K.C. Preston loved to read. At an early age, K.C. would get lost in the worlds created within the pages. Some of K.C.'s favorite authors included Beverly Cleary, V.C. Andrews, Francine Pascal, among others. That's probably when the writing bug bit K.C.
As a teenager, K.C. would write young adult books and poetry in numerous notebooks (though they're hidden away some place safe where no one will ever find them. Not even K.C.!).
Now K.C. gets lost in the world of fantasy, reading such books as The Demigods Academy, the Mist King series, the Shannara series, and The Wheel of Time, to name a few.
When not reading (or writing), K.C. enjoys traveling the world, drinking wine on the front porch, and watching copious hours of Law & Order.
This book has excellent world building. I was able to visualise everything that was being described with great detail. It kept me on my toes with twists and turns throughout. I loved that it was fast paced and has nice short chapters, which made reading it quick easy. I also loved how the author created tensions between characters relationships as well as creating a different kind of a love story. Definitely had me a bit teary at the end.
A fast-paced, epic fantasy adventure that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next. The characters are vibrant and exciting, and the author built an amazing world.. Put this on your reading list!
Had it not been for the characters, besides Bel and Abraham, I would have loved this story so much more. I hated Lillyanna. She was entitled, a brat, judgemental, and all around bitch. The way she treated Dayimun for things she didnt fully understand really irritated. She judged him for defending himself and doing whatever it took to survive. Something she knew nothing about. At the same time, I couldn't stand Dayimun either! The way he treated Lil like a toy and something to be used rubbed me the wrong way. The only character I liked was Abraham and thats because he didnt pretend to be something he wasnt. He was complicated and intense. Arden, one of the villians, was awesome too. Only because he was bad. Horrible. And I love a good villian. Now, ignoring what I didnt like, the PLOT WAS AMAZING! I love the magic lore, the world, and the evil inflicting every part of the story. Im so curious to see how this will shake out
This was mostly a riveting read from the get-go. Watching the cat and mouse between Damiyun and his brother Arden was fulfilling in so many ways. Of course from the moment I smelled the scent of explosive magical battles, demons, and a devil-like god who lorded over the course of events from the shadows, I was already swooped in. The author did a wonderful job, showing Lil's transformation and journey. And, it was a perilous one indeed. I'm very curious of the fate that awaits many of the characters in future books, including little Bel lol. The pacing of the story was great, and went by in a breeze. There were instances I hated all the characters, some more than others, but I swept past it.
Daughter of Fire & Storm is a captivating fantasy full of danger, magic, and destiny. Lillyanna is a heroine you can root for, and her connection with Damiyun adds both tension and heart to the story. The world-building is vivid, with Suppressors, demons, and gods shaping a tale that feels both epic and urgent. A great read for fans of fantasy quests and slow-burn romance.
I'm absolutely hooked! Daughter of Fire & Storm has it all - epic fantasy world-building, swoony romance, and heart-pumping action. Lillyanna's journey from hiding her powers to embracing her destiny is so compelling. And Damiyun? Swoon! Their chemistry is undeniable. The stakes are high, the plot twists are thrilling, and the world feels immersive. Can't wait for the next installment!
Their love forever binding, the betrayal cuts deep
A book of passion, friendships being tested, loyalties being questioned I could not put it down. Who would succumb to the darkness? In the end would the ultimate betrayal cut deep? How far would a Mother go to protect her child?
This book takes you through a while ride! So many twists and turns in this book and unexpected events. There is so much going on that it makes you want to keep reading! Can’t wait to see more!
Now this is how you do a romantic fantasy! It’s a perfect balance of worldbuilding and building a romantic connection between characters! There was so many twist and turns that had me shook! An amazing debut and I will read the sequel!
I really enjoyed this fantasy romance, although I don’t normally read much spice. I could ‘see’ the three main characters. I hope that there is a sequel to this, it feels that there is more to know about this world and the characters.
Not my normal go to genre but this was a fast paced fantasy romance that kept my interest right to the end. Plenty of twists, three engaging characters and felt like it should be part of a series so will look out for more. Recommended 4 stars.
