She was a Gifted with a secret, but now that secret is no more, and she has become one of the hunted.
Anarys must learn how navigate her new role among a group of people who have always viewed her as the enemy, all while grappling with grief and uncovering harrowing truths that will once again shatter everything she thought she knew.
With Elsovor more crazed than ever before, the stakes have never been higher, and the Voiden will have to find a different way to end the war that’s spanned centuries.
New alliances must be forged. The half-bloods have to be found. And the truth about what really happened the night of the masquerade ball needs to be spread.
But will it be enough?
From the shadows, she emerged—a light they didn’t know was lost. From the shadows, she came—now in the light, she will remain. And together, they will rise.

4.75 ⭐️! thank you so so so much Olivia for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book, it was such an honor!
This book sucked me straight in from the start. The way this book flowed off the first book was SO well done! The pacing kept me on the very edge of my seat, I never wanted to put it down! The authors writing is absolutely beautiful. The quotes I have highlighted, I will be going back to reread over & over! I admire our FMC, Anarys, and the growth she experiences in this book. Ash is literally perfect in my eyes. Green flags through & through. The found family aspect REALLY amped up in this book & i LOVED!😩 Rexen & Briar have a special place in my heart. The plot twists in this book were CRAZY! Literally had me screaming, crying, throwing up.
Overall, I cannot recommend this series enough. I love the way the author builds this world & her characters. I’m so excited to see what else Olivia has hidden up her sleeve!
I had the honor of being an ARC reader for the 2nd book in this series! This was absolutely sensational! Olivia blows me away with her writing! Her writing is like a breath of fresh air! Please go check out her 1st book and give this one a try when it's released on November 15th, You will not be disappointed!
If it could rate the first and second book together it would be a 5 star read. I wanted more in depth character development and depth from the first book but with the second book that’s exactly what I got!! Can I just say I never thought I would be charmed by a green flag boy?! Ash is the sweetest! The ending of the book had me screaming and crying! The intensity and the twist gutted me! And I wish I had more of that throughout the book. This is a well written YA series! I cannot wait for my teenage daughter to read it!
I was lucky enough to receive the ARC of From The Shadows We Rise. This was a highly anticipated read for me and it did not disappoint. Olivia’s writing is beautiful and adds a mature feel to a YA romantasy. This book is full of emotions and twists and turns. The character development was amazing. I loved getting to know more of the side characters. The whole book was amazing but those final 4 chapters had me in a chokehold. I didn’t want the book to end. The cliffhanger at the end still has me spiraling. I can’t wait for the next book in this series
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author, Olivia Patrizzi.
From Shadows We Rise is a dual POV YA Romantasy. Don’t let the YA tag deter you though. With all the struggles these characters go through, they don’t feel YA. The FMC, Anarys, shows a few moments of immaturity but she also shows growth and compassion well beyond her years. This book has a maturity that is not often seen in YA works. The twists are twisting and the turns are turning. This one definitely kept me on my toes. I did however, struggled a bit with the pacing as this second book felt more character than plot driven.
I so look forward to continuing on in this series and seeing where our characters end up!
Wow 🤩 I know this series is just going to keep getting better. I ate this up. The plot moved at just the right pace. Ash is swoon-worthy, he is top ten book boyfriend material. 💯 🥵 The way that he is so supportive, it’s literally the best. Every moment Anarys missed her mother, it made me miss mine. 💔 This book made me feel it all: sadness, shock, anger, happiness, straight-up giggling and kicking my feet at parts. There were even parts where I wanted to yell at the characters because they were frustrating me in the best way. The found family in this book is coming together in the best way too. I definitely need a Briar/Rexen novella. I would LOVE there to be more backstory for them. 🖤 This book, to me, ended on a GIANT cliffhanger and the way I need to know what happens next might be on the verge of feral. I wanted to know more about the magic and I felt like it could have been longer! I would have ate up any extra “filler” because it’s just that good! Also, if I could be a Voiden for a day maybe I wouldn’t be late for anything. The way they can travel is fascinating. Also, I want to go to Airahollow. It sounds beautiful and I hope that someone with a whole lot of talent ends up loving this series and making some fan art. A big giant THANK YOU to Olivia, the author, for letting be a part of your ARC team. 💜💜The way I ignored all my responsibilities to read your book and boy did it deliver!!
