The impossible happened, and now the alphas and I are on the run from my pack. We've been in hiding for months, but life never goes the way we plan. They've found me, and I've been given an ultimatum. One that will tear me and my alphas apart. They'll never trust me again. They'll hate me for this. But I have to do it. I have to keep my mother safe, even if I lose everything.
This is the second and final book in the Heat Duet.
I spend 95% of my life huddled in my little office, at my little desk, vividly hallucinating about characters and scenarios that don't exist. Then I write it all down for you to enjoy!
This second part of the duet starts with a bang and as Belladonna is faced with an impossible choice, the tension of the burning turmoil that has been slowly creeping through since the last chapter of Heat has kept me glued to this story.
I have to say that here, I got a bit frustrated with guys though I completely understood their reasoning, but still it bugged me a bit. However, it did not take them too long to come to their senses. One thing that could be said about Pack Carbone, as well as their new addition, was that when they are in, they are in- protective, devoted and very supportive.
Good ending to Belladonna's journey, quite a few twists and turns, betrayal, secrets and of course, sweet revenge. I love strong characters, but then again there needs to be some vulnerability there to pull on my heartstrings and the author definitely delivered in respect to that. Overall, this was quite a thrilling story to follow.
Hotter than Heat, this sequel is a high spice follow up to the Mafia filled world that left Belladonna and her men running for their lives after they killed the heads of the Carbone family. Readers were left with a few cliffhangers in the last book and their follow through in this one, while mostly finding endings, felt a tad on the lack luster side. Spoilers for some of my issues: The brothers never work through their issues with each other. Reuniting with Rosa isn't done until the epilogue. Bella herself seems less of the trained assassin she was made out to be through the book. She struggled during training, worried about failing her missions to the point she wanted her guys with her for protection, and with what happens at the end.
Despite my complaints the book was entertaining and I enjoyed the interactions between the characters. The story was imperfect but I still cared about what happened in it and wanted to keep reading until the end.

The characters were better in book 1 very badass, this one they were kinda miserable and dumb and desperate. Sigh.
Could have been amazing but it wasn’t.
This needs another editing pass, there are a lot of typos.
And wtf was up with her hatred towards Nic? He was way less of an ass to her than her guys were. Sure he left when he was younger, but that’s a stupid reason to hold this much of a grudge. Everyone makes poor decisions in their youth. 🙄 I felt so bad for this character. All he wanted to do was help and she was a bitch towards him right up until the end.
Also, that epilogue? Wine and watching Twilight? 🙄 Is it just because of her name? Like, why, out of every movie ever was this the one referenced? Such an odd and immature choice.
The Hunt was a good book. For the most part, I was almost always interested in turning the page to see what was going to happen next.
The Alpha males and the Beta, Sam, were sexy, strong & hot! How they felt about Omega, Belladonna went so deep! Definitely could feel the strong hold the werewolves have once they choose a mate.
There are some parts where I got confused for a minute on things like when the Carbone Alphas are mad at Bella, it was never explained why they quit being mad. I would have liked the author to explain a bit more.
Spice Level was excellent, I would rate it a solid 4. Overall, it's not a bad book. I just could have used more details. I would recommend.
Excellent ending to this duet, the first book, Heat was fantastic, so is Hunt! After that ending, this picks straight up and the whole story just explodes in a way that I did not expect. Bella discovers who her actual enemies are, though she already knows, I don’t think she realised how far they would go and what they would do to her. The culmination of story is short and bloody, with those that deserve totally getting what was coming to them. I pretty much cheered when they were brought down. Brilliant work!
Main Characters: Belladonna (Bella), Dante, Silas, Hector & Sam
Stand out lines/quotes: "Claim me, knot me, make me yours. All of you."
My Thoughts:<\b> First off, let me just say, Bella is a flippin’ champ!!! 🥵 There’s some messed up stuff going on in this book but dang, there’s also some freaking 🥵🥵spicy stuff happening too. A cold shower wasn’t going to cool anything down after reading this one!
First of all I LOVE everything that Penn Cassidy writes so there's that LOL! Hunt is the final book in the Heat duet and Penn keep me on my toes the entire book! this series is a dark why-choose mafia omegaverse duet & it is full of action, love, drama, triggers and soooo much SPICE!! This duet will definitely go on my re read list!
Belladonna was an amazing fmc and honestly I fell in love with her. Her men Dante, Silas, Sam & Hector added to the spice element.....the yummy alphahole vibes for them
Definitely a recommendation for reads if you love the tropes mentioned above!
Now that was the best way to go, some sneaky twists, surprises and shocks but you know it was never gonna end that way. Best duet ever! Bella is a force to be reckoned with. Absolutely sensational character, for an omega she’s one hell of a bad ass. She got her end and I’m so happy for her.
This duet was okay. I enjoyed the first one and this one just seemed scrambled. The guys hate Bella, and then they don't. They are gonna treat her like they hate her to protect her, then they don't. Even Bella was wishy washy. It was just a let down for me.
What happened the first book was so good? Well this is disappointing and makes my heart sad. 😢 I just couldn't get through this, and it's annoying. I wanted this book to be just as good as the first one.
