Autumn, a survivor of an abusive relationship, finds solace in the arms of Patience, a kind-hearted single father. With her ex refusing to let go, their love becomes a dangerous game. Can Patience protect Autumn and his child from the clutches of her obsessive ex, or will their love be doomed from the start?
4.5.. The way this book had me heated the entire time is not even funny!!! I literally could not stand Lamar, and as the book progressed, he became more and more despicable. I could not stop reading this book. I was rooting for Autumn to have the love that she deserved. I can't stand when a male, thrives off of breaking a woman down, as Lamar did, like who hides behind their badge?! UGH! Thank goodness Patience was there to pour so much positivity into Autumn. Their banter was sweet, and his little crush had me squealing.
Now C. Wilson, that ending.. my nerves. I need book two. Please be mindful, this book includes graphic DV and S/A, etc.
I enjoyed this book; I just wish it had slowed down a little. It had a great pace until it suddenly felt rushed. I will probably check out the second book.
I feel like I need to see more of their actual connection. He was very tender with her which I loved, we just didnt get much of their development as an aspiring couple.
This book was so good. Everything about it rang true as fact and real life, not fiction. Domestic violence is such a hard topic to cover. The author does an amazing job of showing just how delicate a victim can be. Equally understood is the need of a man that understands just how fragile a victim is. Great book!
I gave it 4 stars because it was short. As soon as the book got good I was more then halfway through. I really love the story line and can’t wait for part 2
This book is great, if domestic violence is a trigger to you be careful or don’t read at all. Man I really thought Autumn was getting her happy ending because Patience was a great man for her. I love the way he gave her affirmation and never judged her once he put two and two together. But the cliff hanger had me yelling like I was watching football. Glad my family wasn’t home…waiting on the next book to be released I guess.
My girl my girl my girl… lawd… you did your big one with this one… for those looking at the reviews… you will get highly upset if you deal with or have dealt with domestic violence… just a heads up… other than that it’s a lovely story to start off with and I can’t wait for the next part
Trauma bonding is real and generational cycles are often inevitable. Autumn wanted her freedom to break a generational cycle and finds solace in Patience. But Lamar being the bum that he is just can’t bow out gracefully. This story brings the drama and lays the groundwork for what I’m sure will be a worthy love.
Hate is a strong word…I hate Lamar, he’s the scum of the earth…aww Autumn, I hope she can overcome everything she’s going through. Patience is a that Dude. I’m devastated because I have to wait for part 2.
Literally the first book I’ve ever read by C. Wilson and I was hooked!! When I say I’m so upset it ended on a cliffhanger and right when it was getting good. I can’t wait for book two. I will definitely be looking for other books by her.
This book brought out every emotion imaginable. Why was Lamar not arrested? Autumn is an overcomer. I just hope she makes it, so often we see women lose their lives in domestic violence situations. Can’t wait for part of in this series.
First time reading a book from this author, but it won't be the last. This book draws you in and holds on tight. Can't wait for part 2. Definitely recommend reading this book.
WTF?!? LAMAR IS REALLY A POS!!!!! I literally cried towards the ending of this book, and then when I got to the very end…WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK! Boy did this have me sitting straight up in bed and diving right into book 2. Poor Patience has been through so much, ugh 😞😣💔
This book was a wild fast paced ride. Keep that in mind. 10 chapters but I felt as through while I was immersively reading that each chapter was filled with just enough detail and not a complete overload and for me personally it kept me turning the page.
The story follows Autumn who is walking through an abusive relationship mentally, emotionally & physically. It’s a back and forth relationship but she’s to the point where she is done and taking her power back.
But there’s some difficulties with this because Lamar who is her ex is a police officer and that makes things quite complicated when squad has his back and you are left feeling like nothing will ever happen to him. But his police in command is fed up with covering for him and can only cover him so much longer.
Then we’ve got Patience Jacobs who is high attorney known for winning his cases and that is who Autumn works for. Now he’s been attracted to Autumn for at least two years but never acted on those feelings. Because he’s a single father and been in relationships and going through divorce. Patience puts his daughter before everything else since her mother is absent. Now he does have the help of his mother and takes care of her but Patience is a stand up guy all the way around.
After winning a case Autumn takes Patience out to celebrate and from that moment their connection blossoms but not without some drama along the way cue Lamar. I truly cannot say more or it’d spoil the story for you. But the way this book ended left me with my mouth open! C Wilson, how you gonna do that?! I can’t wait to get to book two!
If you are looking for a fast paced urban vibes romance filled with emotion, drama and high steaks and a cliff hanger that will leave you mind blown then Forever My Lady deserves a place on your tbr!
This was a tough read, but is sadly the reality for so many people. I was proud of Autumn for having the strength to leave an abusive relationship, but would have loved to see her be able to enjoy her singleness and healing journey before getting involved with Patience. I understand the quick nature of their relationship was likely due to the length of the book, because I feel like if it were a longer length novel, it would have allowed more time to showcase her healing journey. I also would have liked to see the beast be unleashed in Patience since it was mentioned often that he was a reformed hood 🥷🤣. He was soft with her though so I loved that for her. Also it didn’t take away from the story but I was randomly bothered that as a lawyer, when Patience saw that she had been beaten up and her clothes ripped, he didn’t think 🤔 maybe I should call the police first. But instead he ran her a bath and cleaned up her blood. Like does nobody watch SVU? I mean it worked out in the end but I rolled my eyes at that part.

