What did I just read? As the book says, it's garbage. However, this is glorious trash for me, the kind that deserves a golden garbage can. It was a funny story; nothing more disgusting than living snot. Trust me, there is a coherent story in here, but you'll be distracted by all the humor. I think making a collaborative novel with some of the best names in Indie horror was an excellent idea.
I just love how a different author writes every chapter and you go in blindly expecting something out of the blue. I found myself laughing at the little zingers being thrown between the authors. If you're careful, you'll find them. I just had fun reading this one. It's a lighthearted attempt at a horror story that makes you laugh.
It won't overtake Stephen King, but to be fair that wasn't what this book was trying. It was trying to make me laugh and it did. Bravo!
I'm going to preface this review by saying how excited I was to see this was a collaborative novel! I ran Literary Society my last two years of high school, and we did exquisite corpses; it was so much fun, and this has made me realize how much I miss being part of something like that.
I debated on how to write my review, and I finally settled on this: s'not my usual review style, but s'not your usual type of book! So enjoy my observations from this wild, unhinged ride!
Mike Salt and MJ Mars win the award for actually managing to gross me out. The sheer amount of hawk tuahing "thick, green, chunky globs" of snot in people's mouths in Mike Salt's chapter; sir, those actions should be outlawed! I'm still green just thinking about it. And MJ, thanks for the "festering and oozing" case of trypophobia I now have. This episode of Gee, Will I Fit There? with special guest, Dangly Knob Worms, has taught me some very important lessons...
Edmund and Jay must be auditioning for new episodes of Sex Sent Me to the ER: Questionable Insertions While on the Toilet and It's Coming Out WHERE??? And, Andrew, the absolute heinous amount of snot produced in your chapter....someone best put me out of my misery if I ever come close to producing that.
In conclusion, Christopher is an absolute delight and Jyl wins for best song reference (who doesn't love a hearty rendition of Let the Bodies Hit the Floor?) and movie reference (sorry, Ben, as good as Married...With Children is, it can't beat Die Hard).
This book is an absolute must read! I had the time of my life reading it, and I SURVIVED THE NETIPOCALYPSE!!! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go deep clean my crockpot, pour one out for Derek (a true Chad among men), and purchase a lifetime supply of hazmat suits and industrial grade sanitizing spray.
Snotpocalypse, ahoy! The power of Clorox repels you!
This is a collaborative horror novel, meaning each of the twenty-five chapters is written by a different author.
Man, what a disappointment. I mean, it's a huge disappointment. I give it one star because it's written in American-English, the only language books should be written. I mean, I thought these people could write?
The editing is superb though, so that's another star.
So OK, it's a two-star book. If it had any sex or gore, I might go higher - ah, wait, there's that Edmund Stone chapter with the sister of patient zero taking that neti pot and putting it into her... OK, 2.5 stars. And MJ Mars has some graphic necrophilia, with that man inserting himself into the dead guy's pee hole... And Jay Bower gets that woman to rip that guy's penis off and... Yeah, OK, 3 stars.
So it's a 3-star book. If one of my favorite authors, Angel Van Atta, had a chapter, I'd certainly go higher! Wait - she does? And there's a little girl in her chapter? Oh, it's that poor girl that appears in Rhonda Bobbitt's chapter. OK then, this deserves four stars.
But that's it. It's not like a literary book, it's not like it has metafiction, right? Ah, dammit. Christopher Hawkins talks about the book itself, calling it an abomination. And Gage Greenwood has Kevin Bacon meeting his agent Durgin Stockton!
So this may not be total garbage. What? Heather Ann Larson in her afterword says it IS trash? And glorious garbage too?
Okay so when I saw this book and all the amazing authors it contained, I assumed it was an anthology. (I go into books blind lol). So I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a collaborative novel where all the authors took different chapters and created absolute unhinged chaos in the best way possible!!!
I really have no idea how to review this like I normally would because it’s really something I’ve never come across… that being said, it was brilliantly done.
I laughed until it hurt. I cringed. I gagged and dry heaved. And if I never see the word snot again, I’ll be totally okay with that. 😂
Just found out that the ebook is live on the Zon so I implore everyone to get their hands on this and read it asap. It’s a super fun book that has something for literally everyone!!
I just finished the Books & Brews exclusive, Netipotcalypse. I had never read a collaborative novel before, but I was fascinated by the idea of it and because it was filled with Books of Horror authors, I quickly preordered. I had no idea what to expect. I was given the impression that this was going to be a wild ride. You have no idea: the amount of times I gagged, laughed out loud, or was left wondering WTF is astounding. I did appreciate that a few of the authors picked on each other throughout this book. It’s like being on the inside of a joke that only Books of Horror fans will get. I hope a collaborative novel continues with each future Books & Brews event.
Netipot-calpse by a bunch of snotty authors taught me exactly what I needed to know. There were so many lessons in this tiny book, that I found it well worth my hard earned bucks. I shall now carry a plushie in my "go bag", embrace the fact that most things disappoint me (this may save my life), and my favorite to teach to the men in my life "never put your pecker in a wasp nest". I guess the only thing I can tell you dinguses is this thing is gonna go...places. It's snot bad. It's snot good. Spread.
If you didn’t know this was a collaboration novel you would never know it was. All of the authors blended together so well it was like you were reading a book written by one writer. This story is haywire and insane! I gagged and I laughed out loud. It would be awesome if this was made into a movie by Troma! The whole time I was reading this I kept thinking that. I just think they would do phenomenal with the source material. If you’re looking for a great time and maybe you enjoy gagging, I don’t know. I’m not judging, this is a great read!
Looking for a break from the norm? Netipotcalypse is your ticket! This collaborative novel is a hilarious ride filled with absurdity and grotesque humor. Jyl Glenn and her co-authors let their imaginations run wild, delivering a relentlessly funny experience that will leave you in stitches. Don't miss out on this epically disgusting adventure!
This is an absolutely disgusting, yet great time. If you can make it past chapter 4, it gets a little less gross, but a whole lot more insane. My first collaborative novel, and it’s hard to imagine a better one. But be ready for the craziness the authors brought. What a good time for a great benefit!
This was really good. There was horror, laughs, "wtf am I reading", Kevin freaking Bacon. It was so cool to see all of these minds mesh together to make a story. It was so much fun. So many authors I've never read before but plan on adding into my TBR.
What a Chaotic read this was, I specifically loved how each author added their own insanity to continue this one hell of a story. It was funny, it was nasty, it was absurd and it was an excellent read.
Thank you to all that created this collaboration 💜
It's definitely a wild ride in a great way. This is a bizzaro story, a life of mucus, and all it effected. There are plenty of laughs. I enjoyed this story.

Well, I knew going in this book would be fantastic with all the amazing authors who contributed. But the way that each chapter by each author flowed together was one of the coolest reading experiences l've had. You really got to see everyone's style but also enjoy an amazing crazy story. I will never look at a Netipot the same!
Uhm.... This was...interesting! Gross and disgusting but definitely something going on in there. I liked the way each author blended their own style and ideas into the mix to form a bigger picture, maybe bigger than actually revealed into the book.
