In 2017, after speaking to a group of foster youth, April founded Lydia’s Place, a ministry serving young adults who have experienced foster care or homelessness. April and her husband have four girls and live on a mini-farm outside of Athens, Georgia.

This beautifully written book encourages you to dive deeper into discovering who God designed you to be. If you’re seeking to strengthen your relationship with God while uncovering who you were meant to be, this book is a must-read. The thought-provoking prompts will inspire and encourage you to fulfill the purpose God has for your life.

Visiting the topic of who I am in Christ is something I’ve done every few years since becoming a Christian. The focus of WHOSE I am, more specifically, looking at the individual pieces of who I am in relation to belonging to a loving God, now that is a perspective I wanted to look into more deeply.
In her author’s foreword, April Farlow candidly talks about the reparation of her heart. Well, I thought my heart could use a little repair too. Recent loss of both my career and my spouse has left me time to really notice a void in need of filling.
For me, this was a slow contemplative read. This study is packed with relatable life experiences. I found myself first evaluating where my mind and heart have been. Then applying the skillfully added questions to these beliefs. I was able to shed some untruths while collecting a stronger understanding of the heart of our loving Father.
For me, three chapters were especially helpful. In The Compared Piece I was able to find a greater sense of God as my Father.
April asks, “So, why are we letting comparison continue to be our compass? Focus on who God says you are above all else. You must believe God designed you to be uniquely and wonderfully who you are. Every piece of me and every piece of you? It’s exactly how God intended it to be, which should give us both a sense of relief. No piece of you should make me question any piece of me.”
While I read thru the Rules Piece, I was able to shed some “shoulds” that were more from the world. As I prayerfully set these down, I was able to put a peace from God in their place.
Ultimately, The Purpose Piece chapter brought me a bit of hopeful joy. I used to be very in-tune with things I was naturally good at. But with the hurriedness and needs of daily life, I became what and who I thought I needed to be. I can say I am now a bit closer to what I believe was His original design for me.
I highly recommend this beautifully written study to those who are looking to move knowledge of who we are in Christ from their head to their heart. It is suited for group study, though I would imagine that pre-study individually would bring the best experience.

This book is a beautiful balance of a memoir, a testimony, and a practical guide on how to both reflect on your life and look forward to your life’s next chapter with God by your side.
Reading this book, and working through the question prompts, has given me meaningful (perhaps transformational!) clarity on how God has walked with me through all the chapters and ‘pieces’ of my life.
The way that the author describes God’s ability to blend our earthly experiences – both the good and the bad – together in us and through us in our purpose - is a combination of inspiring, validating, and humbling. There are highlights, underlines, notes, and circled paragraphs all over the pages of my book that I intend to reread when I need a reminder of how our Heavenly Father is always at work.
One of my favorite parts of "Pieces of You" are the prayers offered at the end of each chapter. In fact, the prayer “Take all my pieces and use them to point others to You” is now a prayer I say each morning.
Overall, this book is truly a gift! All who read this book are certain to finish with their faith further reignited.

It took me longer than it should have to get through this book. I struggled in the beginning because I am someone who needs to relate to a situation in order to feel connected to a book. The beginning being about her own marriage made it hard because I wasn’t struggling in the same ways as the author. I did, however, start to relate and find similarities and it was good to see ways to connect my marriage to God. I think that we stray from that and in turn, our marriages are harder work than they should be.
I’m thankful for the authors vulnerability and sharing with her readers deep emotions and situations that happened in her own marriage.

Such a great book!! Don’t pass this one up! These days, in this chaotic world, it can be rather easy to lose sight of who we truly are meant to be, by trying to piece together the broken pieces of ourselves we sometimes forget Who created us and why He created us. This book helps us to remember that we are here for a purpose and that we are so loved by our Heavenly Father. Do yourself a favor and get this book. April has an amazing way with her words and a gift that goes far beyond pen and paper. What a blessing it is to read Pieces of You!

I loved this book! April generously shares personal stories from her life that allowed me to reflect honestly about my own life and the narrative I tell myself. I love the way the book is structured with questions at the end of every chapter. This helped me be intentional and thoughtful in the way I will apply these truths to my life. It would be a great book to use in a small group setting as well.

I met April on my honeymoon and got to get to know her and her husband, Kip. I’m honored to say that she’s a friend. Her writing is so authentic, and I don’t often get to laugh and read someone’s book because I know the stories are true and genuine. April works hard and is super honest. Her personality and overall love for the Lord and drive to help us experience His love shines through this book.

I know for one that your book is a must read, a positive, necessary read for one and all. It will be a book that I go back to many times. The idea that we have many pieces of ourselves that need to be identified and that we can piece them together was such an interesting premise. As well, being one with God really is empowering

Amazing book full of insight and lots of soul searching prompts. It’s an easy read and has been a great group bible study. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to cultivate a deeper relationship with God while learning about all the intricate pieces that go into and form that relationship to its fullest.

Currently reading this book with my women’s small group and using it as our study. It’s a thought provoking, yet easy read. April beautifully tells her story as she guides the reader to analyze their story and navigate questions that can deepen and strengthen their relationship with God. I think this book will be a great tool for me as I discover more about myself and who God made me to be.

A well written compelling inspirational book that encourages and helps me to find my identity in the One Who created me. Even a senior citizen like me can learn new dimensions of who I am and Whose I am.
An easy read that I found hard to put down. Worthy of reading again and again.

Such an inspiring and powerful book by April Farlow. Sort of a memoir meets practical guide for self reflection. I love not only the intricate stories April shares from her own highs and lows, but also from many others who have shared with her (the “kaleidoscopes”). This is a book you can read and re-read when you need reminded of who you are and Whose you are.

“Pieces of You” is a beautiful exploration of how one’s identity is formed and defined through the collection of life’s experiences. April’s vulnerability is inspiring; and the most captivating part is the realization that knowing God and who we have become in Him is what holds it all together.

April Farlow’s first book is a beautiful example of what happens when we look to our Heavenly Father to tell us who we are and whose we are. We discover our unique gifts and gain wisdom and insight on how to best use them to serve God and others. April’s background as a values coach and her heart for God weave together a practical approach to strengthening our identify in Christ. She uses humility, grace, and sound wisdom as her medium. This book is for everyone!
