didn't let him hide his feelings when he tried to. Instead she coaxed him to open up to her and took care of him in a way he hadn't been taken care of in a long time.
I was curious to know who was behind all the attacks and what they were after. The mystery slowly unfolds and definitely took me by surprise. The final 60 pages had a lot of action, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I love how Raf and Isa stood by each other through everything, though, and fought their way out of these situations.
The spice was good, and Raf had a filthy mouth on him. I liked the way these two couldn't keep their hands off each other.
I also loved Isa's relationship with her cousins, especially Serena. Which also has me excited for the next book 'cuz it's Serena's book.
Thank you to Sienna Cross for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was hooked to the book to the extent that I read a bit everyday despite exams. THE SHORT BUTIMPACTFUL CHAPTERS WERE EVERYTHING. I literally couldn't put the book down and that alone indicates how much I liked it. I loved the characters and even the side characters so much. I wanna read Isa's parents and uncles' stories NOW!! AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED IN HOW MUCH I WANT SERENA'S STORY
Rafaelle OMG the man he is so handsome, brooding and hot. Downright sinful to look at but he has eyes for no-one once he meets Isabella who thaws his heart which has been frozen for 10 years now and makes him feel things again and his backstory is something else. Heartwrenching is the only word that describes what my man has gone through. I'd kill his father 100000 times over if its any compensation for what he put my Raf through!!
I Initially thought the book would be solely centered on Isabellas story as a mafia princess and heir strugling to find her frredom and persuing what she loves which it kinda was, but GOD I was pleasantly surprised when Rafaelle had a backstory too and their stories actually mingled a lot and that too in dangerous ways.
I loved Isabella's carefree attitude, her drive for medicine despite being a mafia princess and her and serena's bond is so cuteeee. Also her giving every body guard a nick name>>>>>>AND I LOVED HER OBSESSION WITH COFFEE AND NUTELLA!!! Raf and Isa complimented eachother really well and how they went from getting on eachothers nerves whilst still being Sexually attracted to eachother to loving eachother is such a wholesome journey.
RAF'S POSSESSIVENESS WHEN IT COMES TO ISA (WANTING TO UNALIVE ALL MEN WHO LOOK AT HER W LUST) AND INNERMONOLOGUE WERE SOME OF MY FAV THINGS
ALSO NOW I KNOW SO MANY CURSE WORDS IN ITALLIAN HEHEHHEHE
First ever book I’ve read written my sienna and oh my goodness I’m totally obsessed 😍😍 The moment I picked up the book I was absolutely hooked. I love the story line , the plot twists , chemistry and tension between the characters and I just love Rafefaele and Serena. Ahhh. 🤭🤭Their banter was top tier I just couldn’t stop reading and the flirting lol I was full on blushing . 🤭🤭🤭😚 I can’t wait to read more of Sienna’s books cause this one really had me 🤌🏻😩
💛TROPES💛

It’s the turn of the next generation from Kings of Temptation with Ruthless Guardian as mafia princess Isabella Valentino, daughter of Luca and Stella and heir to the King’s throne fights her family for some vestige of freedom, something they’re not happy to yield on considering the repeated attempts on her life. But when the chance of a medical internship in Italy comes up, there’s no way she’s going to miss out even if it means a new guard in the shape of brooding Raffaele Ferrara.
If you’re a fan of forced proximity, forbidden bodyguard romances as Raf is forced to spend the sultry summer months in an apartment in Rome with the protectee he lusts after you won’t want to miss this book. Laden with sizzling heat, action, and intrigue as Raf’s past came back to haunt him with Isa the means to an end. The romance was slowburn but the heat between the hero and heroine was palpable as Raf struggled to keep his hands off Isa. The overall story had plenty of suspense as the attempts on the Isa’s life increased. With a fabulous cast of secondary characters, I loved Isa’s relationships with her cousins, and I’m especially intrigued by the Rossi twins, I can’t wait to read more from the Ruthless Heirs series.
My goodness!!! This was such a good book! This is second generation, forbidden love, Isabella is always being targeted (which means she needs saving by her bodyguard). Oh how there is so much tension between the two, she is always testing him (they both have feelings for each other, but think the other doesn't), he is always in her space. Jealous/possessive MMC, "I can take care of myself" FMC.