This started off cool and was even moving on past the grammar mistakes but by the end I was over it. Most likely because i’m an overthinker and someone who prefers accuracy. You just can convince me that even though he’s a divorce attorney that he doesn’t know that she shouldn’t have bathed before going to the hospital. Most likely won’t read book 2. 🤷🏾♀️
The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:
I know he’s a divorce attorney but come on now why wouldn’t you at least ask to take her to the hospital. He might not have known she got raped but still. Having her take a bath?? Idk maybe it’s my years of Law & Order SVU. 🤷🏾♀️
🙄🙄🙄 i’m literally 86% done so i’m going to go ahead and finish this book but WTF! You bath and then say you’re going to go to the hospital to get a rape kit done??? Make that make sense. Like she’s a secretary and he’s a divorce lawyer but I know damn well he’s came across a case where rape was involved. Or one of his colleagues. Hell even in college. Let me hurry and finish this.

Autumn was in love with her college sweetheart Lamar. When they were together it was all good, but it was bad it went from sugar to ish. Patience was crushing on Autumn for two years. She suggested that they go get drinks to celebrate his win in court. When she explained the situation with her ex. He was ready to risk it all for Autumn. Even his mama and daughter fell in love with her. Parker's mama is a piece of trash. Matthew is another piece of trash trying to have his cake and eat too. Talking about Armani could be his side chick. Lamar is tormenting Autumn every chance he got. But what he didn't expect for Patience to be there ever step of the way. He took too far, she took it to the deepest of hell. She said that she is tried of being a punching bag. Lamar tried to them all out. She deserves a happy ending with Patience
I feel like Autumn and Patience’s relationship could have take a little time to blossom before he was just call her his. It felt like a few chapters were missing after he ran into her at the tire shop and then she was inviting him out to eat and then over for dinner to now he’s saving her from an abusive ex. She was just his nervous employee at work and I feel like letting it simmer a little longer would have been more believable. And I’m not one to try and find plot holes by any means. It just felt rushed. But, I’m reading the next book in the series because I do want to see what more happens.
After suffering through two books that didn’t click for me, I found a novella that’s brilliantly written—the dialogue, plot, and scenery all come together with a ferocity of voice. The author was clearly on fire while crafting this story.
I’m giving Forever My Lady 3 stars. I’m already racing to get the second book in the series to see how this love story unfolds. This novella packs trauma, drama, love, and resilience in a way that kept me hooked from start to finish.
Fellow readers, dive in and share your take—did C. Wilson win you over as a fan too?
From the first page I was hooked Autumn has been dealing with an abusive guy name Lamar was she decided enough is enough he started stalking her. To make it so bad Lamar is a cop one night he is posted outside Autumn place he sees her inside a truck with a man once the man drops Autumn off he pulls him over after driving down the street. Lamar notice the man is a lawyer he seen him inside the court house Patience gets off free so he drives home. The end of this book had me pulling my invisible pearls I am reading book 2 right now.

Forever My Lady by C. Wilson is a beautifully crafted novel that offers a mature, thoughtful look at love’s transformative power. It’s a story that will resonate with anyone who believes in the healing capacity of love and the importance of building trust. With its strong emotional core, well-drawn characters, and moving narrative, Forever My Lady is a must-read for romance fans looking for something that goes beyond the typical love story.
An intense and captivating read, this story follows Autumn as she escapes an abusive past and finds comfort in Patience—her boss and a devoted single father. Just as their connection begins to grow and heal old wounds, her obsessive ex reappears, threatening to unravel everything. Filled with tension and danger, it’s a powerful story of love, protection, and second chances—just be prepared for that cliffhanger!
This was a really good book. It was super fast paced. There wasn't much of the relationship with Patience and Autum, I wish that there was more relationship building. I didn't really think that Matthew and the friend needed their own chapters. It took up a lot of space.
This book is for the strong. It touches on things that happens in real life. Everyone needs to read the book. Already got the second part to finish it out. Keep up the good work C. Wilson.
it took me entirely too long to read this…not because it was boring but because I was invested in another book that I really wanted to finish first. Anyway, I enjoyed this book… ant wait to see what evolves around the four main characters.
Whew. A very jam packed story in a novella. A lot of point of views. A lot of drama hurt and pain but someone love found in all the chaos. Lamar is a POS & I’m hoping that cliff hanger goes the way I think it does. Off to the next book.
Now Ms. C Wilson this ending here just made my blood pressure spike 😯😯😯😯 the look on my face is utterly shocking. I really enjoyed this book Lamar DeVante Hoover is the definition of CRASH OUT
