FINALLY, in a long ahh time they finally wrote a hero who is a hardass and a pushover-protective alpha.
🟥SPOILERS-🟥 Virgin h Virgin H (yaaaass) He is locked up in a mental asylum where the h gets a job as a night-duty nurse. Smut- 15/10. Lord save me because he has been locked up since he was 18, so he has a lot of pent ...you know..... 👀 This is ONE of the dirties book by AR. No-cheating. No OW drama. OM drama. Safe, no-cheating. Mention of domestic and sexual abuse by Hero's father.
TROPES: -hero is a patient in an asylum for 10 years (since 18) -nurse/patient -instalove/obsession -dual virgins
Jamison is a patient in an asylum and he has a thing for the new night shift nurse, Mia. They do dark and dirty things!! There’s a touch of CNC/dubcon, which I loved. This was a good read!
SAFETY: dual virgins no OM/slight OM but he’s dealt with no cheating/sharing triggers: past physical and sexual abuse from hero’s father, murder, dubcon kinks: dubcon, CNC, rough sex, BDSM, risk of getting caught HEA
| not-so review review instead welcome to a yapping sesh.
My favorite microtrope is Dual Virgins however despite this, This year, whenever I read a book that has the microtrope and I really don't like the story, the writing, etc, I won't really put it nor consider them in my GR shelf and even on my personal reading list.
I've been here on GR for quite some years now, and at the beginning, I love everything Dual V. Like as long as it is one, I'd freaking read it, even though I often get unsatisfied at the end. It was bc, I told myself, why would I be choosy, the microtrope might be around but it is not really THAT usual {still} like the stereotypical tropes
Whenever I go through my GR shelves and browse, I still get surprised and kinda disappointed how the amount of books there in my dual v, or v H shelves were not a lot, and were not really matching the amount of dual v books I've ever read.
Before, huge portion of my positive reviews were influenced by the fact that they have the both v microtrope, and when I think about it, If that aspect wasn't included on some of those books, they'd never really work out for me lol. Like, yk. It was sort of a game changer for me. A consolation almost lol.
At this point of my life, There were a lot of books with BV that I've read but admittedly based on my experience it is kinda hard to find satisfactory ones, like really good reads yk.
It is still rare to find a really good book that would be up on your favorite reading list in accordance with your favorite microtrope and shii.
And yes, this has that element, unfortunately, like a lot of dual v books, this one did not really work for me, either.
There is something about some authors that wrote in a very formulaic way that was able to execute them very well, and some just do not work out.
I really hated how I get much pickier with the books I've read as the time went by. I mean ig as what others says Different strokes for different folks ykwim.

H 28/h 20s Dual 1st person POV No cheating or sharing No real ow/om drama Dual virgins (I’m pretty sure) Very spicy Violence and Death Mentions of domestic abuse and SA (H’s father) Epilogue (7 yrs later) HEA
I absolutely loved this story! It was crazy and broke every rule and was spicy AF. I can’t wait for more from this world and Alexa Riley! This story was seriously one that I couldn’t put down!

The bad man de Alexa Riley
Argumento:
FMC: Mia MMC: Jamison Tropes: morally grey, nurse/patient, mental health institution Spice Rating: 3 Series: No POV: Dual Cliffhanger: No
I’ve enjoyed many books by this author duo. The idea is there but the execution could have been better. It was entertaining. It did push some boundaries with the whole patient/nurse piece that some readers might not enjoy. There are a lot of questions left unanswered. The reader doesn’t learn much about the characters, specifically the FMC, which for the most part is typical with an AR read. I definitely think with more detail, it could have been a four or five star book for sure. I did just see there is another book related to this one with a doctor that was mentioned. I do plan on giving that one a try as I hope to learn more about his story and involvement.
This was really good, I enjoyed it very much. Mia starts working at an asylum and there she meets an inmate named Jamison. Jamison has been locked up in there since he was a young man and Mia makes him feel things he's never felt before. I liked their chemistry and how they interacted with each other. Jamison was always calm but Mia made him murderous. There were lots of other things happening in the background, like the man running the place, the orderly taking his orders and the fact that no one knows why Jamison has been in the asylum for so long. Mia just wanted to help people and her finding herself at the asylum, she was able to help and change Jamison's life. I liked the fact that they were both virgins but Jamison did some not so virginal things to her. Overall it was a good story.
I saw some reviews saying this had a virgin hero trope, but I'm not so sure about that. It was never confirmed, it was just mentioned that he was in the asylum since he was 18 and he never acted inappropriately with staff before the heroine, and one nurse made a comment how the heroine was probably his first kiss, but the hero never confirmed it. And I also disliked how she seemed to be the one pursuing him. He was definitely into her, but it felt like she was chasing him and I'm not a fan of that.
meh. the heroine had no personality. she worked hard to get a degree in nursing and then she decided within two minutes to throw it all away in order to pursue a sexual relationship with a patient at a mental health institution. that, and her having no family, is all we know about her. there was no depth or nuance to her as a character. the hero was flat as a character, too. idk why the two of them fell in love.

OMG! After such a long time, I am loving Alexa Riley's book. I always like books by this author but the previous series of the fairytale was missing something. This was a bang-on.
Simple story with a dark touch. Not overwhelming but interesting. I would have loved to see the villains suffer more, but hey, what more can you do than kill them?
-virgin heroine, I think he was also a virgin -no ow drama -dual POV -unwanted attention from om -insta love/lust -OTT possessive jealous alpha hero (he was a bit rough, I liked him) -no separation -likeable heroine -no cheating or scenes with OP -epilogue: 7 years later -married with at least 2 kids
3.5 Stars Man, I miss reading this kind of dirty story. I need to get back to more AR, because there really isn't a whole lot out there like it. They are too short for my preference, but this one felt longer due to the depth of the characters and story. I had a few unanswered questions, and the ending felt a bit rushed, but otherwise, it was exactly what I wanted right now.
Hurts to give AR less than a 3 star but I did not enjoy reading this one. Felt like it was not written by them- Maybe because it was a setting that is pretty new for an AR novella? I don't know but the story and MCs rubbed me the wrong way. Usually AR's H are powerful and here that is not the case as he is a patient/prisoner and I felt he was too beta-ish. The h also was not very relatable...
Jamison is locked away in an asylum and no one knows why. Along comes new nurse Mia, who awakens Jamison on level no one has witnessed.
This book was a good quicky that gave you so much that you knew this was a full length novel but sadly isn't. If you're looking for a great quicky I suggest you check this out. Happy reading! 🙋🏽♀️
“Do you think for one second that I’d care about another living soul other than you.” ✨
I really enjoyed this book. The tension, the angst, the sexual attraction between Jamison, a man that had been locked up in a mental institution by his father for 10 years, and the new nurse, Mia. Highly recommended
