The Wings of the Spectrum by Sarah Marriott is a charming and imaginative fantasy adventure that blends the magic of the fae with the courage of human friendship. When Freya reluctantly spends her summer at her grandmother’s rural home, she meets Rhianne, a fae princess tasked with earning her wings and saving her realm. Drawn into a world of wonder and danger, the two girls must work together to face a powerful enemy and restore balance to the fae world. Marriott crafts a vivid, enchanting setting and a fast-paced plot filled with heart and adventure. Themes of bravery, loyalty, and self-discovery run throughout, making this an engaging read for younger fantasy fans and anyone who enjoys tales of unlikely heroes and magical worlds.
'I really enjoyed this book . There are multiple fae races with interesting different realms and background, with a colour based magic system which was interesting. I enjoyed watching Rhianne earn her wings and it felt high stakes as I wasn't sure she'd overcome all the threats. There was a bit of a love triangle and I was happy about how it turned out. You'd probably enjoy this book if you like Holly Jacksons's The Cruel Prince'
I’m not really much of a reader. I’m a slow reader and I also get bored quite easily, however there is something about this story that has me gripped. And I am loving my journey through Woodbury so far!
What an epic read, would highly recommend, couldn't put it down. Read this on holiday, a couple of hours a day emerging myself in the realms of the Faye and their foe. More twists and turns than a dwarven kingdom's tunnel network.
