My last memory is of the accident. The rancid smell of gasoline and the silence...the deafening silence. Then there was only darkness...and him. I am his captive. His broken doll. There is no escape. No hope. No one is coming to save me. This is a twisted, dark horror novella. There is no HEA. You have been warned.

Zoe Blake is the USA Today Bestselling Author of the romantic suspense saga The Cavalieri Billionaire Legacy inspired by her own heritage as well as her obsession with jewelry, travel, and the salacious gossip of history’s most infamous families.
She delights in writing Dark Romance books filled with overly possessive billionaires, taboo scenes, and unexpected twists. She usually spends her ill-gotten gains on martinis, vacations, and red lipstick.
What the crap did I just read? I should just stop picking up random books. I don't like Halloween. This horror show, even less. *BEWARE OF SPOILERS!*
+ Imaginative + Unusual? + Creative + Horror
- Yucky - Bizarre - Demented - Horror porn... - Not a single shred of romance - Not just divorced from reality but pretty much running parallel to it in all dimensions. - Please, don't let me get started on the hygiene of getting your buddy's sex doll*barfes* or on the social merits of getting it from his wife...
Weell..that was unexpected.... If you thought that this is a dark romance, you would be wrong. This is actually a horror story - perfect for Halloween. It is short and to the point, although not much explanation is given.
This horror story is more gross and strange than scary. There's poor characterization and so far there's been little plot. Just a series of strange and disgusting events. I'm not feeling any suspense. I have no urge to read the next book to find out what happens.
I know the first thing people say with short stories is that there's not enough time for character development, but I've read short stories where the author did a better job at developing characters and a plot than this one. This was a waste of time. I can't emphasize enough how gross this book is.
I'm not against dark erotic thrillers. I liked Depredation by Natalie Bennett for example. This one is just poorly done.
What in the actual f**k nuggets did I just read?!?!
I refuse to give you spoilers but OMG Zoe Blake has just utterly blown my mind!!!! Jane has a car accident and is willing herself to hold out for help. Then she's in a nightmare she cannot wake up from....or can she? This story is dark and twisted, I truly wish there was just a smidge more but what was given is freaking fantastic!
I feel privileged to have been able to read this before everyone else did! I've got to say, if you're looking for a DARK thrill ride this is IT. Broken Doll is an engrossing and shocking tale and I am not surprised it came from the mind of Ms. Blake at all. In fact, she's knocked the ball out of the park on this one and it's a home run exhilarating ride I invite you all to delve into. You won't be disappointed.
What in the fuck did I just read? This was….definitely something. 5⭐️, the author’s idea to write this?! Oh dear God. Am I gonna read another books in the series? Yes. Am I gonna be burning in hell for reading that? Definitely.

I read this story when it came out on When The Dark Wins anthology.Oh my I have read a few books of Zoe Blake and the few books that I have read don't come with this kind of events. But I can assure you that you will definitely get your mind blow away when you start reading it at first I thought that it would be kind of like a stranger saving the heroine but oh man I was so wrong this just took me to a whole different place where I thought the story was heading to. It definitely blow my mind away it's dark your kind of dark that you might like or not so much. So the only thing I can say is read it with your mind and eyes well open because you sure are in for a surprise. And that ending how cool was that?
I am at a loss for words yet have questions and like a moth to the flame I hope I get some answers in books 2 & 3 It is not for the faint of heart reading this so check triggers But I am intrigued to finish the series
She remembers the accident then nothing else, until she wakes up in a strange place feeling everything but unable to move or speak willingly……
It's a four star book, but repetitive curses make it lose one star. I know it's a stressfull situation for our doll and repetition means something, however, there were at least few of them too many to warrant their purpose. It's still a book, so if you go cussing route, creativity is the way to go. Still, it's good enough to make me want to read the sequels.
What in the actual fuck did I just read?! Wow. I bought this little book only for the cover. Weird, isn’t it? Well, I wasn’t expecting mind-blowing at all. The kind you’ll never see on Netflix, ever.
Who the fuck are you? Where the fuck am I? I scream but I hear no sound. His face shows no reaction as he just takes a sip of his beer and stares down at me. “It’s just you and me. The wife is out getting drunk with her girlfriends, so I got all night. What game should we play?”
“Damn. Smartest thing I ever did was buy you. Fuck my frigid wife. This is just as good. Better because you can’t complain about chocking or not wanting to swallow. Can you, my slut?” I stare at him in horror. Buy me?
My name is Jane. Jane. Please, help me.” “I started to sob. The doll in the mirror just stared at me… expressionless… empty.”