Isabella is a mafia princess, who just wants to be a doctor and not take over the family business (her dad says that she can do both). When her bodyguard dies on the job, she has to get a new one and she is fighting it, until she gets an opportunity to go to Rome for an internship. Raffaele interviews to be Isabella's bodyguard, knowing that he has a small crush on her, but decides to take the job anyway. When he finds out that he has to go back home to Rome, he knows this trip won't end well- he is not welcome home anymore.
Copy received from The Next Step PR. Voluntarily reviewing and all opinions are objective and my own.
This is my first Sienna Cross book but the instant I finished, I went and borrowed book 1 of her previous series, which tells the stories of Isabella’s parents, because this book just made me a fan.
Give me slow burn forbidden romance, add in the mafia princess x bodyguard trope and I eat it up, and that’s exactly what this book did. I couldn’t put it down. The banter, especially in the beginning is top tier, the possessiveness and jealousy makes the book, the plot is solid and entertaining, and the romance/spice slow burn and packed with tension. It was exactly the book I needed in my life right now and I anticipate reading the author’s backlist.
5/5 easily would recommend to anyone seeking a forbidden romance
Favourite Quote : I will guard your heart just as fiercely as your body for as long as I draw breath.
Bloody amazing 🥵🥵🥵. So I got this book as an arc and I didn’t know I was going to get it since I get arcs randomly from the PR company and to my surprise it was this book. The best part being I actually have read the first generation of the mafia series of these characters and I was absolutely in love with them. SIENNA did an amazing job and I couldn’t love Isabella and Rafael more 🥺🥺. The plot the scenes the banter the explanation, i loved how Rafael was actually usually caveman but he never really hurt her like he cared for her opinions and Isabella being a Mafia princess and a badass never backed down. And especially when all the pent up s*xual energy blew up I loved it 🥵🥵. I cannot wait for Antonio and Serena 😍😍😍😍. Bang on I would give this bodyguard Mafia romance more than 5 stars if I could ☺️

I loved Isabella and Rafaele! I loved Raf's tortured soul and Isabella's compassionate heart. They were the perfect complement to each other.
This was my first story from Sienna Cross but I do love that she did a crossover series with the kids of her previous series.
The angst and story for Isabella and Rafaele to get together was amazing. I loved the moments where they almost get together, to have it ripped away and have them start the burn again.
I can't wait for the next story in this series to come out ❤️
This was my first Sienna Cross book, and I was not disappointed! Action, romance, banter, spice, this book ticks all the boxes.
I loved Isabella and Raff. the way they interacted and bounced off each other was not only entertaining, it felt realistic. I can be picky about my Mafia romance books, they too often seem rushed or over exaggerated. This was not the case with Ruthless Gaurdian. This story was detailed, well paced, and thrilling, without being long winded or boring. I can't wait to continue the the series and see what other characters get up to 👀
This was a fun, quick read. Isabella is a mafia princess from New York City and the Raffaele is her guardian, with a very complicated past. Isa is every bit the stubborn, fiery FMC I love, and Raf is the brooding, tall, dark and handsome MMC that is hard to not fall for. Watching them fight against their feelings for each other, especially in a beautiful city like Rome, made for a great read. Our MMC is possessive and jealous, and our FMC loves making him act possessive and jealous. This was my first Sienna Cross book and it definitely won’t be my last (especially the way this book ended).
The story of Rafe and Isabella was just fine, but it wasn't just my hype. That’s just my personal opinion, as I see others are enjoying it
The plot and chemistry were good, no doubt.
At first, I didn't like Rafe, but then he wasn't bad.So I liked him much And I liked Isabella. She was spoiIed kid but I like her energy . basically i enjoyed reading this.
I love second gen book series! We get to fall in love with the characters from the first series, and then we get to see how well they raised their kids (haha). We first get to know Isabella Valentino, heir to the Kings empire, and daughter of Luca, the most ruthless mob boss. Isabella is every bit the mafia princess you’d expect: fiercely protected, has every move watched, and can’t really do anything by herself. On the other hand, she is smart, driven, and wants to become a doctor. When tragedy strikes Isabella’s life, she’s forced to hire a new bodyguard. When she meets Raffaele, she feels an immediate connection to him and an immediate sense of safety and knows that he is the one she needs to hire. Never mind that he is ultra good-looking and has this aura about him. Raffaele is one of the top bodyguards there is (his words) and knows that he would give his life to protect the mafia princess. What he doesn’t expect is the flutter in his chest whenever she’s near, the constant comfort he feels in her presence, and the urge to ravage her at any moment. He knows that she is his client and can not go there, but there is something about Isabella that makes him want to be more, for her. When Isabella has the opportunity to take an internship in Rome, Raffaele does not want to go. He has his reasons but ultimately give in to the mafia princess and vows to protect her on their trip. Things never go as planned, and Raffaele has history with people in Rome. Things start to get dangerous, and Isabella thinks it’s her fault, when really, it’s not. Throughout all the danger, Isabella and Raffaele grow closer, and the tension finally snaps. Once they have each other, there is no going back, even though they don’t know the dangers that are lurking. I loved these two together. They bicker like an old married couple but care deeply for one another. I loved Raffaele’s protectiveness and “don’t mess with what’s mine” vibes, and I love how Isabella was trying to make something of herself outside of the mafia life. Great start to the series!
