Stevie

As the lead piercer at Hel’s Ink, I’ve gained skills, made friends, and accepted the chaos that is my family. Finally, good things are coming my way, and I am feeling confident, maybe a little too confident, when I post a video to my socials describing the toxicity and abuse that is all too frequent in my industry and the life I left behind. After it goes viral, I get threats that move from on-screen to real life and I’m forced to come to terms with needing help. Pushed into the protective arms of a man I can’t stand, but whose body I crave. He wants more, but I’m not even sure what it is I want, or if I even have anything left to give.

Brooks

After finding out that Stevie Campbell is being harassed over her viral video, I step up to keep her safe and protect her from the increasingly real and frightening threats she’s getting. Hel’s has become a family to me and Stevie, well, she’s become my entire world. Our physical chemistry is a perfect match, but as we get closer, I’m falling harder and she’s pulling away. I’d do anything for her, give her everything… if only she’d believe in herself the way I do.

5 +++ stars (all the *****!)

I don't know what DJ Krimmer puts in her books, but I’m addicted *sorry, not sorry.* I love how she writes and all the emotions she manages to send through her books. I laughed, I got angry together with the characters, I felt what they were feeling, because damn, he was so in love with her, adorable. This book made me feel, so mission accomplished, I could say!

Loved Stevie and Brooks' story so much. The side characters were also interesting. We got to see the other couples, find updates about them, aaaaand the cherry on the cake was Stevie's gramma. She was the bomb 🤣.

He is such an overprotective teddy bear when it comes to Stevie (until he turns into a grizzly, haha, figuratively, of course). I know I repeat myself, but his love for her was adorable. Goals 😭🖤.

Can't wait for the next book. I hope it will be Nix's book.

Thank you for the ARC 🖤.

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this book since reading the first book in the series and it was so worth the wait!! DJ Krimmer knows how to bring these characters to life, and make you fall in love right along with them. I absolutely love Stevie and Brooks together, and loved that he was completely in this relationship while giving her the space to explore it at her own pace. Stevie’s grandmother brought so much humor to this book, she’s the best!

Stevie is the fifth book in the Hel’s Ink Series by DJ Krimmer. It can be read as a standalone but I personally recommend reading the series in order so that you get the best reading and Hel’s Ink experience possible.

We’ve met Stevie in previous Hel’s Ink books, she is the piercer at the studio, so at this point, Stevie is a regular part of the gang. I am glad she got her own book in the series-
I don’t want to spoil this book or any of the Hel’s Ink books for anyone that may not have read them so I won’t be saying too much in regards to this books particular content. Stevie is one tough FMC. She is a survivor of abuse. She lives with crippling endometriosis. She is strong, resilient, independent and fiercely loyal to her family and close friends yet she also keeps people at a distance. Brooks is the best MMC and best love interest Stevie could have had. He is thoughtful, patient, determined and a natural carer. He is also a giant of a man, tough, runs with his own security/protection services company and can throw down with the best of them. He is a menacing looking man but so gentle with Stevie. The support characters are the Hel’s Ink crew and the family of our two main characters, they are written perfectly. This book will take you on a beautiful journey with Stevie and Brooks. I didn’t care too much for something that happened at the end of this book but other than that, this book was everything I knew it would be.

I am a huge fan of DJ Krimmer and once again, she has written an amazing book. DJ is extremely skilled in writing banter between her characters. She is also an expert in making me feel a rollercoaster of emotions, she is rare in that sense; she is one of an elite group of authors that has evoked tears from me with the novels she writes. I also know DJ to write alphahole (lovable ones!) MMC’s and extremely powerful and resilient FMC’s. There is also phenomenal disability representation in her books. All of them, Stevie included. I am absolutely looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Stevie is the lead piercer at Hel’s Ink and still sometimes works part time at her family’s bakery nearby. Brooks’ was brought on as a bodyguard for the Hel’s crew and has taken a special interest in the green haired beauty.

Stevie is strong and we quickly learn that she has had to be this way due to past relationship traumas. Brooks recognizes that Stevie has experienced some things in her life that present challenges for them to really be together so he gives her grace and latitude to figure things out at her own pace. They have a bit of a situationship early on and we soon realize that he is a big ole teddy bear just for her.

