Once again J R Rain released a piece of a book for $2.99. I am getting tired of this. All the short stories were interesting but so few of them.

Five stories from the Sam Moon Universe.
1) Blue Moon. 7.6. Comes right after ‘Moon Island’. Sam meets a mysterious stranger at Starbucks.
2) Vampire vs. Bigfoot. Very short cool story.
3) The Bull. Odd and weird. A rodeo clown has an interesting meeting with a lightning bolt.
4) The Prophetic Heart. A man hears his heart loudly beating non-stop. But no one else can.
5) Vampire Dawn: Outtake. A ‘Vampire Dawn’ ending the author liked but couldn’t make work. I like it too, but it ends at a ‘I want more’ place.

Supernatural and Quirky

Several supernatural and quirky stories, interesting and inviting. A quick look, into the beginning of "The Witch and the Gentleman" seemingly based on Samantha's friend/assistant Allison and her growing psychic abilities, looks interesting!

2 1/2 stars. Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not sure what the point of this story is. It is a little quirky, but otherwise it is just there. Maybe if I had read the books surrounding this I would understand it more, but I haven't got there yet.

Dropped right back into the series after amonth plus hiatus! and felt right back in place. Wanted to find on par or better, and failed to do so.
Short-short, Mystery coffee shop drinker/worker interests Samantha and her daughter.

On this Dreary Memorial Day Weekend at the Jersey Shore I consider this J.R. RAIN Book Fun AND sometimes scary Collection of "Rain" Drops... Its Short stories starting with Our own Samantha Moon and if you haven't read any of The Samantha Moon books then I feel Like you are missing out on some great fun... These put twilight to shame cause really I'm not a teenager although I do like glitter ;) I am a Mom who would do anything to protect her children... (ya gettin the idea ? I hope so ) For those of you who HAVE read the Samantha Moon Books (YAY) we have Samantha in a Starbucks with an intriguing man that's all I'm saying.. Then we Also have an Alternate Ending to another one of the Samantha Moon Books that is terrifying and Loving the Ghosts!! "The Bull" I would love to see this made into a Movie.. Crimefighting superhero Hybrid (Not gonna tell you how it happens sorry ya gotta read ;) In "Bigfoot" a Vampire story with a very BIG twist.. even if you are immortal doesn't mean ... you are ... Then we have "The Prophetic Heart" I have to say this one scared the pixie dust out of me because I have
Tachycardia (my heart beats crazy and I can hear it But I take medication and keep myself in shape to make it "less") so yeah this one scared me.. Read it!! And Finally His Last Bow
by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle - I started reading this and was like..what? then ooohhhh cooooooolllll didn't see this coming!!! I'm telling you this is a fun read it only took me a two parts of two days to read.. I LOVED it.. I give this Collection 5 Big Fat Juicy "RAIN" drops ... ENJOY!! I did

Blue Moon
By J.R. Rain

Another Compilation which I read on a lazy July 4th afternoon. The title short story did concern Samantha Moon, but, unfortunatley, it was one I had read in a different compilation (grrrr). Fortunately, it's a favorite of mine, in which Rain inserts himself into the story in a very charming meeting of author and character over a Starbucks.

I also sort of enjoyed "Vampire vs. Bigfoot," although I didn't love it. Interesting twist and quite creative.

"The Bull" was a waste of my time. In fact, I stopped half way through, did a little yard work, and then came back and slogged through the rest (and it wasn't that long, folks).

The Prophetic Heart was also a waste of prime reading time. Sigh.

"The Vampire Dawn: Outtake" was an alternate ending to one of the novels which Rain developed an attachment to for whatever reason. Interesting to read a different ending, although I'm not sure why I bothered as it contained a lot of the same material as the actual ending to that novel contained.

And once again, a story not by Rain, although a classic by Sir Author Conan Doyle. I didn't read it. If I wanted to read Doyle, I'd buy a compilation of his works.

Blue Moon: A Samantha Moon Story is a collection of short stories by JR Rain...author of the Vampire For Hire series. Two of the short stories feature Samantha Moon. The first is a fun story having our heroine meet a writer in a Starbucks coffee shop. The ensuing dialog had me laughing at how they interacted with each other and has me wondering if this character will appear in further books. The second short story about Samantha Moon is an alternate ending to a previous book called "Vampire Moon" which gives us an idea of how an author has to decide which course a novel will take in the end. There are also three other short stories that were very entertaining and fun to read. The last story is one written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle entitled "His Last Bow" which brought back good memories of watching old black and white Sherlock Holmes movies featuring Basil Rathbone with my father. In all, I found this a fantastic collection of stories to pass the time and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a Samantha Moon follower or to someone who is looking for a fun read to help pass the time.

This was an example of my favorite quirky Sam behavior. It’s what makes her a favorite character of mine that she can be killing people in a previous story and then taking her kid for Starbucks in this one. When she can no longer ignore her suspicions, she confronts a Starbucks regular who she feels like she knows from somewhere. The questions don’t really ever get answered, but I really enjoyed the playful banter and the endless opportunities for interpretation. I’m a big fan of the Sam’s snark and I hope we see more of this in the next book in the series.

2 Stars Blue Moon is an urban fantasy by J.R. Rain and a short story in his Vampire for Hire series.

Hmm, this quirky short story is nothing more than a brief encounter between the author himself and his fictional character, Samantha Moon, when she hits up the local Starbucks with her daughter, Tammy, who's recently developed a penchant for coffee.

A well written, super short story, Blue Moon is so short, I daresay it’s more of a snippet than a short story. Glad it was a freebie!

Another of the fun short stories always found in between the major Vampire for Hire novels.

Blue Moon was a treat! Rain inserts himself into Sam's world in, Philip K. Dick, fashion.
Vampire vs. Bigfoot is a gruesome and funny.
The Bull is an origins story for a super(ish) hero.
The Prophetic Heart... Figure that one out on your own.
The Vampire Dawn outtakes were fun. Just because it hits the cutting room floor doesn't mean it isn't worth a read.
I love these little treats between novels!

Blue moon was very enjoyable. Even though it was short, these short stories keep me sated until the next book comes out. It was a very cute story that made me smile. A very different take on a short story. The other stories were good reads as well. I loved Vampire vs Bigfoot. Very different take on anything like this. The Bull was also very creative. I definetly recomend it. If you havent read the Samantha Moon series, pick it up. You won't regret it.

Another quick read from J.R. Rain. The Samantha Moon story, Blue Moon, is Ok. It seems to be just filler for the series or a possible lead in to another story. We'll see.

My favorite story is Vampire vs. Bigfoot. It was a new twist on the old tale of hunting bigfoot. Only this time, there's a twist. Enjoy!

ok... so...

I just paid to read J.R. Rain's idea of what it would be like if he and Samantha Moon met each other in a Starbucks.

With some completely random filler text thrown in afterwards to pad the page count and make it look like we are purchasing an actual story instead of a daydream. /sigh

I enjoyed this collection of shorts. Quite a few stories that really get you thinking. The omitted section from 'Vampire Dawn', book five in this series, was creative and I understand the reasoning behind leaving it out. Overall, a good collection of short stories.

Vacuous, self-aggrandizing, incredibly short, story about the author meeting Samantha Moon at Starbucks. Absolutely nothing happens. And then a few other short stories are tacked on the end to pad the page count.

Book of short stories...

Why JR stuck the Samantha Moon label on these I don't know. My fault, I guess for thinking it was a novel. Most of the stories were not interesting.
