In the high-stakes games of love and poker, there can be only one winner…
I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life. But nothing compared to this. Betraying my family. Exposing them to the worst kind of danger. Allowing myself to become a pawn in a violent game played by a sinister man. It’s too late to go back. No way to undo the damage I’ve caused. All I can do now is try to keep myself alive and the Hawkes protected. Playing by his rules. Which means I can’t be distracted by anything. Especially not the stunning and intelligent Allegra. Yet, from the moment she sits across from me at the poker table, I know I’ve lost. And not just the hand. My heart. While she holds her cards and secrets close to her chest, I can’t help but be drawn in deeper by the mysterious woman with the haunting gray eyes. The stakes are high. If I lose, it’s about more than the billions in the pot. It could mean the end for me and everyone I love.
Restless Hawke is the sixth book in The Hawke Family Second Generation Series from USA Today Bestselling Author Gwyn McNamee. Grab this angsty, steamy billionaire romance about a man seeking redemption while fighting his demons and a woman torn between duty to her family and her attraction to the broken man she’s supposed to keep at arm’s length.
Get ready people because Coen’s story is one that will take your breathe away! This man does not fold (pun intended) and he makes it his mission to right his wrongs and show not just his family but Satriano that you never mess with a Hawke.
Coen is in a battle for his life that takes place at a felt table because gambling got him into trouble and it’s going to be his way out. As he battles his demons a new player enters the game and blows his world to pieces!
Allegra and Coen find themselves not only fighting for dominance on the poker table but with each other. As they find themselves together more and more neither can deny the pull. The steam in this story is so angsty and sooooo hot! Coen is his fathers son through and through and I loved every word.
If you haven’t started this series you MUST because wach story carries a storyline that has the Hawkes fighting for their city as well as solidifying their bond and how truly healing unconditional love is. This story has twists you won’t expect but in true Gwyn fashion you gotta trust her because you know the ending is going to blow you away.
Restless Hawke is the next book in the Hawke second generation series and features Coen and Allegra🙌 As usual, the author spins a tale which immediately captivates you and reels you in…and this one is no different❣️
Coen feels like he is the black sheep of the Hawke family because he’s never settled in anywhere within the Hawke empire…unless gambling is considered?🤷♀️ When Coen finishes playing a game one night, he glimpses the figure of a svelte woman…immediately intrigued, rather than go back to his hotel room, he pursues her.
This story is complicated and emotions run high between Coen and Allegra…so many revelations in this one that were unexpected…but I enjoyed it thoroughly and I can’t wait to see what’s coming for the Hawkes next😳
Restless Hawke is the sixth book in Gwyn McNamee’s Billionaires of New Orleans: Second Generation series. If you’ve read Atlas’s story, Rebel Hawke, you’ll know what happened with Coen Hawke at the end of that book. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend doing so before diving into this one. I was particularly curious about Coen’s plans after he decided to bet against his cousin and go up against the Hawke family’s enemy.
I really enjoyed Coen’s story and getting to know his character, although I was disappointed with what he did to his cousin and basically his family as a whole. He definitely needed to get his act together, but instead, he chose to leave his family and New Orleans without telling anyone. He did this in an attempt to win back the money he lost while playing at poker tournaments. However, during these tournaments, he’s about to meet his match in a beautiful and intriguing woman named Allegra, whom he falls hard for. The problem is that she has her own motives for being at the tournaments with him, and if he discovers her true intentions, he will not only be heartbroken but also very angry.
I really enjoyed Allegra’s character because she was mysterious yet also able to keep Coen in check when he needed it most, particularly at the poker table. However, I figured out that Allegra was hiding secrets from Coen, especially when reading her point of view. Surprisingly, this didn’t detract from the story for me; instead, it heightened my curiosity about how Coen would react when he eventually discovered the truth about her. When that moment arrived, his reaction matched my expectations, and I felt for Allegra because, by then, she had developed feelings for him.
