'Remissioning Church' is the right book for anyone who loves 'doing church' and want to belong to and be involved in a local church but feels completely dissatisfied at best and burnt out at worst.

This book validates these feelings and sheds some light on why the church is over-functioning at the expense of its people... fruitlessly very often. It doesn't stop there however, as it presents some practical and tried and true solutions based on the author's own experience coming in as a new pastor in a already-established-in its-ways church.

I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone involved in church at all.

If you've ever felt church life is frustrating, stuck, boring or stale, Remissioning Church, by Joshua Hayden, presents challenges for change. Think the church has changed too much but a core group of people are still doing all the work, trying to vitalize the church? Remissioning Church will take you through new options and insights. I am not a pastor or church leader, but I have been active in churches for decades. This book invites a slow read, reflection, attitude insights, and action. If you'd like to see the vitality of a community of faith spread out like expanding rings of ripples by a cornerstone thrown into the pond, read Remissioning Church. I finished it, and still rereading sections slowly because remissioning is not a quick change solution to one's personal life or church life.

A lot of great thoughts and ideas in here. I love that the heart behind this is genuinely observing if church is working and effective in the mission - and if not, gaining the courage to retool and recover the mission. Some really helpful metaphors, and lots of interesting things to have good healthy conversations over as a church considers changing to be more in tune with the work God has in mind for them to be doing in the communities and neighborhoods. Important read if your church is in a plateau or in decline.

This book is a must read for any church pastor or member that is going through the struggles that are affecting the present day church. Learning to disciple and make the necessary changes is hard and this book is a blueprint to start making the course corrections today. I highly recommend this book as you look to navigate and live out Gods mission in the 21st century.
