Life in the Prison State: Uncovering North Korea's Human Rights Violations through Photographs

Rate this book
Because photographs could become eternal records and memories, I tried to capture the appearances of North Korean people who, up to this moment, are struggling to see another day. I pushed myself to work harder, even though my work might seem insignificant, in order to let the outside world know about North Korean people. I wanted the world to resonate with them. After watching the appearances of the North Korean people filmed in fleeting moments, I was not able to look the other way. Because they seemed to me like a gloomy eternity that would not just last for a moment or a day, but continue the following day, and so on. Indeed, their lives exist outside of our time.