I believe Coen should have turned to his family for help instead of running away to face everything on his own, including Damon. One of the reasons I love this series is the way the Hawkes family protects and cares for each other. Coen needed to understand that his family would support him and forgive him for his actions.
It was inevitable that Coen and Allegra would end up together. From the very beginning, they had instant chemistry, even though their connection felt forbidden. Despite their falling out toward the end of the book, Coen was going to choose her no matter what, plus she was going to pick him, even though she was going to lose someone else in her life, once she picked Coen and his family.
Overall, this installment in the series was enjoyable, and I give it four stars. I look forward to reading Bishop Hawke’s book next. I want every Hawke family member to receive a happy ending.
Single/Dual POV: Dual POV.
Standalone or Part of Series: This is the sixth book in the series and needs to be read in order due to the storylines continuing in each book.
Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you are looking for a series filled with suspense, drama, romance, and a family that loves and supports each other no matter what, then this series is a must-read.
What to Expect: ✔️Billionaire Romance ✔️Forbidden Romance ✔️Hidden Motives ✔️Secret Identities ✔️He Falls First ✔️Poker Player ✔️Revenge Plot
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I absolutely fell for Coen and Allegra from the very first chapter. They just seem absolutely perfect for each other. The games they play, both at the felt and while they navigate what's happening between them, make them such a fun couple. The intrigue and mystery surrounding Allegra kept me glued to the pages, chapter after chapter. The instant connection they both felt was filled with heat and sexual tension. Coen knew just how to play Allegra, and it made for some steamy, sublime reading. Coen's dirty mouth is addictive, so it's no wonder Allegra couldn't stay away! If Coen's actions don't get your motor running, check your pulse, you may be dead, LOL!
I am so in love with the Hawke series books. They are a big family, especially now that the 2nd generation is all grown up and starting to make their way into Hawke Enterprises. They are an amazing family that I love following. The tropes in Restless Hawke are numerous and keep the storyline moving forward, book after book.
Author Gwyn McNamee has gone and done it this time! The whole book had me on edge, curious about Allegra, wondering about Santiago, but then BAM! That last chapter leaves the reader hanging! Just when you think you might have some things figured out, a new twist hits the pages, another player makes a debut, and more questions are raised.
Restless Hawke doesn't necessarily end on a cliffhanger, but it certainly did leave some things unfinished, which will no doubt be addressed in the next book. Coen was not the man I expected him to be -- he was SO MUCH MORE! Can't wait to see how things play out for him and Allegra.
Thank you to the author Gwyn McNamee for the ARC of Restless Hawke. I've been excited for more since reading both the OG Hawke family and the second generation Hawke family.
Cohen's story is one that will take your breath away and have you on the edge of your seat. He is on a mission to right his wrongs and show everyone (his family and Satriano included) that a Hawke is not to be messed with.
He finds himself battling for his life after it's revealed that gambling got this Hawke into some serious trouble with an enemy of their family. Cohen is determined to battle his demons and come out on top without the help of his family.
Until a new player walks up to the table- one who does throw Cohen for a loop although his poker face doesn't show it. In walks Allegra (who Cohen originally thought was a call girl) a female poker champ who's caught her next mark. The both of them find themselves fighting for dominance on the poker table- but outside the poker tournament they cannot help but be drawn to each other.
Their pull is magnetic and no matter the city they always find themselves orbiting. The chemistry, steam and angst are off the charts with these two and I adored it. I will admit I did not see that little twist coming through from Gwyn.
People absolutely need to pick up both the OG and second generation Hawke family series, because this family not only fights for their city but shows us how healing unconditional love from family is.