Stevie and Brooks are honestly so precious together. He is so patient, kind, and caring. He’s attentive and not just in a way that screams he’s a bodyguard but because he generally cares for Stevie’s wellbeing. He literally does the sweetest things for her without ever being asked and isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers when her safety is at stake.

The Hel’s ink series has a really beautiful found family vibe so with this being book five in the series, naturally the author gives us some sweet glimpses into the lives of some of our favorites from the earlier stories. We see how they are all intertwined in Stevie and Brooks’ lives (and still unapologetically themselves 😆).

It’s always fun to get updates on where the couples are in their love journeys, but my favorite side character (who really stole the show) was Stevie’s grandma Baka. Every time she was on the page I was borderline cackling with how unhinged she was acting. She was just a real force to be reckoned with and loves her family fiercely and is always right 😉.

I was initially nervous to read Stevie’s story as she wasn’t one of the main tattooers that we were introduced to at the start of the series, but overall I absolutely loved this story! This series is easily one of my favorites and I can’t recommend it enough.

I really liked Stevie and Brooks and was looking forward to their story. I’m sad the author skipped through the getting to know you portion and went straight for he saved me and let’s get together…especially because it was RIGHT after her assault. Everything about this was rushed.

The series started off strong and just got worse as it went on especially with Derek and Stevie’s books. Sad that the series ended this way.

Stevie by DJ Krimmer is the fifth book in the Hel’s Ink series. This was the shortest book in the series but it was still freaking amazing. I am so sad that I have finished all the current released books in this series. I will be counting down the days for the rest of the books! With every book I read the more I absolutely adore the Hel’s Ink crew. They are all so resilient and just make me so happy. The plot of Stevie was so interesting and had me hooked from the beginning. This series is honestly just so amazing!

Stevie is such a witty, strong, and badass FMC. Hearing about the trauma and abuse she suffered through in her past was heartbreaking. I loved that she came out stronger but seeing the anxiety she suffers with when it comes to a romantic relationship was hard. But my god Brooks was the PERFECT man for her. He was patient, kind, and protective of Stevie. He always put her first and he did everything in his power to make her feel safe and secure. Stevie and Brooks might be my favorite couple in the Hel’s Ink series so far. I just loved their dynamic and love story. I also have to shout out everyone’s favorite Croatian grandma Baka. She had me laughing so hard I was in tears. I love Baka! Her character is just freaking amazing. I can’t recommend this series enough!!!

Stevie works at Hel’s Ink as the lead piercer, and helps her mother and Baka at Nuts about Dough. She posts online about how being a woman and the bad parts of being an apprentice. This starts a hate and a stalker. Brooks helps out Hel’s Ink as a bodyguard and he starts to protect Stevie. Brooks has a huge attraction to Stevie and she’s attracted to him but won’t be in a relationship. Can Brooks keep her safe and make her fall for him. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing Book. Love Stevie and Brooks and their character development. Great supporting characters. Absolutely love Baka. This books has all the feels. Sarcasm, angst, and spice Check your trigger warnings I love this book and series

Firstly if you haven’t dove into the Hel’s Ink series. Drop everything and just start.
I’ve been waiting on Stevie’s story and as always, DJ knocks it out of the park.
I absolutely loved Stevie and Brooks!
Stevie is scared of relationships after a tragic experience with her past mentor and her fight with endometriosis. Brooks is beyond in love with her, he will stop at nothing to make her see how much she means to him and to protect her after she decides to stand up and speak out on her past abuse, and it goes viral catching the attention of said abuser. Brooks is a big ole cinnamon roll. He is just so precious and has a huge heart. Also, if you only read this story for Stevie’s Croatian grandma, Baka. Please lord do it. She makes this entire book. She is flipping hilarious.

DJ you’ve done it again. Every Hel’s Ink book, I devour it. I cannot explain how much I love the way you represent your women. They are always struggling but so strong and bad ass. The men…😮‍💨 they are always utter perfection.

In Stevie, you get great banter, amazing spice and the HEA. I really felt for Stevie in this book. Nobody talks about the horrible things that happen in certain industries, and it’s unfortunate because these things really do happen. Brooks was such a great character, a big giant teddy bear, who is also a plant daddy.