Mafia Romance ❤️🔥 Bodyguard MMC Age Gap !! Forced Proximity Touch her and ☠️ Feisty Heroine He Falls First
I was very excited to receive this arc! Thank you to —- for sending me! It delivered everything it was promissed! I It’s a bodyguard x princess romance, but not any princess, a mafia princess😆
In this book there’s lots of action, danger, good spice, cute moments, and much more!!
Raffaele the in MMC, the bodyguard, he really tried to not feel attracted to Isabella, but their attraction was stronger. He fell hard. He did everything to protect her. He became obsessed and possessive, he couldn’t even understand how she became so much to him so fast. To outsiders he was harsh but to her he was so gentle and caring. One of my fav things about him.
Isabella, besides having the title of the perfect mafia princess, she’s really smart. What she wants the most is to follow her dream career, to be a doctor, but being the mafia princess really comes with a lot of challenges. After being so protected her whole life, Isabella finally got a bit more freedom and got to experience new things alongside with Rafa. She loves to read also 🥹
Rafa having a tragic past + Isabela being the mafia princess created an intriguing story line. They went to several life threatening situations, everything just added up more for them to fall in love. I loved that there’s wasn’t a third act break up, or miscommunication. And if love Rome and Italian man, it’s one more reason for you to read this book !! The vibes are amazing, and how he calls her “princepessa” was everything to me 🥹
"I will guard your heart just as fiercely as your body for as long as I draw breath." Ruthless Guardian by Sienna Cross is an electrifying mafia romance that delivers all the tension, danger, and passion fans of the genre crave. The story centers on Isabella, the ambitious daughter of a mafia don, who unexpectedly loses her long-time bodyguard, Frankie, and must hire a new protector. Enter Raffaele, a strict and brooding former soldier with a troubled past, who is determined to keep Isabella safe but finds himself increasingly drawn to her.
The chemistry between Isabella and Raffaele is sizzling, with their constant bickering giving way to undeniable attraction. Isabella is a smart, strong-willed character, defying traditional mafia princess tropes as she pursues her dream of becoming a doctor while preparing to take over the family business. Raffaele, on the other hand, is all intensity and loyalty, torn between his duty and his growing feelings for her.
The plot is packed with suspense, action, and plenty of steamy moments, keeping readers hooked from start to finish. With its perfect blend of romance, danger, and intrigue, Ruthless Guardian is an exciting start to a new series, and I'm already eager to see what happens next in this mafia world. If you're a fan of forbidden romance with a protective hero and a fierce heroine, this book is definitely for you!

ARC REVIEW *I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review*
Overbearing possessive and controlling bodyguard yes please! I need my own Raffaele after this book. My God the man is a controlling asshole but his words....my God his words are just pure filth and I'm here for it. Mafia Princess Isabella Valentino needs a new bodyguard after her last took a bullet for her. She's still traumatized from the situation and doesn't necessarily want one but when an opportunity to go to Rome for school comes up she believes it's time to start living again. Raffaele is probably one of the best bodyguards in the world. No kids or wife and is dedicated to his charge willing to lay his life down. But when he learns his charge is to go to Rome for an internship he immediately regrets the job. He hasn't been back in Rome in over a decade for good reason and bringing a client there is the worst thing he could possibly do. But the mafia princess always gets what she wants. Mhhhh lord the steam and filth that happens between these pages is everything. And the plot is just that good to me. Mysterious sh00tings and trying to find out whose behind it. Raff's backstory had me in tears. The way this man loves hard! Good luck to anyone thinking they can just talk to Isabella let alone touch her. This series ties into The Kings of Temptation, which is based on the Heirs and off rip this series starts off with a boom and a ton of Easter eggs. Personally I loved reading that the parents are still disgustingly in love with each other and how the kids love and hate it lol. The epilogue has me dying for Serena's book because April is just much too far 🤣
(Thank you Grey Promos and Sienna Cross for the opportunity to read this ARC)
Isabella is a mafia princess in all respects. So when her former bodyguard is killed while protecting her she needs to choose a new one. Along comes Raf who had spotted her at the club during the unfortunate incident. Raf is a very tough and demanding bodyguard. He has oodles of rules and protocols he wants Isabella to follow. Things seem great until she is offered a medical internship in Rome and Raf is forced to accompany her. It’s bad for him since he didn’t leave Rome under the best circumstances and Isabella is always trying to thwart the rules. Raf was very endearing at how protective he was over her, he would try to literally destroy anyone who put a finger on her. Isabella was very annoying to me. I dislike when characters know they need to be protected and go against advice and sneak out. I do warm up towards her as their relationship develops because she is torn knowing that she wants to be with him and that she shouldn’t cross those line. These two had great banter and I enjoyed the romance between them.