I got the opportunity to be an ARC reader for the second book in this trilogy. This is a YA romantasy that includes a green flag MMC, a fast paced plot, twists you didn’t expect, found family, and more. Olivia writes in a way that’s extremely descriptive and I could really visualize what’s happening in each scene, which I love. The first book “Into the Void” was a fairly fast read for me and now that I have a better understanding of the world, I devoured book 2! Sometimes I feel like romantasy books can feel dragged on with all the world building but this book wasn’t too long or too short in my opinion. There were a handful of twists I didn’t anticipate and I’m looking forward to the final book in the trilogy to see how it all comes together in the end. Thank you Olivia! 🤎
By the Omren this book was absolutely amazing! It was just as good as Book 1. We gained a lot of answers and have so many more now too! There was never a dull moment in the story and I loved getting to know more of the characters and backgrounds. There are twists and turns throughout this book, it’s insane! Especially that ending, oh my gosh. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC Olivia!
I was lucky enough to get this as an ARC and i absolutely LOVED the first book, Transcendent: Into the Void. I will start by saying, I’m not ok. There was a lot less action on this book when compared to book 1. This book focused more on the characters relationships for advancing the plot, interestingly that didn’t make it feel slow or anything. I was fine right up until the last two chapters when I realized there was no way we could finish this book and resolve the main conflict in so little space. The last page though… that really got me because I was not expecting it at all. If you like YA, low spice, found family (literally), romance and conflict with magic, this series is for you. Nasty evil villain vs self sacrificing FMC who I think is stronger than she even realizes.
I was ever so lucky to be sent an advanced copy of this book! Thank you Olivia for allowing me to read this!
WOW wow wow. I am obsessed with this book series!! I can’t stop thinking about these characters and this story line! Olivia captures emotions and struggles so beautifully! 10/10 definitely recommend reading if you’re looking for a slow burn Romantasy!
This book had me in all the feelings I was feeling heartbreak but all the right happy moments i was kicking my feet. Olivia has hit this out of the park. Absolutely loved every second of it
I want to start by saying that I was given the privilege to read this book as an ARC. I cannot wait to get my hand on a physical copy as a trophy for my shelf!
WHEN I SAY THAT I DEVOURED THIS BOOK! This book will break you and mend you over and over! It is a breathtaking continuation of a world where forbidden romance and fated mates intertwine with themes of growth and belonging. Patrizzi has crafted a story that is both gripping and emotional, effortlessly pulling readers back into the complexities of her vividly imagined universe.
Character growth is a prominent theme in this installment, with both leads facing their pasts and discovering their true selves. Patrizzi’s ability to delve deep into her characters' psyches adds depth to their arcs, making their transformations feel authentic and relatable. Their evolution is not just about love; it’s about finding strength in vulnerability and the power of community.
The concept of found family shines brightly throughout the narrative as Patrizzi paints a beautiful portrait of loyalty and support, showing how chosen bonds can be just as strong—if not stronger—than blood ties. This aspect of the story resonates deeply, reminding readers that love often comes from the most unexpected places.
The prose in From Shadows We Rise is nothing short of enchanting. Patrizzi's writing flows with a lyrical quality that makes each page a delight to read. The world-building is rich and immersive, allowing readers to lose themselves in the intricate details of the setting. It’s the kind of book you wish you could experience for the first time over and over, filled with moments that linger long after the final page.
In summary, From Shadows We Rise is a masterfully crafted tale of love, growth, and the bonds that unite us. Olivia Patrizzi has solidified her place as a voice to watch in the genre, and this book (the entire series honestly) is a testament to her talent. For fans of romance, fantasy, and character-driven narratives, this is a must-read that will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression. Highly recommended! If this book is not on your TBR, what are you even doing?!
OLIVIA PATRIZZI. The author you are. Book one blew my mind. Book 2 extinguished me from existence and brought me back to life. Wow. From Shadows We Rise is book two in the Transcendent Trilogy. If you haven't read book one, stop what you are doing and read it IMMEDIATELY. There will be no major spoilers in this review for books one or two.