I look forward to reading about the new characters introduced in the upcoming books. This whole series has been utter perfection. So honored to ARC for you. 🩵

I really enjoyed this book and the multiple representations in it.

Stevie is a lovable, strong willed FMC who was in a very traumatic relationship/mentorship that left her with trust issues and an impenetrable emotional barrier.

Brooks is the perfect MMC to chisel down Stevie’s walls. He’s a (maybe overly) protective, lovable body guard who just wants to make sure Stevie is safe and happy.

This was the first book I read in the Hel’s Ink series, but I’m going back in for the rest of them!

I really love the Hel's Ink books and was excited to be reading an ARC of Stevie. There had been hints about her history and relationship with Brooks throughout the other books but this guy!! His determination to be there for Stevie, no matter what, was amazing. Her trauma was heartbreaking. Love her grandmother to bits!

This is a hard review for me because ever since reading Fox, I felt so happy and in love with this series and characters. I was ecstatic to see she was writing stevies stories. From seeing her struggle with her own medical issues to her crazy family that I love, she was always a wonderful friend and to uncover her past. I was shocked it was only 200 pages and the book starts when she was a piercing apprentice in a very hard scene where you know she has been physically, wlsexually, and mentally abused by Vincent the piercing guy she worked under. Then the scene after was ar a convention and I gelt it was the same scene for a moment qith Vincent but then Brooks intervenes. That is how the book felt the whole time. It was so rushed and not paced well like the others. I felt like we were going hyper speed. I felt her disease was sorta highlighted, and then she started just adding things into the plot that just I don't know was unnecessary. I also started to get very annoyed with her and the way she was treating brooks. I understand she had severe trauma from Vincent, and she was afraid brooks was the same, but his actions never showed thar even when he constantly saved her. Even at the end, what he did. Bottom line poorly rushed, discombobulated, and not the way I hoped this series would end.

Since we were introduced to Stevie, I have been waiting for her book. She was such a mystery to me, but I loved her character! She was fiercely protective of her friends, and she was so strong... but I knew there was deep hurt there. I was dying to know what her inner thoughts were like, and DJ did not disappoint with this one!!!

My heart broke for Stevie. She has been through so much. To have someone humiliate and degrade you to the degree that Vincent did... no wonder she's the way she is. I could tell how much work she has done over the years to get to a better place, but seeing Brooks heal those last few pieces was beautiful ❤️

I can also relate to Stevie on a personal level. I, too, have endometriosis. Thankfully, mine is not to the degree that Stevie's was, but it sucks. This is what I love about DJ's writing. She has her characters endure real-life conditions that you, as a reader, can relate to. I also related to Janie in this because I, too, went through infertility. I was diagnosed at 17 with PCOS and had irregular, painful cycles. Got married at 19, started ttc around 20, and it never worked. I went through endless medicated cycles, I had procedures, a surgery to remove endo scar tissue, and saw a reproductive endocrinologist. After 8 years of ttc, countless medicated cycles, and 7 iui's. I finally got pregnant with my miracle baby. I was pregnant with twins, but unfortunately, I lost one at 7 weeks. I now have a beautiful 7 year old daughter, but I will never forget my ttc journey and how hard that was for me. Stevie's book hit me with a double whammy. I am so happy for Janie and Fox ❤️ I'm so appreciative to see these struggles in books. DJ does such a phenomenal job writing about sensitive subjects.

Ok! On to happier points!

Brooks was everything I wanted him to be and more. This man is PRECIOUS!!! I love a cinnamon roll book boyfriend, and Brooks is the very definition! He could whisper dirty things in Stevie's ear, call her Peaches, and break a man's finger all in the same chapter! I live for it!!! His and Nika's relationship was hilarious 😂

Let's talk about Nika/Baka! This woman stole the show! I absolutely loooove her! She is one woman I would NEVER cross 😳 I would absolutely love a novella about her life.