Ruthless Guardian is the first story in the new Ruthless Heirs series of stand alone novels, the second generation of The Kings of Temptation. Each story features a ruthless heir and a love interest who brings them to their knees. HEA with the villain guaranteed!
You just can’t beat a forbidden romance & this one was done perfectly! When a Mafia Princess meets her new bodyguard… the tension is on another level! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!✨
Isabella
I'm a mafia princess, heir to the Kings' throne. My entire life has been spent behind the bars of a gilded cage. Protected, admired, adored. Controlled. I long for freedom. In one night, everything changes… Enter Raffaele Ferrara, dark, broody and tormented. And the most frighteningly gorgeous man I've ever seen. My new bodyguard is all rules and restraint. But beneath our clashes, an undeniable attraction simmers—dangerous, forbidden, irresistible.
Raffaele
Isabella Valentino is off-limits. She's young and naïve and most importantly, my new client. I live by my rules; in my world, everything is about control. That's why I'm the best at what I do. And rule number one: Never get involved with the principal. But the woman is a force of nature. Ignoring my rules and procedures, she's intent on breaking every single one. And my tethers of restraint grow weaker by the day. Worse, I don't want to fight it anymore. Isabella Valentino is mine.
I liked this couple's back and forth as they were pit against one another. And overall, this is a solid bodyguard mafia romance. Some excellent action sequences in particular too peppered throughout which kept a solid pace.
I think my hesitation comes in some of the characters' actions so it gave me pause. Raff says he's all professional in one breath but seems to give in so easily to her advances in the other. And our FMC I kind of found annoying and immature. At times she could be vulnerable but then gets bold the very next and it jarred me sometimes (especially when talk would get extra spicy).
This was my first book by Sienna, but it definitely won’t be my last. This book had everything- banter, spice, twists and turns. I can not wait for the next book in this series.
My first Sienna Cross & definitely will not be my last. She had me at mafia and hooked me with the uber possessive and oh so sexy bodyguard. Raf will do anything for his Principessa (sp?? I listened to the audio) and I am so there for all of it! The slow burn into the inferno 🔥
Samantha & Jefferey were Italian perfection. Mafia poured out of my speakers 😬 Seriously they were both great.

I have not read a good bodyguard romance in quite some time, but this story was everything I’ve craved. This second-generation standalone series from The Kings of Temptation series, was so entertaining, that I’m finally going to snatch up Ruthless King and start reading Isabella’s parents’ story.
I loved how strong, fiery, and independent Isabella was. She’s very accomplished and is used to getting everything she wants. Her father loves her, and although he may appear overbearing, he goes out of his way to make her happy. Isabella loves deeply and truly cares for others. When Isabella was interviewing for a new bodyguard, she wouldn’t accept anyone who had a family because she didn’t want them to experience loss like she did with her first bodyguard Frankie. Throughout the story, as frustrating as it was for our dear male lead Raffaele, I loved that Isabella worried for those caught up in her affairs. The only issue I had with her was that throughout the story she acknowledged the need for a new bodyguard and the changes that came with one, yet continued to behave childishly. It was like she only acknowledged the danger she was in, in her head, and tried to live out her life as if it didn’t exist.
I loved Raffaele from his first chapter. He’s cocky because he’s just that good at his job. There were times he was overbearing, but it was mellowed out by Isabella’s sass. I loved how he was committed to his job as Isabella’s guard. He didn’t want any feelings to cause him to make a mistake in keeping her safe, and truly tried to keep work and personal affairs separate. His acknowledgment of the age gap between him and Isabella was also refreshing. When he became aware of his feelings for Isabella, he was 100% on board to settle down, but knowing that Isabella had yet to truly live life, was willing to wait.
