i picked this up at the new york art book fair because i was was interested in how research methods and process are different for artists, and what the best practices / norms are. this was interesting! i really enjoyed seeing the student projects, and enjoyed the emphasis on making, and idea of sharing to public as part of research.
This book is super useful if you are struggling with or exploring new frontiers of design or arts research. It reframes research as a creative practice in itself, with its own practices, artifacts, and outputs. This has helped me overcome some of my mental blocks against research in sociological contexts. It is very practical and gives you a menu of options at every stage, which is actionable and inspirational. And the projects featured are often intriguing.