Have you ever had a book where you purposely found reasons to set it down, so it would last longer? That was me with this book. The world-building is so immersive that I didn't want to leave this beautifully curated place in my mind while reading. The character development also blew my mind. Seeing relationships develop and the new characters introduced felt natural—Anarys's conflicts with her relationships and sense of self hit home. Even though a lot of what she is going through isn't something we would necessarily experience, it makes sense and I just feel like I want to reach through the pages and hug her.
Now, let me talk about that ending... Tell me how you can pack so much emotion, action, and shock into a chapter and make it flow so beautifully. Also looking back the foreshadowing was there BUT I WAS SHOCKED?!? Tears streaming down my face in utter shock. (I did record my reaction, I will probably post it) I genuinely do not know how I am supposed to carry on with life without Book 3 in my hands. I do not have enough patience to wait another minute.
To wrap up my review, I want to thank Olivia. I have been following you since shortly after book one was published. I have loved watching your journey and seeing the ups and the downs. I am so honored to have read this book and continue to support you. The love and positivity you spread is inspiring. I will say this with my full chest, you are one of my favorite authors. I look forward to seeing new posts from you and I can not wait to see what other masterpieces you create.
My rating: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (would rate 6 stars if I could) *From Shadows We Rise is so far my favorite book of the year*
I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author, Olivia Patrizzi for this book. This was a highly anticipated read for me after falling in love with the world building in book one. I expected a very emotional journey, continuing where she left off with Into The Void and Olivia did not disappoint. She dove deeper into several characters, their development was artfully written. I was so deep in my feelings, even feeling sympathy for the villains of the story. Her pacing is great. I’ve come to expect a certain rhythm from her writing, it has such wonderful flow. A truly natural progression that keeps you locked in from beginning to end. You really feel like you’re in the mind of her characters. This story is dual perspective but nothing is repetitive or redundant. Her characters show a level of maturity that is expected from a war torn fantasy, but still surprising in a way that leaves you breathless. The sacrifices they are both willing to make for themselves, their people and their kingdom is both heart shattering and inspiring. This book has found family trope and amongst so much chaos and destruction still offers so much love and hope. It will leave you crying and wanting more. Exactly the type of story I have come to expect from such a talented writer. I can’t wait for the third book in this trilogy. These characters have my heart!
There is no enough stars to explain how much I loved this book. Rys and Ash's chemistry is beyond anything I've ever read. How much he truly cares for her is felt with everything he says and does. And the character development of Rexen is amazing. It was not something I could have seen coming. But when I tell you to be prepared for one of the biggest plot twists ever I am not joking. This book had me SOBBING. I haven't felt this way about a series since Fourth Wing and Throne of Glass. And I can truly say this equals that for me. It doesn't need smut. The romance is this is clean and real. And I love it. You can tell the love Olivia has for these characters and this world in her writing. Everything comes to life and while your still left with a cliffhanger and questions you find yourself feeling complete with the answers you do receive. This series will be something that is engraved into my soul forever. Such beautiful writing. Forbbin love, found family, mostly closed door romance, one bed trope, so many things. 6 star read for me by far. I won't stop recommending this series.
I received this copy as an ARC read for free and I'm leaving this review honestly.
Let me just say this louder for the people in the back….this is the best YA Romantasy series and after finishing From Ashes We Rise I am still prepared to die on this hill!!
Some authors struggle to keep the momentum going from book 1 into book 2 but Olivia is not one of them!! Our story picks up right where Into the Void ends and it’s like you never stopped reading, just entered part 2. From Ashes We Rise is slow in the right parts to allow healing. It’s fast paced in a rush to discover a way to protect the Voiden and free the Kingdom. The romance is full of growth, sadness, realness, rawness, and all the magic that makes you believe that love can conquer all.
Outside of the entire book being a beautiful combination of everything I love in a Romantasy, it’s Anarys(our FMC) that held me captivated. She was always such a fierce woman but in From Ashes We Rise we watch her grow. Anarys is broken by tragedy, lost within herself for everything that took place at the ending of Into The Void. She must learn throughout the book who she is, what she stands for, and her true path during this war. All while making choices that cause others to break, choices that demand she look within to forgive herself and take her place amongst her people to end the war.
First off, if you haven't read book one Transcendent Into the Void yet, you need to stop what you are doing and go read it right now.
