Mail Order Marshall

Rate this book
A young girl has inherited her parents successful horse ranch after they are killed in a stagecoach accident but she needs to marry to keep it; she reluctantly sends for a mail order husband.
A young Ranger, who is about to retire, wants his own ranch but doesn't want marriage. When he is unexpectedly offered part ownership in a ranch if he agrees to a marriage; it is an offer he just can't refuse.
Will these two come to an agreement they can live with?
Will he find who is threatening the ranch and his new wife's life?

Please this book is a work of fiction and for the sake of the story I have stated that a single girl in Texas in the 1800s was unable to own property. This is however untrue, a single girl could own property but it became her husband's once she married.

I was born in Manly on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia and grew up in the west after we moved there to help my brother’s eczema which was made worse by salt air. I now reside in the beautiful sunny state of Queensland.

My dad had the biggest impact on my life. I have always had an overactive imagination and would often tell him stories which floated in my mind. He encouraged me to put pen to paper convinced that one day they would become published books.

Apart from marrying the love of my life, the highlight of my life was being accepted into Nursing just before my 16th birthday. It had been a long-time dream and one which encompassed 37 years of my life. Along with nursing, being married to a Naval Officer for almost 47 years, and posted in numerous places, gave me experiences which I have written into many of my books.

We enjoy traveling the country with our Caravan/RV, and Jack Russell puppy by the name of Gemma who will be joining us.

As my parents were British, never Australian citizens, I hold dual citizenship and we plan to take advantage of this to spend two years traveling the UK and Europe in the near future. It will also give me the opportunity to catch up with many family members who reside in England.

My books are in various genres - Western Historical Romance-both steamy and sweet, Contemporary Romance-steamy and sweet, Male/Male, Australian Outback and City Romance. I also have one menage and one paranormal romance along with two children's books. As I said earlier, I have a rather overactive imagination.

I hope you will pick up one of my books and when you close the cover on one of my stories it will be with a satisfied sigh.

Pretty original and entertaining
Susan Horsnell delivers a pretty original and entertaining western romance. I liked the way the story was woven. The different characters helped create the right atmosphere for the mystery to unravel nicely. I loved the plot of this story, I thought it was original, a different approach to the classic mail order bride theme. I really liked Claire and Pete, they are both strong characters who have been hurt and betrayed by people they loved and events that happened in their past. These events have marked their lives and influence the decisions they both have made to carry on a certain path in life, hence the certainty not to marry and have a family. Circumstance brings them together into a marriage of convenience marking the beginning of a beautiful romance. There are some mild sexy scenes, noting too descriptive this story is more on the sweet side of romance. I would have like it to be a bit larger so we could get to know more about some of the supporting characters but overall, a well-balanced tale full of action and romance.

I really enjoyed this sweet western romance. It took me back in time to the late 1800s.
Claire the independent rancher's daughter inherits her fathers ranch and needs a husband in order to keep her property. A marriage of convenience to Peter, a young Ranger who wants a ranch but not a wife is the perfect solution. Someone wants Claire dead and wreaks havoc on the property. The mystery and ensuing action kept me glued to this book. The chemistry between Claire and Pete slowly simmered until they both realised they had fallen in love....I do love a HEA.
The story was well paced and easy to read and the characters likeable. This author always sets the scene so well that one can envision the countryside in that era.
If you love a good western romance then I highly recommend this book.

I loved every bit of this light western story.

Set in 1870, Claire runs and works on a ranch inherited after her parents demise. She finds that the law insists she marry to be able to continue to keep the ranch. Enter Peter, a Ranger ready to retire.

Mail Order Ranger is an old fashioned easy to read, feel good book. It is a breathe of fresh air after reading some deep and dark books. Intrigue and suspense keeps the reader guessing throughout the story.