“One man who should be fed to the pigs,” Baka grumbles.“Baka, you can’t murder every man that you don’t like.” The old woman barks out a laugh. “This! This is what is wrong with your generation. Eye for an eye, Stefa. The man hurt you! Then you cut off his testicles and serve them to him minced in pasta.”“I know. Brooks said he would have his company come out and help beef up the security or something.” “Alone?” Baka chirps, and I groan. Here we go. “The big bear with the beard and the–” she makes hand motions in the shape of a round bottom. “Bakaaaaa…” I whine while hiding my face. “You know his name is Brooks, and whatever you’re about to say, please don’t.” “Ne! Stefa! You listen to Baka! I know the bear man stay here at night! He cares for you, yeah? You climb the bear man! You tame the bear man, and you marry the bear man. Right now!”

“Ne! Stefa Kovac, you turn the ears on! I know you give the milk to him in the cover of darkness.” “This isn’t happening, this isn’t happening,” I mutter repeatedly. Baka taps the top of my head. “You drag the bear man in here to show you have claimed him. He big. Strong. With the muscles and the money, you get him now.” Well, this conversation is going swell. “Baka, what happened to ‘men only good for one thing’?” She scoffs, “You listen to your Baka. The bear man was in the vision–” Mama and I both groan. I’ve been hearing about “the vision” since I was ten. Baka raises a brow in warning to both Mama and me, “The attitude, both of you. My vision was real.”“I wish you would do something about her,” I hiss. Mama chuffs, “What would you have me do? Tie her to a chair and gag her?” “Happened before!” Baka calls from the back room, startling us. “Three men try to tie up your Baka. Ha! I ate their cocks for breakfast.” Mama spews her drink everywhere as I drop my head into my hands. 😂

I loved catching up with the Hel's crew. My sweet baby Atlas is freaking hilarious and I love him so much! I can't wait to see more of him and Phoenix in future books. This had me cackling 😂

“Brooks!” He smiles, spotting me. “Mate, when are you going to go out with me? These wankers are tied down.” I’m about to come up with an excuse when Atlas snorts. “Aren’t you like seventy? The early bird special at the pancake house doesn’t really constitute ‘going out’.” I look away, trying not to laugh. Nix is older than all of us, forty- eight or forty- nine, but it’s not like he’s an old man. The girls like him, though, so Atlas especially has taken it upon himself to fuck with Nix at every turn. The only problem is that Nix fucks back and the sweet, lovable Atlas has a surprisingly short temper. Nix raises his brow while running his hand through his salt and pepper hair. “Funny, your wife doesn’t seem to mind the age.” Atlas slams his hand on his metal station before standing up and getting in Nix’s face. “Listen here, Crumpet.” He spits and Derek snorts a laugh behind me. “Take cracks at us all you want. You bring our girls in it, and I’ll break your stupid tea- swilling face. Don’t test me.” 😂😂😂

I'm also excited for another spinoff series that I'm hoping 🤞🏻 Greyson will be a part of. I love a big tattooed man, and Greyson fits that bill!

As I got to the end of Stevie, I had a stupid smile on my face. I'm so proud of this crew. They have been through so much and have come so far. Everyone is finding love, getting married, having babies... I just love them so much!!! I'm excited to see everyone progress more and learn about the new characters in Phoenix and Sadie's books!

DJ!!! You are amazing at this craft. You always take us on an amazing journey that I enjoy every single second of. Thank you for writing amazing books!

Stevie.

Stevie and Brooks were a great addition to the Hel's Ink family! I was curious about Stevie's story and her family after being introduced to her in earlier books. There is something about DJ's characters that just has an instantaneous pull, I immediately want to get to know them.

Stevie is our FMC, and she comes from a Croatian family, which has shaped who she is in a lot of ways. Raised by her mother and grandmother, she is strong and fiercely independent; however, she is dealing with the re-emergence of a demon from her past. Enter Brooks, our burly MMC. Coming from a big family with a lot of sisters, he's a protector by nature and by trade. When he learns of Stevie's past coming to haunt her, he is on high alert and does everything in his power to keep her safe. They begin as a friends-with-benefits situation, but the close proximity of their situation has things changing rapidly.

