Lt. Lazarus Grenville and Lt. Daniel Thompson attempt to rescue the survivors of a downed freighter but unwittingly become the victims of a crash themselves. Marooned on the most dangerous moon in the solar system, they must find a way to survive and still accomplish their mission. Unbeknownst to them, something else is waiting for them in the volcanic sulfur dusts of Io.
It didn’t take long at all to read this short story, and it was good enough for me to go ahead and download the next book in the Salvagers series. I look forward to reading more! I found out about John Michael Godier’s books through his YouTube videos on Extraterrestrial theory... they are a must see for any Science Fiction fan as well as anybody with an open mind to the possibility of extraterrestrial intelligence.
Probably a 3.5 would be more accurate. Finding an alien artifact on Io, Jupiter's moon, but also being under the stress of losong their ship to that dust behaving like liquid, was not really that great experience you'd expect. Not to mention conflict between the 2 men, apparently inflicted by that artifact. But this is, still, am intriguing startup for the first novel in the series of The Salvagers.
Rescue at Io was an interesting short tale following two astronauts stranded on Io, attempting a rescue after detecting a radio signal. The narrative definitely kept me going and there was good tension built for such a short story. I'll be interested to read more books from this series.
Man, the only problem with this is that it is too short! W want more! Such a captivating universe. When the next book comes, I want to be the first to know!
