Here comes another western adventure of relentless action, obstacles and a touch of western romance
In the frozen wilderness of an abandoned town, Palmer McCoy seeks refuge from a blizzard. Driven by grief over the murder of his wife, he collapses in the snow. Upon awakening, he is greeted by the sight of Sarah Truman and her young daughter. Sarah is beautiful, but more than that, she is a survivor, like him.
As the snowstorm rages, ruthless outlaw Maynard Hughes and his vicious gang take shelter in the same ghostly town. Maynard isn’t afraid of anything. Not the marshal who’s after him. Not the raging storm. Certainly not Palmer.
But that’s his mistake.
Palmer, stripped of his weapons and sworn to protect Sarah and her daughter, is about to give the fugitives a fight they weren’t expecting. The blizzard is the least of their worries. Suddenly the abandoned town is turned into a battleground for survival.
As Palmer battles both the elements and his inner demons, he discovers that hope and companionship can be found even in the most desolate places. Can they overcome the deadly perils of the storm and the menace of the outlaws, or will the ghost town claim more lost souls?
A Historical Western Adventure book by James Leonard is a standalone and can be read out of order.
The story seemed ridiculous and unbelievable from the very beginning. A young woman's abusive husband falls in a drunken stupor and punctures his brain on a nail And dies. For some reason she thinks she needs to hide the death and everything starts going downhill from there. There are a lot of stupid decisions made by several of the characters in this book Which has 3 groups of people who End up Coming together in dire circumstances💀. It Made me want to yell at them and say "why are you doing this! You're stupid!"
I have read quite a few of this author's 📚 and enjoyed them but this 1 was just too far-fetched. On to better books.
I got this e-book from Amazon 📚 with kindle unlimited.
Fast read with action and some likeable characters. The storyline is interesting, the bad guys very bad but story and character development was minimal. There were a number of errors: Other reviews mentioned issues with weapons and horses. I'll point out a couple of others that bothered me. One, there were no Comanches close to Missouri. Two, the setting of the ghost town was totally incorrect, being described in areas much farther west. There are more, but suffice it to say that I found this work to be significantly of lesser quality than the Western authors I regularly read.
What a hard story. There was so much killing and hard times. I don't know how they all survived the gun shot wounds. Palmer was a good man. But he sure had a lot of luck on his side with all the wounds he had. The women were strong and capable. So glad it all turned out good I. The end. Thanks for a. Good read.
Really liked this story with heartfelt emotions of losing loved ones, to dealing with abusive husband, retaliation for killing. Then meeting each other in a snowstorm but having to fight to stay alive from evil outlaws. Ending was perfect.
I always love it when an author can tie the good vrs . the bad together. This one created a happily ever after in between the disgusting evil of western mankind.
I really enjoyed this book, it was well written and told a great story! My only complaint was that it never gave a reason for that poor town and all of it's people! Was it fear or sickness?
Wonderful ,amazing read! It had everything you need ,action an a love story . what these people went through ,I was on the edge of my seat . I think this is awesome!