One of the things that I love about DJ and her writing, is that she doesn't shy away from tough topics...in fact, she highlights them, makes them feel normalized and even celebrated. Brooks and Stevie were no exception: Stevie suffers from endometriosis and uterine fibroids, and eventually undergoes a hysterectomy to alleviate her symptoms (I'm a PCOS sufferer and underwent a hysterectomy earlier this year at age 32, so I felt very seen!). She battles with doctors over her decision to make her health a priority over wanting children, although that is something that she desires, and struggles with having to make the choice to not bear children of her own. She also deals with the ramifications of speaking out about an abusive ex and how he manipulated her, and abused his position of power in their mentor/apprentice relationship.

Despite the heavy topics discussed, we get some comic relief by way of Stevie's grandma, or Baka. She was truly the star of the show for me! Despite the hilarity of her interactions with the Hel's characters, she is also a very fiercely protective woman and matriarch.

I really enjoyed this addition to the Hel's world, and the introduction of Nix, whose story I'm looking forward to.

I have read the whole series and I hate to say this one was my least favorite. I don’t know what it was about Stevie but I found her so annoying and whiny. She suffered through awful trauma and I didn’t take that lightly nor how it impacted how she dealt with things. As a woman with Endometriosis, not as severe as hers, I could completely relate to that aspect of her character which was nice. I’m not sure if it was how she was read (I did the audiobook) or what but I just couldn’t get on board with her. Brooks was okay. I did like that he was 100% sure he wanted Stevie and he just wanted to make her happy.

✨”Stevie campbell Jesus that woman has me wrapped around her pretty little finger and I’m completely fine with it. I have spent months wearing this beautiful woman down enough to friend zone me. But It’s this or nothing and once you’ve had Stevie there is no going back.”
_______________________________________

The spice was pretty minimal for DJ. But here are some snippets…

✨ “I slide her panties down her soft skin. Tossing them over my should and.. Holy shit. I inhale sharply as I stare down at her spread legs and the bright green balls decorating her clit.”

✨”Open that infuriating mouth.”

I bring my fingers coated in her arousal up to my mouth and I make her watch while I suck them clean. Before leaning down and capturing her mouth with mine.

“See delicious isn’t it?”

“Now if you don’t mind I was in the middle of my meal.”

✨”No, no, no you ain’t getting off this ride yet.”

“You know I can’t be quiet.”

“Now you are coming on my cock before you leave. Are we understood?”

I’ll give her anything, everything all she has to do is ask

I cannot stress how amazing this series is and you should just start reading it now.

I loved Stevie and her struggles while so common it is not talked about enough and DJ absolutely knocked it out the park from harassment in work environment to her endometriosis and uterine fibroids you can feel everything she has been through.

“Being plus size and a woman they all say lose weight or let’s put off surgery until your older.”

Brooks sweet sweet amazing Brooks I loved him and Stevie’s banter in Derek but man their book had me laughing. But the real winner is how he was not shy about his feelings and he took care of her even when he knew there was a big possibility of nothing more.

“I’m so in love with you that if all I can have from you is the occasional hook-up I’ll take it. Because a piece of you is better than non. But I need you to understand. It’s like ripping my f-ing heart out and grinding it under your shoe ever godd-mn time.”

We also get so much of Baka and honestly I would love a whole story or series of just Baka and her life prior to coming to the US and when she got here she is the best.

“You listen to Baka! I know the bear man stay here at night! You climb the bear man! You tame the bear man, and you marry the bear man right now!”

Stevie is the lead piercer at Hel's Ink, she's gained skills, made friends and accepted the chaos of her family. Finally good things are coming her way so when Stevie decides to post a video on her socials describing the toxicity and abuse that frequently happens in the industry. It goes viral overnight and the threats are now moving into her real life so she needs help. Enter Brooks. After he finds out that she's being harassed he steps up to keep her safe and protected. As they get closer Brooks is falling harder for Stevie and she's pulling away. Only time will tell if Stevie will believe in herself the way Brooks does.

I loved this book so much! The prologue broke my heart. I can't imagine the trauma Stevie went through in her past. Also the daily struggles she faced with her endometriosis was commendable. The depiction was shown in it's most raw and honest form. Despite everything I loved that Stevie was a fighter. Every obstacle she faced made her a stronger person. As for Brooks I loved him for Stevie. He's always had feelings for Stevie and it never wavered. I loved how loyal, patient and overprotective Brooks was over Stevie. He always had her best interests at heart. I loved that he showed her that she was worthy to be loved as well.