With that out of the way, let me just say, From Shadows we Rise was nothing short of a masterpiece. Olivia has a way of telling a story and making you feel every feeling along with these amazing characters! There are so many twists but the way the story is woven together is something most wouldn't expect from a first time writer. I have been shouting from every corner and recommending her first book since I picked it up fresh off the coat tail of her debut release! Now I get to add book two to my pandering 😂 because I believe this series has what it takes to be a best seller! We just need it to get in front of the right people!
So again, if you are hesitant to pick up this series, take my word for it, please read it because I closed this book with the same feeling as I did with the first one, wanting more! I can NOT wait to read the last book and see how she finishes this story!
Thank you Olivia for allowing me the opportunity to read this book prior to its release ❤️ what a privilege it has been.
”From the shadows you emerged, a light we didn’t know was lost. From the shadows, you have come, & in the light you will remain.”
4.5 ⭐️
In this much anticipated second book in The Transcendent Trilogy, we pick up right where we left off from, the first book, Into the Void.
Anarys is safely with Asher & the other Voiden, coming to terms with what has happened & deciding how to move forward.
Frustratingly, Elsover seems to remain one step ahead of both the Voiden & the Resistance.
How can they stop a man dead set on murdering everyone in his way who tries to stop him?
Anarys, the self-sacrificing human she is, will stop at nothing to protect the ones she loves.
When they are informed of jaw-dropping information, their plan of action is thrown off course.
Learning how to perfect her powers, accepting her role, & learning how to forgive herself, Anarys grows & changes into who she was destined to become.
But as Elsover advances will it be enough?
What to expect: 🩶 YA easy / fast- paced read 🖤 Romantasy - small sprinkle of mild spice 🩶 High stakes 🖤 Found family 🩶 Cliffhanger
I rated this as a 4.5 ⭐️ just because in some of the slower moments, I felt the little “surprises” were overshadowed by them. Overall, such a fantastic read & an amazing follow up from the first book. Can’t wait to continue on & see how the story will end.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
First holy cow there was a lot packed into this book! From figuring out where the ultimate enemy-Elsovar is to Ash and Anarys cultivating a new relationship, there was no stone left unturned.
If you haven't read the first book Into the void go do that first! Then come back to this book immediately you won't be disappointed!
Anarys or Rys has to come to realize that she has more powers. She is a voiden as well as a gifted. Ash her love interest is a voiden too. They are now on a journey to find Elsovar and defeat him before he kills off all of the voiden.
Voidens can transport themselves to anywhere they can imagine, the gifted have different powers for example the power of wielding fire.
If you enjoy a young adult romantasy, with slow burn, subtle spice, found family, new relationships, surprise character appearances, more character development, impending war, and magic wielding then you need to read this to continue this love story of Ash and Anarys.
This book is releasing on Amazon and KU November 15th. Mark your calendars!
I am so shook right now. I literally just finished it and I without a doubt recommend! Now this is book 2 of series so you will need to read the first book (Into the Void) to truly understand the backstory. It kept me interested throughout the entire book, it had my emotions on high alert!!! It has so many scenes that literally make you want to go back and reread them. It will have you giggle, smirk, cry, freak out and then give you a shot of just shock. The plot twist in this book has me SHOOK, REELING and slightly freaking out because now I have to wait for book 3!!! Multiple times I had to put the book down and take a moment to process what Olivia did to my heart when writing this book. I absolutely loved book one but book 2?!!!! It only excels in the most excellent way possible! Phenomenal job!! This book is now in my top 3 of books I have read in 2024. I need book 3 ASAP!! P.S I am going to need a novella for those two side characters you also helped me fall in love with!!
I was so incredibly honored to receive From Shadows We Rise as an ARC read.
What an incredibly perfect continuation from Into The Void this was, and it was just as much of an emotional roller coaster.
I loved the growing dynamic between Ash and Rys, the development of side characters that we get to know better, and holy cliffhanger.
My jaw was on the floor.
This book took me through a journey of all the emotions. Grief, love, betrayal, hatred, longing, and the struggle to find where you truly belong in the world.
I am so excited to continue to read more works by Olivia as her writing style is marvelous. The world she built is easy to follow and digest, and she truly makes you care for the characters while simultaneously driving a dagger through your heart. The flow of the book is seamless and so captivating.