I adored the get-togethers Isabella and her cousins had. The family banter was such a nice touch to a usually dark genre (Mafia Romance). Isabella’s cousin and best friend Serena was the life of the party. I loved her go-getter attitude and am excited to read her story. That sneak peak at the end was the icing on the cake.
If you’re in the mood for a slow burn, mafia bodyguard romance with a happily ever after and dual point of view, I recommend giving this book a read.
A few of my favorite quotes: Raf clears his throat and wraps his fingers around my upper arm, gone is the light touch on my elbow. He wants to show everyone around us that he’s in charge, that I belong to him. The possessive hold is all at once infuriating and exciting. Because obviously, I’ve got issues.
She’s fucking giggling. The guy is not funny. (Probably my favorite quote from the story because for some unknown reason, I laughed my ass off reading these lines and then when I shared it with a friend with no context and they also laughed, I had to put it in my review.)
“We might not be allowed to be together right now, but that doesn’t mean I’ll let anyone else have you either.”
But as Isabella loves to remind me, she always gets what she wants. I’m so damned lucky that right now, I’m what she wants.

Rating: 4.5 Ruthless Guardian is a thrilling and steamy Mafia romance that expertly blends intense emotions with high-stakes action. The story follows Isabella, the cherished daughter and heir of an Italian mafia family, and her brooding bodyguard, Rafaelle. While Isabella has been pampered and protected throughout her life, she is also trapped—caged within her lavish home for her safety. But when Rafaelle enters her world as her personal protector, the chemistry between them is undeniable, setting the stage for a slow-burn romance that's impossible to resist. From the moment Rafaelle steps into Isabella's life, sparks fly. Despite their professional relationship, their undeniable attraction quickly escalates, forcing them both to confront their desires and the risks that come with it. The push and pull between their growing connection and the weight of their responsibilities creates an addictive tension that drives the plot forward. Isabella is feisty and independent, a heroine who refuses to be solely defined by her family's power. Meanwhile, Rafaelle, a man with a tragic past, finds himself in a position where he must protect the woman he's beginning to love—even if it means confronting his demons. The book expertly plays with several compelling tropes: age gap, forced proximity, enemies-to-lovers, and one bed, all while creating an atmosphere that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The romantic build-up is exquisite, with the slow burn between Isabella and Rafaelle intensifying as their pasts—both personal and familial—threaten to tear them apart. The "touch her and die" dynamic is palpable throughout, adding an element of danger and suspense that keeps the tension high. What really stands out is the way the author handles Rafaelle’s tragic past. It’s not just a plot device but a crucial element that shapes his every decision and, ultimately, his feelings for Isabella. His devotion to her is not just because she’s his charge, but because she becomes someone worth fighting for. Isabella, though sheltered, is no damsel in distress. She's strong, determined, and willing to fight for what she believes in, even if it means challenging her family's expectations. Her vulnerability adds depth to her character, making her both relatable and compelling as a heroine who evolves through the course of the story. The book has the perfect blend of steamy romance, action, and emotional depth, with the chemistry between Isabella and Rafaelle being utterly magnetic. The tension builds expertly, leading to some very intense, page-turning moments. The combination of danger, romance, and betrayal makes Ruthless Guardian an unputdownable read for fans of Mafia romance and bodyguard tropes. Overall, Ruthless Guardian is a passionate, high-stakes story that delivers a satisfying mix of romance, suspense, and emotional intensity. If you love a strong, protective hero, a feisty heroine, and a journey that’s as dangerous as it is alluring, this book is a must-read.
4.25stars-RUTHLESS GUARDIAN is the first instalment in Sienna Cross’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS HEIRS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is thirty year old, former Italian Special Forces turned bodyguard Raffaele Ferrara, and twenty-two year old med student / Mafia princess Isabella Valentino’s story line.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Raffaele and Isabella) RUTHLESS GUARDIAN follows in the wake of an attack against our story line heroine. When Isabella’s lifelong bodyguard was killed trying to protect her, Isabella struggled to move forward until the day her father hired a new guard, former Italian Special Forces solider Raffaele Ferrara, a man whose secrets are dangerous and dark. An opportunity for Isabella, and three month internship in Italy finds Raffaele on edge, fearing the demons from his past at every corner. Battling to keep our heroine safe in the wake of her need to defy her security, Raffaele is reluctantly falling for a woman who refuses to back down , a fall that brings with it too many memories from the past.
