128 pgs. This is a gorgeous book! Kids will love reading and learning about African animals. The basic organization of this book is excellent, with kinds of animals, not just animal families. A reader can get a bigger picture of how all of the different animal groups work together in the wild environment to share the planet and continue life. There are predators (hunters) and the clean-up crew, among others. The photos are outstanding and will capture a kid's attention right away. The fact boxes are laid out in an organized but interesting way to provide additional information. There is a very helpful, two-page, color-coded map of Africa that shows the regions in which the animals live, along with a list for each color/region. I learned so much reading this book. I am definitely going to buy the other books in this series. It is an absolute treasure. Highly recommended for Grades 3-5.

The facts were presented in an interesting manner, short interactive kid centered activity after animals and the pictures were fantastic! Enjoyable and educational...a tough combo to meet!
