Thank you to Goodreads Giveaways and to author Julie Hedenborg for providing me a Kindle copy of thirty-two nonfictional testimonials that may be grouped into individual’s near-death experiences, being cured from disease or illness without traditional medical assistance, and deliverance from the possession of evil spirits, in each case due to the intervention of God. This book has a special place in my heart as I entered the contest to win this book on Epiphany, the day after my beloved younger schnauzer died at the age of 7 due to complications from a severe illness that quickly turned fatal. This was such a devasting loss to my wife and me that I was looking for solace and inspiration in my faith, which I hoped to find in this book. Because of the memory of my lost pup will forever be associated with this book, I waited until last week to read it due to the proximity of Advent and almost a year has passed since my pup’s death.
The author was a nurse anesthetist who worked in vascular intensive care so she had heard and witnessed several accounts of near-death experiences or miraculous recoveries that were not easily explained by doctors. At the beginning of the book, Hedenborg shared her own experiences, which eventually led her to leave nursing to start a podcast focusing on testimonials to God’s miracles. Subsequent to Hedenborg’s account of her personal journey, she shared over thirty stories of others with near-death experiences, miraculous healings, or being delivered from unclean spirits. Each chapter is devoted to one testimonial and is structured in the same manner. There is a biblical verse, the author’s short thoughts on the person providing the testimonial, the testimonial, further reflections that seek to provide broader context to the testimonial by often referencing scriptures, and a prayer that the reader may say or reflect upon that is related to the testimonial. The individuals providing the testimonials are different ages, ethnicities, genders, from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds, and differ widely in their religious faith prior to God’s intervention. After the intervention, the individuals universally had a more positive outlook on life and wanted to share their supernatural experiences with others. Though each chapter is well organized, the author may have been better suited to group like testimonials in sequence so individuals with similar experiences are together. The organization of the book is much better suited for readers who want to read one testimonial a day and reflect thereon during a time like Advent or Lent. If a reader wants to read the book straight through, it may feel a bit disjointed in overall organization.
The themes of this book are uplifting and encourage readers to focus more on learning and following the word of God in both thoughts and actions. Perseverance, the power of prayer, faith, the need to forgive and ask for forgiveness, overcoming hardship, the importance of family and community, and the need to love God and others are explored through the testimonials. The brevity and organization of each chapter make this an easy and inspirational read. As noted in this book and in sum, the true measure of a life well lived is love, forgiveness, and a spiritual connection with God.

This is a life-changer. This collection of stories starts off with Julie's personal story of God's love and intervention in her life to save her. If it isn't enough to encourage you to hit your knees and surrender, each chapter brings another miracle and story of an encounter with God and experience in the supernatural which will open your eyes to the power of God. This collection of short stories represents how God works in individual lives, motivated by His unfailing love for us. You will not be able to wait to start the next chapter to experience another miracle! Each of us are special and have a plan and a purpose in God's plan, and He will go to extreme lengths to get our attention. Need a gift or a way to share with a friend of family member who isn't quite sure about God? This is it.

If you enjoy reading about miracles then you will love reading the testimonies of people like yourself who have experienced first-hand the power of God and his love for each of us. This book is one of my favorites , relaying the actual telling by the person who experienced the miracle and the benefit in their lives from feeling God's love. The author also provides questions for the reader to consider as they look at their own lives and writes a prayer after each told miracle. I urge you to read this book!

It’s fun reading real life stories. When you can read a compilation of stories, all about miracles happening, the book becomes a fast page turner. Though I wanted to focus and reflect on the depth of each story, I was also eager to gobble it all down. I could not get enough of it fast enough. For anyone questioning the power of prayer, this book will set you straight. Eye opening in so many ways. A great read that went way too quickly!

Wonderful book!
Julie Hedenborg did a great job on this book! I read all of it. Each of us is given a life. At 86, I am almost at the end of my life. My husband of 66 years just left here last month. Tomorrow would be 67 years. May I continue to live God’s way. Jeanette Stracner