The world building follows in the wake of numerous attempts against Isabella’s life but Raffaele will quickly discover not everything is at it appears to be. The target area is growing, and our couple find themselves facing down a familiar foe.
The relationship between Isabella and Raffaele begins as an assignment but Isabella refuses to abide by her security detail’s demands. Always defying orders and suggestions, Isabella is often TSTL in the face of several attacks against her life. Early on in the story line, Isabelle is a manipulative, immature and often unlikable heroine, pushing Raffaele’s buttons, buttons that should never have been pressed. Falling for Isabella was never in his future but Raffaele finds himself falling for the one woman able to take him down. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and questionable secondary and supporting characters including siblings, cousins, friends, co-workers, many of whom cannot be trusted or with dubious motives.
RUTHLESS GUARDIAN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, murder and obsession, dysfunctional family values, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark and captivating; the romance is seductive ; the characters are dynamic and charismatic but it too awhile to accept the story line heroine.

**Thank you to Sienna Cross for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.**
I was first introduced to Sienna Cross' books through the prior book to this series, which was the last book in the Kings of Temptations Series.
I was so intrigued and drawn into the storyline in Wicked King, that I just had to continue with the next chapter in the spinoff series.
Here in Ruthless Guardian, we meet one of Luca's children, Isabella and her new bodyguard, Raffaele and how this was definitely NOT a match made to work off the bat.
It seemed like it was off to a fabulous start and slowly, but surely, you see that the two were like oil and water, and yet it did work. I did love that it wasn't really insta-love, but more so insta-lust with the two of them and it was a work-in-progress, rather than a one falls for one before the other with a one sided pursual.
The action in this book was jam packed and that was definitely one of my favorite things about the book. I'm all about an action packed story combined with some sexy, steamy scenes and this book definitely did deliver in that category! Check mark away!!
** The reason why it didn't receive a full 5 star rating from me overall is more due to my personal preference rather than a high-level overview, so this has nothing to do with the actual overall story itself.
This has more to do with how particular I am about characters sometimes. Sure, Isabelle is a strong FMC, which I am all for, but where that like I had her for lessened was when I kept reading about how spoiled of a princess she was. I love strong FMC, but personally, I cannot deal with spoiler, young FMC's who continuously try to use their looks and how they "get their way," all the time. She did grow a bit, but she was more of a spoiled character and that was a really hard pill for me to swallow.
I loved Raffaele, and sure he wasn't the most patient of MMC and overbearing, but I think most readers expect that with Mafia trope stories, and honestly, I read books for that sort of overbearing, possessive MMC. He did get a teensy bit annoying because of his overprotectiveness, but it was at the end for good cause, and I don't blame him for being the way he is.**
Overall, a great read I recommend to anyone look for a new Mafia story to read.
Cannot wait for Serena's story, she was such a hoot throughout this book.

I'm going to start by admitting that I'm not typically a huge fan of next generation stories. I gave this a chance because I love nearly anything mafia & had thoroughly enjoyed the Kings of Temptation series. I am more than glad that I gave it a chance, and cannot wait for the rest of this series!

Isabella is the eldest child and heir to King Enterprises – daughter of Stella & Luca from Ruthless King. Raffaele is the overbearing, grumpy, rule-following bodyguard she never wanted.
Their story begins after Isabella's longtime bodyguard is killed during a night out, and she's forced to eventually choose a new one. Sparks & anger fly from the get-go and it's not the first time they've met. She wants to live a free life, as a pediatric doctor, away from the responsibilities of being an heir. His rules are too strict and she can't help but push back at every turn.
When she's offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to intern at a hospital in Rome, she jumps to be free. Raffaele is adamantly against this due to traumas & triggers of his past, and doesn't want to return to his homeland. Isabella, obviously, will get her way being the mafia princess that she is. (Side note: Raffaele’s backstory is absolutely gut-wrenching.)
What's the worst that can happen when traveling abroad when the sexual tension is already off the charts? Obviously, it will continue to get worse until there's no choice but to succumb to it. Drama, shoot-outs, death, and sordid family histories keep them on their toes during the entire stay in Rome.
The tension, angst, laughs, and heartbreak are wonderfully done through this entire book. I couldn’t put it down once I started. The slow burn starts over and over again, between moments, and it’s great...hence my favorite quote from the book.
