Twelve years ago, Lincoln Elliott made a rash decision that wiped out his family’s business—and turned Elliott Ridge into a ghost town. Now he’s back from serving with the US Special Forces, and he’s ready—with the help of his four brothers—to bring the Ridge back to life. They’ve got the family lumber company up and running again, but a town needs people—specifically women. So when Lincoln meets Charlotte Holmes at the Chance Creek airport, he’s desperate to get her to settle down—not just because he’s trying to build up their community, but because he wants to know if the instant attraction between them can turn into something more. He offers to sell her his house for a dollar—and help renovate it, too. He’ll work night and day if that’s what it takes to earn Charlotte’s love. If only she’d tell him what she’s so afraid of.
Charlotte Holmes thought she’d won the jackpot when wealthy racehorse owner, Ivan Gasperyn, paid her way through veterinary school, but her dream position working at his stables soon turned into a nightmare. She’s finally escaped from Ivan’s iron control, so when Lincoln offers her a home in the remote ghost town he’s bringing back to life, she says yes. Life on Elliott Ridge turns out to be everything she always wanted and Lincoln is the kind of man she’s always wanted to meet. Can she let her guard down long enough to fall in love with him?
Lincoln knows he’s found the woman he wants to spend his life with, but when a stranger shows up looking for a stolen horse, it’s clear that Charlotte is in trouble.

I loved Lincoln and Charlotte’s love story and the hopeful premise of the town of Elliot Ridge. It had the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, and spice with two intense, strong and passionate characters. Lincoln and his four brothers recently moved back to Elliot Ridge to try to revive the company town owned by their family. They have a year to do so before they’ll lose the land. Charlotte, a veterinarian for racehorses, runs from her life and controlling ex-boyfriend and randomly flies into Chance Creek, Montana. Lincoln is in the Chance Creek airport dropping off his parents after his brother’s wedding and from the moment Lincoln looks into her eyes, he is sure Charlotte is meant to be his wife. So he impulsively offers her a house for $1 if she moves to Elliot Ridge. Thus begins the fast paced, chaotic, slightly dangerous, and swoony journey to their HEA. The story included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline as shown through sweet moments, strong family bonds, spicy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous moments, uber protective men, painful pasts, evil actors, and so much love. There were a lot of new secondary characters introduced in this book but rather than detracting from the main story, they helped the plot move along. Plus, it was fun to see a few characters from previous Chance Creek series make appearances in this book as well. I cannot wait to see what is next for the rest of the Elliott family and the town of Elliot Ridge. 4.5 stars.
Cora Seton is one of my absolute favorite authors, and it's books like this that are the reason! Not only is this book captivating, it'll warm your heart. With just the right amount of intrigue, the perfect pace with characters you will love with their own stories to tell, you won't be able to resist falling in love with Elliott Ridge and its' inhabitants! Lincoln has been carrying a pretty heavy burden on his shoulders for over a decade, blaming himself for the demise of the family business so many years ago. Will he ever be able to forgive himself? With all the pressures of getting the mill back up and running, he, along with his brothers, are also feeling the need to fill the houses of their "ghost town". With his parents pushing for them all to settle down, and the tales of the family "curse" so to speak, Lincoln is not prepared for his reaction when he sees Charlotte from across the airport while dropping his folks off to catch their flight back to their current home. The intense reaction pushes him to approach her, offering her a place to stay, and he hopes it'll be forever. Charlotte is on the run, fearing for her life. Is she prepared to put her trust in a stranger? But the bigger question is, can she afford not to! Will she be safe in the remote town of Elliott Ridge? Will these two ever be able to let down their barriers long enough to let love in? An absolute charm to read, my only complaint would be that book number 3 in the series isn't already here! I was gifted a copy of this book and am more than happy to provide my honest opinion.
When Lincoln spotted Charlotte at the airport it was love at first sight. He would do anything to persuade her to stay even selling her his house in Elliott Ridge for a dollar. Charlotte comes with her own complications. Escaping from a toxic controlling relationship she’s landed in Chance Creek to hopefully start her new life. She never factored Lincoln or Elliott Ridge into the equation and quickly realises they’re both the new life she didn’t realise she could have, but can she keep it? Not only is her ex still trying to control her via email and discover where she is, newcomers to Elliott Ridge will disrupt her new peaceful life. Will she be able to remain in the shadows or will the new chaos expose her to the very danger she escaped from? It’s a warm but chaotic welcome return to Elliott Ridge. The story lulls you in with a calm, peaceful blossoming relationship between Lincoln and Charlotte as she begins to feel fairly secure in her new life. However it soon descends to chaos and mayhem when the newcomers move into the Ridge. I much prefer the peace and quiet. This story has plenty of drama, lots of chaos a bit of danger and the Elliott brothers – who will do anything to protect what’s theirs. A perfect combination and a good read.