As for the audiobook narration, it's amazing! Performed in duet by Lucy Rivers and Aaron Shedlock. These two were phenomenal. Lucy gave a memorable performance as Stevie. I loved her Croatian accent. I loved how she exuded Stevie's sassiness and brought out Stevie's grandmother's voice to life. Lucy brought out all the emotions in this one. I felt Stevie's pain through Lucy's heartfelt performance. Aaron gave a captivating performance as Brooks. He exuded Brooks' broodiness and shown Brooks' fun side with the playful dialogue. Aaron had my heart swooning over him. I could hear the love and fondness in his tone as Brooks. Together Lucy and Aaron's narration elevated the story for me. Highly recommend!!

DJ has done it once again. The way she tells these character’s stories is simply amazing and the banter is perfection. Each book has representation of a disorder or a disability and DJ show the realness of it and does these books justice. You can’t help but fall in love with these characters and the rawness of these stories. Each book of this series has had me in a chokehold. It’s literally a crazy ride of emotions. You feel everything!

Let me say I’m obsessed with Stevie’s grandmother. She definitely played a huge part in the book and she’s the absolute best!

Stevie is such a badass FMC. We met her in previous Hel’s Ink books and I couldn’t wait to get her full story. She’s the piercer at the shop and also suffers from Uterine Fibroids & Endometriosis. She’s honestly my favorite!
She’s taken back her independence since being emotionally and physically abuse from a mentor. She never wants to be under anyone’s control ever again. When the past starts coming back, she decides to take a stand but it does have its backlash.

Brooks! Our own Hel Ink’s bodyguard. Omg my heavens. Can a MMC get any more dreaming??? He’s so patient and ready to move mountains for Stevie. He’s willing to give her space and time but Brooks is man who knows who and what he wants but will they ever come out of the “Friends with benefits”?
Is Stevie willing to sacrifice her heart for a chance at real and genuine love and happiness?

I’m so excited to read the next book in this series or anything by this author! Highly recommend to read this book asap! Might as well start on this beautiful journey of the Hel’s Ink Series.

⚠️ Highly Recommended to read TW’s⚠️

Ehhhhhh I didn't love this one... maybe I'm just not a fan of the friends-with-benefits trope in my romance books.

It's just not for me. However....... I can confidently say I love DJ Krimmer's writing and books! 🖤

That said, I think I just didn’t believe or see the chemistry between Brooks and Stevie. Like... what did they even have in common? Where was the banter?! Maybe the book wasn’t long enough to really build that tension, idk. 🤷‍♀️

Fox and Derek are by far my favorites in the series. No contest. 🔥

Of course, I’ll still be reading the next one in the series. LOL 😏

I have nothing but good things to say about Stevie! This series has kept me coming back after each book because they’re so addicting! Each one brings on new challenges for the main and side characters and this one is no different. Stevie puts Brooks through a lot and they both fight hard to get their HEA. DJ writes such complex characters that each have their own struggles and I love the different disability/mental health representation that she’s weaves through each book because it makes them even more relatable. Even though my situation is different from hers, I related to Stevie in ways I wasn’t fully expecting…I feel for her and her pain.

Lucy Rivers and Aaron Shedlock performed these characters perfectly and helped close out this series flawlessly! Lucy Rivers gave Stevie her shy, yet sassy side in all the best ways and when emotions were high, she let those shine through as well. Her accents were on point and I LOVE what she did with Baka who is one of my favorite characters throughout the series! Aaron Shedlock was amazing as Brooks and had me swooning over him and the things he would say! He made me love the good guys even more and hate the bad guy with a passion. He also nailed the accents and I just simply loved listening to these two together!

Dj quickly became a top author for me after reading one of her books (fox) and she just continues to solidify that decision.

I love every word on every page, the writing is so captivating, it drew me in right away and kept me hooked right till the last page. It made me feel all the feels

I love Nika she is so amusing 🤣 but Stevie and Brooks were just so wonderful to watch grow.