Okay, I have two words for what I just read..MIND BLOWN! From the very first paragraph, I just knew I couldn’t put this down without finishing it in one sitting. The story of Jane is most definitely dark, but it is absolutely mesmerizing! I will not give any spoilers, so let me just say, you need to read this story. It is unlike any other I have read before! I look forward to reading more by this author!
Sooo, this was right up my alley because I'm a sick bitch who loves dark/demented/twisted books and I thought the book was great but.......
What the hell was that ending?!?!?!? Will there be another book? I get that this was a short story but HOW did Jane have this happen to her? I mean I can put two and two together and come to the conclusion with what happened to Steve happened to her but like HOW? Was there some sort of scientific experimentation or are we just left to not know that part?
I would have liked a more in depth explanation and I would have liked to read about how the bachelor party ended up with Steve. That would have been awesome since we seen how he treated Jane.
Other than those two things, I liked the book and it was super unique. I've never read anything like it and this was the first book I've ever read by this author. I will be reading more of her books!
Umm, what did I just read? I have to admit, I needed to keep reading. Very dark, difficult to read, but you definitely want to know what is happening and why. I finished in one short sitting and I am probably going to pick up the sequel out of morbid curiosity, but may need a palette cleanser in between. Four stars because I genuinely had to keep reading.
This utterly thought provoking series is published in three parts. It's brilliant. The author clearly spent some time thinking of women's gender differences and brought them to life in a way that blew my mind. College students could use her writing as essay material.
I'm going to review the complete series in this one because I can't separate them now that I've finished reading them.
The writing is good, but sometimes choppy. I could have done without some of the cursing. At times it was way too much.
I recommend everyone reading this story and learning from it.
Safety: Doesn't apply. It's very unsafe, but in a nontraditional way. See spoilers below.
Jane wakes up from a car wreck and she's inside a female sex doll. She can see and hear everything, but can not move or communicate in anyway. She is owned by a married guy who uses her in horrible ways. He let's his friend use her as well.
Basically, this story is filled with lessons to learn for both men and women. I would recommend this series to everyone.
This short read is a little bit strange, a little bit freaky, a little bit funny 😂 and all I can say without giving any spoilers is you have to simply one-click this book and read it to understand what I mean! It is certainly one that should be read as we near The Halloween period. My name is Jane and will anyone look for me stuck in this closet? I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
I do like my stories dark, the darker the better and Broken Doll is raw, intense, graphic sex, abuse…or..is it, when it is only a doll…a sex doll…WHOA…do not know what I was expecting, but this wickedly weird short story was not it and I do want more.
Short and dark. Well written and to be totally honest...just...plain..weird! It's a bewildering, strange, messed up non-sensical oddity of a read. It's pretty hard to focus on in the first chapter or 2 but once you're in, it's got a flow and something that draws you in. It ends as abruptly as it starts and i was left feeling cheated of answers. It was an ok for a lazy Saturday morning but definitely not something to go for if you want to get stuck in to a good long read.
For the first time I was surprised how dark a book can go and I've read some pretty dark stuff. Basically this girl is in a car accident, she wakes up and she experiences the worst nightmare ever imaginable.
The ending did have an element of surprise as it is left in a cliffhanger but a real dark one which leaves you all 'nasty feeling'.
Overall, a short read which will leave you baffled and question your own sanity for liking this or not.
So I have this habit of sometimes just buying books without researching what they are about.
I mean….lol
Okay. I’m laughing but it’s not funny.
Alright, I’ve read books that are more disturbing. Books that are well regarded. Books that didn’t have to try so hard to get inside your head and still remained well written.
This is not one of those stories and the best part of this is that I have the second and third parts sitting here.
So a young woman is in a car accident and wakes up….trapped as a plastic sex doll.
The rest is an experiment of questionable taste??
I have no idea what the deeper meaning is or if there is one.
High school girl, Jane💃💋, is in an auto accident and badly injured. The next time she wakes up she can't move and she determines she is in a closet. A man comes to get her, picks her up, and she sees herself in a mirror in his man cave. She is a blow up XXX doll!
ARC Received via Bookfunnel I also got the book📕 with KU.
Scary, creepy, raw, non consensual, and sad. This strikingly stark novella📕 may have triggers for some readers.
The amazingly brilliant mind of Zoe Blake will leave you begging for more. Jane had an accident and doesn't remember anything after that until she wakes up trapped inside another body in the basement of a man she doesn't know. Steve has bought her and will use her to his content. Zoe Blake just twisted the s**t out of my mind and I LOVE IT! I'm now headed to start book 2 so I don't drive myself crazy with wonder.