Ok so I devoured this book so quickly. Coen is a master poker player, he's usually unflappable but when your head isn't in it then you lose. Coen spiraled and who could blame him. The Hawke's always depend on and support each other but he "betrayed" them leaving him floundering more. Allegra draws Coen in from the moment they meet but can he trust himself? Allegra is a mystery that you're going to want to watch masterfully unfold on the pages in this book. I can't get enough of this family no matter the generation. I have to say the way this book ended deliciously taunting me with the good time that's about to be had in the next book is almost shameful! You can't go wrong with any of these books first or second generation. I say read them all! But great ready to fall in love with this family and want to fight right along beside them! Billionaire, Forbidden Romance, Poker Player, Secret Identities, Hidden Motives, Possessive/Protective Hero, He Falls First, Redemption, Revenge Plot, Spice
This is the sixth book in the Billionaires of New Orleans: The Hawke Family Second Generation series and it is a captivating read that gives readers Coen’s story. If there was a member of the Hawke family who would be considered the “black sheep” then Coen would fit the bill as he is a man who has no direction as opposed to the other members of his family. However, he does seem to have an affinity for gambling with its ups and downs. One night after playing a game of poker, he becomes enthralled by a woman and instead of heading to his room, he begins his pursuit. Ms. McNamee has once again delivered a storyline that does not disappoint. Although it was off to a slower start, the more the plot progressed one is hard-pressed to put the book down. From the character development to the vivid descriptions and writing style, this is one book that gives those Blue Bloods vibes that makes anyone a Hawke family member and offers a seat at that dining room table...because let’s face it, it’s all about family after all. I recommend this book and the rest of the series.
There is nothing more important than family. This is a theme that runs on a constant loop in Gwyn McNamee's Hawke series. Whether it is the Hawke family or any number of nefarious mafia families that the Hawkes have contend with, people who love their families will do whatever it takes to protect them. Coen, the son who seems to have a wanderlust and the ability to make huge mistakes, finally is in a position he never wanted to be in. Make a deal with the devil or risk your family. He does what he has to in order to keep them safe. But, no matter what you do, dealing with Satriano is dangerous business, especially when you have no idea when the other show will drop. And it WILL drop. Will Coen gamble away any chance at making a difference or finding love? Full of the usual steamy moments that you expect from this author. What comes next for the Hawkes? Lord only knows.
I really enjoyed Restless Hawke. I liked the plot, main and secondary characters and Gwyn has such a way of putting a found family together, the emotions are always so raw and genuine and you feel what these characters are going through. I really liked both Allegra and Coen, both were great main characters and i loved getting to know them. The chemistry between Allegra and Coen was red hot from that first meeting. I loved seeing all of the Hawke family members and hope we see more of them. The family vibes are so bloody strong and it’s what makes this series so amazing and unique. Loved seeing more of the storyline that’s been throughout this whole series and i didn’t see one of the twists coming. I can’t wait for the next book, i just know it’s going to be absolutely explosive!
That ending though 🤯. That's all I'll say on that you'll have to read the book to find out. As some one who has devoured this whole series from the minute I started it I just couldn't wait to read Coen's story, and boy I sure wasn't disappointed. Everything about this book was magnificent the vivid descriptions that at times gave me goosebumps to the brilliant writing you just couldn't put it down till you where done. At this point I'm just going to consider myself an honorary Hawke and find me a seat at the table as well cause sure feel like a family member, and I sure can't wait to join them for Sunday dinner again. If you haven't read about the Hawke Family I definitely recommend you pick up the series you wont regret it.
The latest installment in the 2nd generation Hawkes is even better than the last and I didn’t think it was possible! Coen and Allegra’s story was filled with drama, suspense and fun, sexy times. Their chemistry is so combustible that they couldn’t help but be drawn to each other even though they shouldn’t. I love the dynamics in their relationship and the way their characters came full circle because in Atlas’s book I didn’t like Coen, but he grew on me and I felt like he paid for his mistakes. The Hawke family dynamics is always fun to read, their humor, love for and devotion to each other are life goals 🥰 If this was any indication, then Bishops’s story is gonna be off the chain! Can’t wait! 😝
I loved Cohen and Allegra. Their story was sexy, steamy, emotional, trust issues and games. Cohen messed up and he’s trying to figure it out on his own, running from his family and traveling from place to place trying to win back the money that he lost Satriano. Never did he see Allegra coming. She’s got an angle and he knows it, but it doesn’t stop him from pursuing her every chance he gets and she is not making it hard. It’s a game and she has the upper hand for now but when the tables turn and feelings start to factor into it she’s going to have to come clean about what she’s up to and who she really is. Such a great read and can't wait for the next book to see how things play out.
