Stalked at Rescue Ridge by Barb Han
Rescue Ridge Series Book One
Kade Sturgess just lost his best friend. He tried to save him. Failed. Worse, instead of returning to the fighting, he’s heading to a place he swore never to return to Saddle Junction, Texas. His “father” died, and as the oldest, he has to go home to handle things. At least he gets to see Chloe, his baby sister. And his friend Zeke’s fiancée, the woman having Zeke’s child. The woman who also has a place in Kade’s heart.
Breanne “Bree” Kyndall needs to waddle these days; her due date is approaching, and she has to talk to Kade before he leaves town again. She has a secret that Zeke didn’t think she should share with Kade, but it’s a burden to keep it.
Things changed in a flash. Bree is kidnapped, and she fears it’s the evil man who has been on a killing spring for years. It looks like she may never get to be a mother to her baby. Or ever see Kade again.
An exciting storyline that had me turning the page to see what happened next. Looking forward to seeing this continuing family saga as the rest of the family’s stories are told, and the continuing story of the ranch they aren’t allowed to sell.

Kade doesn't "do" complicated...

Unfortunately for him life didn't get that memo and right now it's about as complicated as it could get, but no matter how complex his life is and how twisted the family ranch becomes Kade Sturgess does not give up. Kade and Bree have a massive amount of baggage to work through, not easy to do when running from a serial killer, but no matter the misunderstandings, the wrong assumptions or the fear, you cannot miss the chemistry that sizzles between them. Kade may be stubborn, but even he cannot keep his heart locked away when Bree is in danger. I really enjoyed seeing him finally accept his feelings and open his heart, he and Bree are fantastic together. I loved meeting all the Sturgess siblings, even Beau, and cannot wait to see how successful they make Rescue Ridge in future books.

Started Strong.

For the first two-thirds of this book I thought it was great, I loved the characters, I thought the storyline was interesting, and I was anxious to see how it all played out, even though I was pretty sure I knew who the bad guy was from his first scene in the book. The last third of the book was a bit of a let down. It felt rushed, the “misunderstanding” between the two main characters and the going back and forth for each of them about talking to the other kind of made my head swim. If the author had followed up on the strong start I definitely would have given this 5 stars. As it is, it’s a pretty solid 3 1/2 stars, but I rounded up because of how much I enjoyed the beginning.

Enjoyed The Story

I enjoyed this story, but was disappointed with all the discrepancies. Sheriff Carr entered Brees hospital room and even before he spoke Bree squeezed Kades hand even though she was unconscious supposedly having heard Sheriff Carrs voice. Kade took Brees handbag from her car after her abduction and later spoke to Travis stating the cops took her bag yet produced it when Bree asked for her phone. Where did the suitcase and Chloes clothes come from when Bree and Kade stayed at an unused cabin. Why didn't we get to see what was written in the letters left to the family after the reading of the Will. Many more errors in this book. Needs a thorough read through to correct the errors.

Grateful

Barb Han is a great author. “Stalked at Rescue Ridge”, is a rolling book of emotions. With excitement, suspense, treasured friendship, while finding out what really should matter in life.

The book’s characters are well defined! This provides the reader with insight into their emotionally fueled lives, and how some family members can negatively affect all they touch.

Kade and Zede were in the military when during a mission they both got shot. Kade held pressure on Zede's wounds but even when help came they could not save Zeke. Bree had spent a weekend with Kade when he was home on leave, but when she became pregnant, she knew he would never marry her. Instead Zeke had stepped up to marry her, but now he was dead. Kade returns home to Saddle Junction to heal and be there for his father's funeral and reading of the will. He struggles with knowing he survived and Zeke did not. But one night the killer finds Bree in her broken down truck and kidnaps her. Kade knows he has to find her and tell her how he feels. When Kade finds Bree, he becomes her protector. Brees knowledge of the killer leads the police to the killer. Maybe now Kade and Bree can be safe and be a family.

Sins of the past color the future

Kade returned home after his friend, Zeke, died on a SEAL mission and he was injured. His former girlfriend, Bree, drew the attention of a stalker and he vowed to protect her. Kade not only suffered survivor guilt, but was a traumatized victim of parental abuse that feared becoming a family man. A good story with a lot of suspense.