This is the second book in the Elliot ridge series and while technically it could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first one just to fully appreciate the characters and storyline. This installment features Lincoln who for years has blamed himself for the demise of the family lumbermill. So, his efforts to rebuild the town and succeed where he failed before is his biggest priority. That is until he meets Charlotte. Charlotte is also looking for a new start in life after a bad relationship. But that bad relationship may not be entirely in the past. This small-town romance includes some very interesting characters that I can only imagine will make for some great future books in the series. Cora Seton certainly has a way of drawing you into the story and making you really root for the characters to get their happy ending. Having read all of her books previously, I also really like how she drops in characters from other series so you can see how they are doing. But even if you haven’t read those other stories, it still works because the updates don’t require the reader to know the past.
Charlotte decides to run away from the severely controlling situation with het boyfriend Ivan while she is attending her grandmother's funeral. She ends up hiding out in Montana where she meets Lincoln. But will Ivan ever let her go? She is loving her new life at Elliott Ridge, but worries about the lengths Ivan will go to in order to get her back. Can Lincoln and his brothers keep her safe?
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vibrant and engaging. Read this series in order, but there are 6 other series set in Chance Creek. This is the order I think they go in: 1 Cowboys of Chance Creek, 2 Heroes of Chance Creek, 3 SEALS of Chance Creek, 4 Brides of Chance Creek, 5 Turners Vs Coopers, then 6 Elliott's of Chance Creek with 7 Holidays at Chance Creek being produced at the same time (#1 was published before this story). So I you like these 2 stories, go back and read them all! All have some action, many have former military men, and all revisit many former main characters! Enjoy!
Wow! It's been a while since we were transported back to Chance Creek. This story is about Lincoln and Charlotte. It begins with us being with Charlotte at her grandma's funeral. Her lawyer told her that her chance to escape her ex was now. He told her to travel to different places before she settled down in one spot. For Lincoln, it was love at first sight but it took Charlotte a little bit longer because of her ex. Towards the end, just when you think things were going to finally come together, trouble hits big time. Charlotte's ex found her. Luckily, the Elliott brothers banded together to get rid of the trash. It's unfortunate they lost their parents house. Once the trouble finally passed, these two finally got their happy ending. FANTASTIC job Cora! I would recommend this book.
House for Sale Soldier Included by C. Seton is the second book in the Elliotts of Chance Creek Series. For best reading experience I recommend to read the books in order. Lincoln Elliott is back home in Elliott Ridge. After 12 years in the military, he's back to bring back life to the gost town Elliott Ridge. He and his 4 brothers want to get the lumber company running, bring back citicens, shops, restaurants. He meets Charlotte and is instantly smitten with her. Charlotte is on the run from a bad man and Lincoln's proposal is just perfect. He convinces her to help build a new life. A beautiful, sweet story, excellent written, suspenseful, with characters so seay to connect with. A fantastic read.
House for Sale Soldier included is book 2 in the Elliotts of Chance Creek by Cora Seton and a great addition.
Up next is Lincoln and Charlotte’s story along with an underlying tale of how the Elliott men fall in love at first sight. As the Elliott brothers work to bring the town and lumber company back to life, but they need people to move into town to set up businesses, especially women. Charlotte is looking to begin again after a bad relationship ends and lands in Chance Creek…what happens next is suspenseful, drama, guilt, chemistry and more…welcome back to Chance Creek!
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Charlotte has an ex she is running from and Lincoln and his brothers feel guilt for leaving the Ridge years ago. When Lincoln meets Charlotte at the airport after seeing his parents off it is love at first site. Now he just needs to get her to go to the Ridge instead of Chance Creek. Elliott Ridge is slowly growing with the mill opening back up and a few people moving in slowly but surely. Boy do we get some interesting people moving to the Ridge, that you will not want to miss! Yes, love is in the air on the Ridge!! Then the guy that wouldn't take no for an answer shows up! Thank you Cora for bringing us back home!
