William is now the eleventh Duke of Tensington, with a whole new estate to run, complete with stables where the famous Withcombe Bays are housed. From his childhood he has hated the horses his father loved, and now he must decide what to do with them.
Sarah Mondragon is the only child of Arnas, the Withcombe horsemaster. Since his accident, she has been the acting master of horse for the estate. When the newest duke arrives, he makes it clear that he is now the boss. The battle is on for control of the stables.
Neither one is likely to budge, but a growing attraction blossoms despite their best attempts to hold it at bay. Both are determined to have nothing to do with one another. But the horses themselves may have other ideas...
The Horsemaster's Daughter by Grace Colline is a beautifully crafted story that captivated me from the start. Colline’s writing is engaging and flows seamlessly, making it hard to put the book down. The characters are richly developed - each coming to life with depth and nuance that added layers to the story. Watching them grow and interact felt incredibly real, making me invested in their journeys. This book is an immersive experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a novel that combines strong character development with an engaging plot.
Pretty meh, overall. I've read worse? But it could have been a lot better.
Weird timing, zero chemistry, lack of consistency, not to mention the duke's dower house is in another town??? It should not have taken 2 1/2 days to read a book that is barely over 200 pages, but here we are.