Olivia Patrizzi has done it again. From the Shadows We Rise is beautifully written, we'll paced, and for a YA fantasy, the characters are mature. That may have to do with all they have endured in life. This is the second book in the Transendent series where Anarys and Ash, alongside the rest of the Vioden, work to come up with a plan to defeat Elsover and his legion. This book broke my heart and pit it back together. Anarys feels like she is a failure and she doesn't belong. Together, they are a fantastic couple, but can they really be together when Anarys will live forever and Ash won't? What secrets does Anarys learn about her past? 10 out of 10 recommend this book. You will need to read book one Transendent into the Void first. Don't miss out on reading this fantastic series.
This book is one of the rare books that pulls you in immediately and keeps you there. The characters are beautifully written, they are captivating, strong and full of heart. The pace of this book is exactly what every reader dreams of, not too slow that you feel as if you'll never get to the point and yet not so fast you feel as if you didn't properly get to greive every loss and celebrate every win. Olivia writes in a way that captivates you full mind and soul, it's impossible not to feel as if you're right there within the book yourself, feeling every emotion alongside the characters you grow to love.
I can't even begin to wrap my mind around how good the next book is going to be knowing just how beautiful the first two have been.
By Omri!!!! (if you know, you know) This was a FANTASTIC read!! The second book of the Transcendent Trilogy that I found I could not put down. I read it while cooking dinner, before bed, walking into and out of work, just about everywhere.
From Shadows We Rise takes off right where Transcendence: Into the Void ended. The suspense of what was happening was real. The hurt of lost family believable. The interaction between Rys and Ash made me laugh, cry, scream, feel their pain and hurt, root for them, be mad at them....whew. The roller coaster of the book with the speed that it can read can be dizzying at times because you just HAVE TO KNOW what is going to happen.
A must read when this title is released in mid November. If you have not picked up Into the Void (Book 1) yet, DO IT!!!
QUEEN OF THE PLOT TWISTS!!!!! Olivia has outdone herself, which I thought would be impossible with how good the first book was. Laugh, cry, happy dance, any emotion, Olivia pulls it out of you. I love the dual POV so you always know what is going through each characters head. The description, world building, and story telling is so insanely good. Literal chef’s kiss. There is no spice in this book, which I love. But for those who love spice, the world building and story telling make up for it and you definitely shouldn’t pass up this book because of it. Also love how the side characters were developed more and you really got to understand them more. I cannot wait for what the future holds in book #3, it cannot come soon enough!
A great continuation to the story I fell in love with.
Book two definitely brings a heavier pour when it comes to the romance aspect. While book one felt more like world-building, plot, action and character building with a romance back drop, this one focused heavier on the romance at the expense of world building.
The plot was still great, and the pacing was great as well. Bringing more twists and turns that I loved so much from book 1.
I also see a trend here with this author.. she can absolutely NAIL an ending.
As I was mainly here for the fantasy and wanted a touch of romance, this one take a ding because it's focused more on the romance side. It was even a bit more spicy than the first (closed door!).
This is book 2 in the Transcendant series, and it picks up right where we left off at the end of book 1, Into The Void. Anarys and Ash have POV's and I love reading both of them. This book is full of love, loss, found family, and high stakes. We learn about ancient beings and magic as we delve deeper into lore world building. This book certainly doesn't read as YA, and it had me hooked from page 1. The author was able to surprise me with the twists, which doesn't happen often when I read. The character growth and emotional depth of book 2 made it hard to put down! If you like romantasy with complex world building and high stakes this one is for you!
From Shadows We Rise is book 2 in the Transcendent: Into the Void Romantasy series. After I finished book one, I had high hopes for book 2. Not only did this meet expectations, it completely exceeded anything I could have hoped to get from this series.
I am so invested in this saga, in these characters, and this author’s future work. Still one of my favorite romantasies of the year. I cannot wait for Book 3, but will also be devastated to end the his trilogy.
Do not wait another moment to dive into Alvanara, and all the secrets you will find within it!
Wow! This is a must read book if you’ve read Into the Void, the 1st book in this 3 book series. This new author takes her story weaving to another level and just when you think you’ve hit a high with what unfolds, you’re stunned again and again right up until the final pages. I loved the character development and am so excited to see what comes next. Based on the reviews I’ve read, I’m not alone in my love of this series from this up and coming young author. I’m so happy for her! I can’t wait for the next book to see how this saga ends.