Stevie (peaches) and Brooks (sweetheart)
The prologue is Stevie at her old tattoo shop with her mentor and boyfriend at the time, Vincent. How he made her be an unpaid apprentice for 2 years and live at his house and he controlled her whole life and she’s supposed to be able to start getting paid and he tells her she needs to pay him back first and tells her to get on her knees. And she realizes she can’t take this again. And so she punches him on the crotch, cuts her hair off with scissors, and flees. Then we’re transported to the convention, Vincent was there and he shoved her into a stall and told her to get on her knees and she knows she can’t let this happen again so she uses her watch to try to call someone and it’s brooks and he’s begging to know where she is and she tells him which pisses Vincent off and he slams her head against the door in time for brooks to come in and be angry. She asks him if they can just leave. He punches Vincent and then they go to her room. And he kisses her and she says quickie so no one notices her missing. And afterward he tells her she must have started her period and starts to clean her up and she’s so embarrassed. She tells him she has endometriosis and can start bleeding during sex and she’s so sorry she should have told him before and he tells her if he hadn’t left his load inside of her hed do it again and she’s so close to tears because Vincent used to always get so disgusted by the blood. Brooks and Stevie fall into friends with benefits, he wants to be more with her but she won’t accept it, so he takes what he can get. And she constantly reminds him they are just friends with benefits and he has a nice dick and doesn’t get disgusted with her condition. But they text and call each other often. Brooks knows Stevie doesn’t want to pierce full time anymore. We know she has a lot of trauma from her old mentor and it took a lot for her to be able to work with men and pierce them. She’s on a piercer Facebook group where she sees vincent talking about breaking the new girl in and decides she needs to use her voice and speak up. We also know Stevie has been trying to get a hysterectomy and no doctors would do it and say she was too young and didn’t know what she really wants but Rens mom was able to pull some strings and get her a surgeon willing in a month. We also know Janie has been having a tough time, even after the expensive ivf she miscarried after 9 weeks. Stevie does a live video talking about the things that happened to her but people don’t take to it well, she gets a lot of hate. Brooks is worried because he can’t lose someone else he cares for. We find out brooks father and sister were in a car accident and he was a fire fighter on the scene. He blames himself even though there was nothing he could do. But his dad died on the scene and his sister has to be in a wheelchair the rest of her life. He will not let harm come to Stevie. So he basically turns into her body guard even though she doesn’t want it. But her baka calls him her bear and that they are meant to be and she’s meant to marry the bear. And how she knows he sneaks in and she gives him the milk for free. Not sure how much I’ve talked about Baka in the other books but her and Stevie’s mother own Nuts about Dough and I adore her. When Stevie shows up in the shop after posting a follow up video, brooks wants to talk to her. He ends up eating her out and they agree to go back to her place but her apartment was raided and trashed so he asks her to come back to his place. He has high security and will be able to protect her. She notes his counter tops are low and he tells her his sister is in a wheelchair and likes to bake so they can change levels 🥺his mom comes to visit and he forgot to tell Stevie his family thinks she’s his girlfriend but she plays the part but after they leave she tells him he’s in trouble. She ends up giving him amazing head which I was shocked by, I figured she’d hate giving it after Vincent forced her into it so much. And then she went to lay down and found him outside in his garden. He tells her he planted it all when he was in a dark place. He mentions his anxiety and depression and asks what happened for the ptsd. He tells her he found their family car upside down, his father had a heart attack while driving and crashed and died on the scene while his sister was ejected and is just in a wheelchair. And Stevie cries for him and understands why he’s so protective but also why he doesn’t do a lot of live in body guarding, he gets attached. We also get introduced to the newer tattoo artist for while fox and Janie are traveling for IVF, his name is Nix. Rens sister comes in with an egg plant on her hand that she needs covered up and he’s the cover artist. So I think they will be the next couple, and he’s old so it’ll be an age gap. Stevie is waiting for her next client and when he comes in he throws sand in her face. Brooks beats him while everyone else helps clean her up. Janie walks into brooks and Stevie holding hands and he takes her home. She recovers. She goes to get up and bled through and when she comes back out he had changed the sheets for her and she’s crying by his niceness. She’s dolled up to go out with him to his moms house and something gets said about how they can’t be more. And he asks what’s so wrong with him and she tells him she spent 2 years with a man who controlled