Questionable choices have led Coen to the situation he has found himself in but rather than seeking help he chooses to repeat those mistakes as the solution. This is when he meets Allegra who may be his adversary when it comes to cards but feels like his perfect match in every other way.
Allegra is a skilled card player who must view Coen as nothing more than a means to an end even if her feelings for him are much different. She knows that anything between them could only end in disaster she can’t seem to stay away.
Allegra is a woman with secrets which only makes her more compelling while Coen wants to protect those he cares about. The chemistry between them was never in question and now they just need to overcome all the other roadblocks standing in their way.
Gwyn produces another Hawke masterpiece for sure! Coen and Allegra, are they opponents or so much more? A slow burn has never been so HOT. These two sizzle from the moment they meet. Competitors at high stakes poker games… Coen’s playing for his life and she’s the biggest distraction he’s ever had. ‘Angst and innuendo’ is the name of their game. “Another opportunity to get a leg up on my opponent”… is that literal?! Thorough. Aggressive. Possessive. When the stakes are this high, can there even be a winner? I loved this book and now I’m counting the days for the next one in the Hawke family story!
I wasn't sure about Coen's story, and really want looking forward to it, honestly. BUT..Rather than being woe is me, everyone hates me" he tries turning everything around for the family and, in doing so, meets Allegra. The bombshell comes later and the whole family must work together the way they do best Although it follows a new couple, this does need to be read as part of the series. It does not necessarily need to be read after the original series, certain parts are mentioned but all makes sense. There is, however a big cliffhanger making you desperate to get into Bishop's story!!
Coen Hawke....master poker player and self-proclaimed blacksheep of the family. He's looking for redemption, he knows he messed up, own's it and is now trying to fix it. In that process he meets his match in Allegra. Their chemistry is off the charts but will that pull to each other be enough to overcome the secrets that they are both hiding.
I must admit this is my first foray into the Hawke family and it was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed Coen and Allegra's story. Gwyn has a way of writing characters that you can relate to and you want to root for, she is a fabulous storyteller!!! My TBR list has now grown exponentially to add the entire Hawke series.
Restless Hawke left me breathless, and I'm just dying to know what happens next! He's a sharp one, and even though he's trying to redeem himself for the troubles he's brought to his family, he's manning up and doing everything he can to fix things. Allegra was this mysterious woman who gave Coen a real run for his money, but she has some deep, game-changing secrets. I loved her character, and whoa, what a twist!
I love how Coen is every bit like his father, and the sexy, off-the-charts heat was hot, hot, hot!! I always love seeing the older Hawke family involved, and they haven't lost a bit of their charisma! This was an all around emotional, heartfelt book!
I would absolutely recommend reading this series in order. There are threads that I feel would be pulls in the tapestry of this book.
Watching Coen be an @$s to his family was hard. I wanted him to be better, do better, be less "restless". It took me a minute to settle in with him. I am a HUGE fan of the entire family and understanding there is a "bad apple on every tree". Don't get me wrong, he does what he does for what he thinks is the right reasons, but dude...
Told in dual POV, this is the first book in the Coen and Allegra saga and this will definitely be a reread for me when the next one comes out.
Wow! Off the freaking charts hot. Still reeling from the intense ending.
Coen is caught by the short and curlies by Satriano and he's waiting for the other shoe to drop. In the meantime, he's bouncing around poker tournaments to pay back Satriano...the cash anyway.
Allegra is a distraction that Coen cannot handle right now. Both of them have secrets they are keeping from each other. But man do they sizzle.
Having to choose is difficult at the best of times, but Allegra and Coen have each other to lean on.
