When the world wounds us with a metaphorical arrow, many of us spend our days chasing unanswerable Why was I hurt? Who is to blame? Will it happen again? Beneath these restless inquiries lies a deeper even though the event is now over, the fear it left behind is like a poison. While there were some good insights here and there, I found this book heavily anecdotal which I didn’t love. It felt a bit repetitive at times and also obvious. I really loved ‘The Four Agreements’ so I had high hopes but this felt unstructured and almost like a personal storytelling carried on from Don Miguel Sr.
Much needed book to help move through (paralyzing) fear and attachments and connect to the deep love of the inner Self. I will be rereading this book many times!
I have to say that this book really changed my perspective and eventually my life. Any book from the Ruiz family always seems to have such an impact. The anecdotes at the beginning of the chapters, followed by the crux of the messages, are always appreciated. This book specifcally, I can really appreciate the exercises as well in the books as well. The exercises were helpful and actually made you think you are part of the process as well. I have many fears, and I am becoming aware of them, and I hope to solve them in the future. Truly, fear is the poison, and this book is the cure to that poisoned arrow. Maybe I started to read it and finish it at the right time.
The Poisoned Arrow by Don Miguel Ruiz Jr. is a profound exploration of the subtle ways our beliefs and perceptions can cause inner suffering, offering wisdom that encourages introspection and healing. Ruiz Jr. weaves spiritual insights with practical guidance, making complex concepts accessible and impactful.
Mr Ruiz makes everything about fear so clear and the exercises are very helpful. I am reading the book again and I will probably read it again after that. I felt stuck in life and I believe that removing the poisoned arrow is the solution I need.
I was astonished by how much was packed into this little book. It was not only about facing your fears, but gave the reader a way to navigate the healing process.