her and she can’t do that again and he’s upset that the same person he’s protecting her from is the reason she won’t give him a chance to show her what she’s worth. And she tells him he’s from a big family and she can’t give him kids and he tells her he’s known that for months and he just wants her. And she tells him she doesn’t want him to regret that and she wants them to stay the way they are. And he says he’s in love with her so that’s why he’s taken anything he can get but he can’t keep lying to her family. So he tells her not to bother going. And she can’t be here anymore after hearing that confession from him. She goes and talks to her girls who wake her up and she goes back to his house and he’s there and tells her he canceled that he didn’t feel like going. She tells him she likes him too and mentions him being her bf but he tells her he needs to take her on a real date first. So now they’re not even doing friends with benefits. The day for their date rolls around and she’s having a bad pain day and so he turns it into a painting date night at home and she’s so thankful even when he tells her what she missed out on she loved the at home date. She goes with him to his families but they start talking about babies and make her cry but his younger sister tyler understands because after her accident she was told it would be almost impossible to conceive. She also yells at the girls for making Stevie feel like that even though they didn’t know. He holds her and tells her it’s time to go. She gives him crap on why his jeep has never been ducked. When they get home he senses something is wrong and then Vincent comes out calling her puppet and Brooks pulls his gun and gets rid of him. He holds Stevie. It’s time for her surgery and Greyson his partner calls to tell him they found Vincent, he’s using a new apprentices credit card. He doesn’t want to leave Stevie but wants to handle this situation. While she was drugged she told him not to leave and she had already fallen for him🥺he comes to bring her home and Baka gives him hell for not visiting. He gets Stevie home and cares for her and she needs space from him. He’s with Greyson at nuts about dough when Vincent comes in and baka pulls a knife on him. He knocks Vincent out and restrains baka but she tells him he needs to handle this problem so her Stefa isn’t scared anymore. Him and Greyson interrogate him. He breaks a couple fingers and shoots through his hand and tells him he needs to start a new life and never come through Stevie. He had admitted to the not paying her, and forcing her into blow jobs, he had called her fat and nasty pussy, and how he used to pull her hair to force her: and that’s why she’s kept her hair short. And then Stevie calls to ask him to come home because she misses him. He leaves Vincent with Greyson and goes home to Stevie. They haven’t had any issues with Vincent so he assumes he took the hint and left town. Stevie has been healing. She finally slips up and tells him she loves him and he tells her good because he’s loved her for a long time. She wakes him up to sex on his birthday and he tells her he loves her then too. She throws him a big rubber duck party and after everyone leaves, she ducked his jeep and tells him she loves him on the note. She decides she’s happiest at Nuts about Dough and when she’s baking so asks the newest girl at Hels Ink, Sadie, if she wants to learn under Sadie. Sadie wants to pierce and tattoo and would love to learn under Stevie. Stevie and Tyler start their own bakery. Tyler had never came inside of nuts about dough before because she was worried about being a bother since she has a wheelchair so this was a way for her to get to bake and eat Stevie’s work, they started their bakery together. They go to the convention and this is where brooks was really nervous about protecting her but he knows she won’t back down from going. While there; he’s arrested and Stevie is so confused. She has no idea what he did to vincent. He doesn’t want to talk to Hels inks attorney, he just wants to know that Stevie is okay. Stevie and Baka and Greyson all go to see Frank and she tells him vincent came into her shop and pushed her daughter so she shot him in the hand, and she throws the gun and suppressor down and Frank says they may have a story. Baka takes the fall to get Brooks out for Stevie. Stevie begins looking into apartments and brooks tells her to stay and she tells him she needs her power and that’s when he shows her he had the deed to his house transferred into her name and asks if he can stay and she tells him they can be roomies. We also know Janie came home from florida this time and is carrying and things are going well🥺we know Phoenix gets a book next who I think will be with Rens sister and then Sadie gets a book. I don’t have a guess on her yet. But there was mention of Greyson talking to Brooks little sister Pip so I wonder if that’ll go somewhere. I really loved Stevie’s story but it almost was too sweet. Her and brooks jumped right into sex which was fine there was just no slow burn like the others. Brooks was already in love with Stevie but we watch her realize she’s in love with brooks. We get to watch how sweet he is to her after how awful she had been treated before. And we get to see her bond with his family and that was super sweet. I really loved this book but I feel like it should have been longer.