Book 2 at chance creek. Charlotte , a veterinarian, is running away from an abusive psychotic ex boyfriend and finds herself landing in chance creek. Lincoln is trying to resurrect his family’s logging business and isn’t looking for love. But one look at Charlotte at the airport when he drops his parents off, he knows he’s looking at his future. I loved this story. Always nice to revisit old characters from stories past. Looking forward to future chance creek stories.
A fabulous, sexy love at first sight love story that will have you on the edge of your seat!! I love this series and love Charlotte and Lincoln together!! Follow their journey to HEA and the suspenseful way the past tries to pull them apart!! Can't wait for the next brother to fall in love!! Grab this series and enjoy this author's book in Elliott Ridge and enjoy returning to past character in Chance Creek!!
I loved this book. You feel for what Charlotte went through in her previous relationship. Her ex was a master manipulator. Lincoln was fighting his own demons as well while trying to resuscitate the town. They are perfect together. This was a wonderful book. Both books in this series are fantastic. I can’t wait for book 3!!!! Cora Seton is one of my favorite authors. She always delivers a top notch book with all the feels.
I've waited for this book for awhile, and it was so worth the wait! This book introduces Charlotte, and focuses on Lincoln Elliott. It has love at first site, action and suspense, and introduces many new characters to Elliott Ridge. I absolutely loved it! And, of course, it revisited some much loved characters from Chance Creek. I can hardly wait for the next book!
book2 Charlotte lands in Chance Creek where she meets Lincoln
Charlotte needed to leave Saratoga and found Chance Creek where she could start over as a horse vet. But once in Chance Creek airport she met Amanda and Lincoln Elliot. Will she stay or move on, she reminds herself she on the run, but Lincoln is attractive and Elliot Ridge is starting over can she start over here too? I love the story, the series and anticipating book 3… will it be Gage, Hudson, or Nate’s story?
The Elliott family tradition strikes again as Lincoln meets Charlotte and he knows that she’s the one’. On the run & hiding from an abusive & controlling boyfriend, she falls for both Elliott Ridge and Lincoln. How their relationship develops, how they deal with their past and present issues, & how they deal with an influx of new people, is an engrossing & entertaining read. Highly recommended
Charlotte just wants to escape the darkness she's been trapped in. Chance Creek seems just the place. And happy happenstance takes her just where she needs to be. She makes a few missteps along the way. But fortunately meeting Lincoln Elliot and his formidable brothers, their family, friends and new community she finds home.
Likeable characters and a satisfying story. I liked most of it, but I have lost my taste for anything resembling suspense in my romance. I am glad that the tense moments didn’t drag on too long. I’m also glad that we got a decent amount of story after the proposal so we could enjoy some of the happy part of the happy ever after.
House For Sale Soldier Included: WOW! Another great addition to the series! Its great the brothers are trying to get there old community back to the way it was when they were younger! Even though some of the brother are concerned that it won't work. It was was a wonderful story!
I received an ARC of this book for a fair review. It’s good to be back in Elliot’s Ridge! Charlotte and Lincoln’s story brings a whole new cast of characters that definitely make for lots of fun and excitement. The chemistry between them creates a story that’s hard to put down.
Wow! I so enjoyed this one?! Seems like I haven’t read a book from Ms Seton in SO long! After starting House For Sale Soldier Included, I realized how much I miss her voice! Wonderful story… kept me reading. Can’t wait for the next installment on the Ridge!
What an inspiring family and town! I love the way the Elliots are trying to rebuild Chance Creek! Talk about enthusiasm, drama, love, family, friends and community, this story has it! Cora is an awesome storyteller!
I'm enjoying Elliot's Ridge and watching the Elliot Brothers find their partners in life. Good characters, great setting, lots of relationship issues to sort through. And a happy ending, as I require. Looking forward to the next one.
Lincoln and Charlotte fell in love at first sight but both carried secret from the past. Once the secrets were revealed to each other. Things changed and the past came back to bring danger to all but together they survived it all and love won.
If you haven't had the chance to read one of Cora Seton's books, this would be a good one to start with. I can't wait to see what happens with the remaining three brothers, and the little town they are trying to revive.
I forgot how nice it was to read Cora's books, to catch up with some of the people from Chance Creek & to meet the new ones. Lincoln & Charlotte are so right for each other too!
House for Sale Soldier Included (Elliotts of Chance Creek Book 2)
Awesome book. Dennis might not be a main character, but his beginning statement was spot on. The plot twist and turned into a fantastic story of romance and intriguing moments.
Wonderful new book with hope, love and happiness. I love the little hint of drama. These books are just a great continuation in the Chance Creek world.
