Run With Me: A story of two shelter dogs

Rate this book
When volunteer dog walker, Brynn, grows to love two dogs at the animal shelter, she vows to find them both the best forever homes.

Brewski found himself living in a large animal shelter filled with unfamiliar faces and is filled with fear and uncertainty. He was the security system at his old house. He lived his life in a small igloo outdoors while chained to a fence 24/7. Now he must learn to navigate life in a shelter for several months as he is considered live evidence in an ongoing court case.

When Brewski crosses paths with Piper, he starts to come out of his shell. Piper came to the shelter as a stray after being re-homed by a loving family who decided they could no longer care for her. She is confident, sassy, and fearless. Her time in the shelter also seems to drag on as no one seems to want her. Piper and Brewski form an unbreakable friendship that helps them both during their extended stay in the shelter.

Run With Me offers the story of two shelter dogs from the unique perspective of a volunteer, while capturing the unforgettable personalities of both dogs. It is filled with real-life experiences and heartfelt moments shared with a volunteer and her two favorite shelter dogs.

In the heart of every shelter volunteer lies both joy and heartache, but above all, unwavering love for the animals.

If you love dogs - and more importantly want to help save and advocate for shelter dogs - this is a MUST read! As a volunteer at the same shelter as the author, I relate to the joy and heartache she shares through her eyes, and even more so the eyes of the two shelter dogs (both who are/were real dogs at the shelter.

You might cry, but it will be worth it. Take what you learn and support your local animal shelter/rescue.

Well-written story of the life of two shelter dogs in a real-life situation. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry. Everyone should educate themselves with this book whether you are a shelter volunteer or an adopter.

I had a hard time deciding if this was fiction or nonfiction. The hard life of shelter dogs was true, but assuming what the dogs were thinking or had been through made it seem more like fiction. That said, it is important to know that shelter life is hard for dogs and hard for the volunteers, who are so needed.

Adopt don't shop

An amazing story. All of my fur babies were rescues, and I truly believe whatever their beginning was, allows them to love like crazy. This book did a great job of painting a picture of what it must feel like to be an animal in a shelter. I curled up with my pit bull, dog fight ring survivor, laughed and cried while finishing this book in a few hours.

A powerful and fast read that is inspiring & heart-wrenching, funny & heavy, fact & fiction.

I thought I wouldn't like reading a partially-fictionalized story about such a serious topic that is so dear in my heart, but the author did an amazing job telling parts of the story from the dogs' points of view that it completely changed my mind. What a great book. I recommend this to anyone thinking about doing some volunteer work and anyone thinking about getting a dog. Sarah Jo Randolph did a wonderful job creating this book and sharing her message with the rest of the world.

P.S. - I chatted with the author the day I completed reading this book and found out she's working on a second book—I can't wait to read that one, too!