This book. Wow. It grabbed me from the get go and no matter what needed to be done, it had to be read. If I put it down, it seemed like it was calling my name to come back to it. Needless to say I finished it in one sitting. This book moves along at a pace that is perfect for the story making for an easy and enjoyable read. The characters are so real that you feel like you know them and are part of their lives. You want to be there for the,. This book is not going to disappoint you, it is a must read that needs to be on your TBR list, no doubt about it. A must read.
Restless Hawke is the sixth novel in The Hawke Family Second Generation by Gwyn McNamee. I love the name of this story and how it truly fits to Coen's personality and place in the Hawke clan.
Coen and Aurora have chemistry that is unmatched. And I truly love the Hawke's ability to accept everyone, even when they don't feel like they have a place within the Hawke businesses and make colossal mistakes. They still protect their own.
I absolutely love this family and series! Every novel just adds to the world and the depth of the characters!
A great addition to this series! The family is reeling from the aftermath of Atlas's fight. Coen has left town to right his wrongs and protect the family from Satriano's threats. Coen is trying to pay back the money he owes by gambling in big tournaments. At one such tournament he meets Allegra. She is a poker player too but she seems to have a separate agenda. Despite both having major secrets between them, they can't seem to stay away from each other. When they literally and figuratively lay all their cards on the table, who will emerge from the rubble? Looking forward to more!
Once again, I have a new favorite book by Gwyn McNamee. I'm pretty sure I say that every time a new book comes out but what can I say, I love this author's writing. From the amazing characters Coen and Allegra to the captivating storyline line this book is a fabulous read. The writing is well done and the characters are well developed. Restless Hawke is book six in the series and it ends in a cliffhanger, so be prepared to scream. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
What an awesome book. Coen is over the top and Allegra is perfect for him. Loved the games between the two of them, and it was a definite page-turner of a story. What would be held over his head next? How can you stop it from happening? This family keeps growing, 30+ people, but it is a wonderful family for sure. Loved Coen's intensity. Lots of different stories that can and will happen and I can't wait for the next story. "Combustible."
The danger… the back and forth between them. I couldn’t put this one down. Sure they were playing the game, but I couldn’t wait to find out what game Allegra was playing with Coen.
This book was filled with drama and so steamy you need a cold shower. I was in tears at the end. Allegra was caught in a situation that for her hurt either way it played out. I love the Hawkes, and this one, was so good!
Wow, just wow! Allegra and Coen have a rocky start to the relationship. She knows who he is and what he’s about but he knows nothing about her. Their lives mesh and he is shocked when she reveals her secret. I love how entwined the whole family is in each story. How they protect each other no matter what. I hate how this finishes on a cliffhanger, and the next book isn’t out for almost a year. We waited so long for this book, and nothing was resolved… So annoying!
I didn’t think it was possible but Restless Hawke just became my favorite in the series! Coen and Allegra may be my favorite couple thus far! 😭 Each book just gets better and better but Gwyn completely out done herself with this one! There is so much mystery, angst, spice, and plot twists that will keep you on your toes. Seriously this book has everything you could ever want. Now I can’t wait for Bishop’s book so I can see what happens next!
I couldn’t wait for this book because I wanted to see if Coen was going to change my opinion of him. As we got from previous books he’s a gambler. However there’s so much more to this black sheep. Him and Allegra chemistry is off The charts. I swear was a battle of wills.
I loved Coen and how he tried to fix his wrongs.
You get all the spice, emotions on high. You get everything you expect if you’ve read previous books.
I loved Coen and Allegra's story! Coen has always been a little lost and feels he is the black sheep of the Hawke family. He makes a very bad decision and it definitely affects the family, so he feels he needs to make amends. Allegra is a bit of a mystery until near the end of the book when her real story is revealed. The chemistry between these 2 characters is fantastic! I love this series and would definitely recommend. I'd start at the beginning though with Savage and Dani's book!
4* Coen is trying to win back what he owes Satriano (10 million) from the casino tables after a bet he made backfired. Allegra has been sent to watch him and assess, but nothing could prepare her for the pull she feels towards him. I enjoyed reading this story and the characters. The whole series is definitely worth reading.
